Title: 1.6b/c Eeprom Into A 1.6
Post by: Pikiaoboy on January 27, 2007, 04:02:00 AM
Hi all,
Background of this story is I had chipped a friends xbox (1.6) with a duox chip and added Avalaunch as the dash.  A couple of months later he brings it around and all it does is flash red when we turn it on.  A bit of web surfing and I find out the EEPROM has been wiped (I read somewhere this is an issue with some avalaunch dashes?).  So anyway I start looking around for what I can do....either get a modchip with eeprom repair, or replace the eeprom chip itself.

Luckily (or unluckily), I broke the in-laws xbox trying to chip it, and lo and behold I find its a 1.6 (either b or c version).  So I have just put this chip into my friends box.

Now comes the wierd part:
Sometimes the xbox doesnt boot at all.

Sometimes it boots with the LEDS showing green, but there is no video/audio

Sometimes  it boots fine, but then when I tried to ftp to it, the ftp would drop off.

Once I had a relatively stable ftp, I replaced the default dash (avalaunch) with unleash.  This seemed to make it a bit more stable (by that I mean at least I can reset the ftp etc), but it still plays up a bit

Im pretty sure this has to do with the data on the eeprom that is loaded on it. Of course I was silly enough not to back it up before it broke, so I am wondering if I do need to replace the eeprom info with the info from the 1.6 (a?).  Would this make the xbox functional/stable again?

Any help would be appreciated!
