I'm only gonna worry about the Redwings when the Leafs get to them. Detroit's won the cup too many time already, it's the Leafs turn this year.
Sabres fan here...but Leafs vs. Sabres games are awesome!

Leafs - 4
Thrashers - 2
2 more games to go!!
Who would all you Leaf fans like to see them matched up with in the first round?? Personally I want Montreal because my coworker is a huge Habs fan and it would be fun.
I don't want them to be matched up with a canadian team in the first round only cause I want Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal to be in the east semifinals. I'd want it to be Toronto vs Montreal, Ottawa vs Tampa Bay. And I want Ottawa to win so that the Leafs can bring the smackdown on them even more beautifully.
Only a week to go before the playoffs!!

Go Sens go...anybody going to the sens game on Saturday? I will be there to watch the sens kick the piss out of the gay leaf blowers...too bad for Nolan, his boyfriend must be pissed. |
Just quoting this for future reference.
So you can't edit it.
You are calling the Leafs gay when your allstar has the longest golden gayest hair I have ever seen! There are some GREAT rivalries in the East I love it.
I know I know..I call him Goldielocks.
In the Ottawa Sun yesterday there was a poll for Playoff haircut for Alfie...I think he should go the Joe Dirt mullet look.....I cant believe his wife doesnt make him cut it.
He is gay too!
I sercretly want Prusek to play the rest of the year out, Lalime is such a pussy....I am just as critical of the Sens as I am the Leafs.
GO LEAFS GO!
Whoohoo! They shutout the Sabres 2-0. If they beat Ottawa on Saturday they'll be first in the Northeast!! Oh man that's gonna be a good game and a great way to end the regular season.
Hell ya. What a game. We really creamed Buffalo;)

I wouldnt say they creamed my Sabres but, yea, they beat them and played a really good game...I guess I am rooting for Toronto in the playoffs for the third straight year now lol
Oops, I calculated wrong - I didn't realize Boston had an extra game to go. In order for Toronto to finish first in the NE they must kick Ottawa's teeth in tonight, and Boston, who lost today against New Jersey, must lose to them again on Sunday.
6-0 Leafs. A tremendously convincing way to end the season. That is why I love my team.
We'll Boston won. Toronto finishes 2nd in their division. Looks like we're facing the Ottawa Senators. GO LEAFS GO!!!
Hehe, after that last game the Sens will probably be changing their poopy pants every hour up until game time. I had to laugh about the Domi hit to Bondra - you can tell every player on Ottawa would just love to take him out.
Unless some kind of miracle/disaster happens, this'll probably be the results of the first round:
TAMPA BAY over NY ISLANDERS (cuz TB is best in the East)
BOSTON over MONTREAL (cuz the Habs have sucked recently)
NEW JERSEY over PHILADELPHIA (cuz NJ has Brodeur)
TORONTO over OTTAWA (cuz the Leafs rock)
The next round should be more interesting. Personally I'd like to see NJ/TO for the east finals.
The results are in:
Maggie the monkey picks the LEAFS.
All hail maggie the monkey! woot!11!!1!!!1!!!!!
Heh heh... sorry, but with Belfour, you won't get past the Red Wings.
GO WINGS!!

Sens 4
Leafs 2
Ok well the Sens have drawn first blood. They were doing good until they lost it on the power play. But I'm not going to hang my head in shame cause it ain't over yet, not by a longshot.
I swear all these fans of other teams better pray the Leafs don't win... cause if they do they'll NEVER hear the end of it.
Yah.. that game did hurt.. and blew away my SWEEP prediction.
Hopefully.. tonight's game will even it up...
There was absolutely no way the Sens were going to win that game, and I think they knew it. The Leafs got Klee and Tucker back in their lineup too. If Renberg comes back soon they'll be at (nearly) 100% strength for the first time all year.
Capital Punishment Round 3

Eddie, we are not worthy. He is nothing short of phenomenal!!!

TO does not have a bad crime rate at all considering how big of a city it is.

Very bitter!
beatbox, nobody here will insult you personally. You should show the same respect as this is a hockey thread, not a flame thread. Feel free to make fun of the Leafs - although it won't matter much by Friday when they finish the Sens off.
"3 Cheers For Ottawa"
Here's a little story
About a hockey team
Who just may win the Stanley Cup
But only in their dreams
The team is from Ottawa
The Senators is their name
They're soon to be inducted in the golfing hall of fame
They think they'll take our Leafers
Now there's a funny joke
Cuz every year at playoff time
The Senators always choke
So three cheers for Ottawa
A real team they are nottawa
They can give all that they've gottawa
But the Stanley Cup will never go to Ottawa
Ottawa has the parliaments
And MPs in the news
And it's kind of like their hockey team
They talk a lot but don't produce
They're not the smartest either
I really have to say
When the capital of our country
Spells Canada with a K
Three cheers for Ottawa
They think they have a shottawa
But they must be smoking pottawa
Cuz the Stanley Cup will never go to Ottawa
You better press your plaid pants
It's that time once again
To hear that familiar Ottawa Senators saying
Tee off is at 10
So get ready for the crying
Take out your handkerchiefs
You're about to get your ass kicked by the Toronto Maple Leafs
Three cheers for Ottawa
A lesson they'll be taughttawa
Hossa and Havalattawa
Will soon be golfing a lottawa
What the hell else rhymes with Ottawa
Not a whole heck of a lottawa
They're the team we already forgottawa
Cuz the Stanley Cup will never go to Ottawa!
I heard that song on the radio before game 1 and it pumped me up.
Well, were all tied up.
Looks like we kicked the shit out of you guys.
All those 35 year olds just cant keep up.
Well you definately made the series more interesting... still not worried about it.
I think the Leafs are just toying with them. You know, get their Stanley hopes all wound up, making them believe they actually have the skillz to beat the Leafs. Only then to pound them into the ice and make em look like amateurs.
Unfortunately I haven't been able to watch any of the Toronto games cause ESPN are a bunch of ass monkeys - but even listening to the games on nhl's internet radio is really exciting. Thankfully ESPN is showing Friday's Leafs game which I'm totally hyped up for. It'll be nice if a Canadian team wins, but it'll be that much better if it's Toronto - so many years have gone by without the cup going to Toronto and this is perhaps their best chance yet assuming Sundin isn't out for long.
Having 2 Canadian team matchups is a blessing and a curse. It knocks out 2 Canadian teams right off the bat - but on the other hand it guarantees at least 2 Canadians teams in the next round. In the West I'm rooting for Calgary. And it looks like Montreal will lose Boston - and after Tuesday's retarded loss I think they deserve it. I swear if Toronto pulled anything like what Kovalev did I'd disown them.
They're usually not very descriptive of injuries during the playoffs for obvious reasons, according to ml.com he was walking so it doubt it'll be a long term thing which would be disasterous for the Leafs.
I think he will be back, hes pretty tough.
I like watching him play, if he could only get away from Chara.
Ok...lets make a deal on that "spency".
If the Sens loose tonight I will never post on this thread again, if the leafs loose, you never post here again?
Do we have a deal?....chicken shit
How bout this for a bet?
If the Leafs win, beatbox has to become a Leafs fan and cheer them on through the rest of the playoffs. And if the Sens win, we have to create a new Sens Playoff thread and cheer them on.
Ottawa is now 1 punch from a knockout. Does anyone know what team they'll be playing next? I think it is Philly (assuming they win) but I'm not sure.
Ah I gotcha. Boston just lost, and the way Montreal's playing Boston is going to lose again on Monday. The Leafs did kinda poor against both Philly and TB during the regular season and both those teams are looking solid. Either way it goes it's not going to be an easy 2nd round - they'll need our full support and they'll get it!
Leafs 1
Sens 2
Ouch. I was totally expecting them to come away with that one. Onto game 7. Still not worried though. They're going to watch the tapes and see that playing an all defensive game isn't enough. All eyes will be on Toronto on Tuesday.
Not really a Habs fan, but I was very impressed with them last night. After the poor start in the series, and rather questionable/stupid play (*cough* Ribero *cough* Kovalev) they turned their game around and played some great hockey. I'm looking forward to watching them in the next round. It would be cool to see the Leafs/Habs for the Eastern finals.
Toronto 3
Sens 2
(please god...)
Leafs 4
Senators 1
Toronto wins series 4-3

I didn't lose confidence for a second. I'll admit though Ottawa played very well - if the Sens had Belfour the outcome would have been very different. Ottawa played the puck much better, they were faster, they made more shots on goal... but in the end the Leafs just played smarter and took advantage of Ottawa's mistakes.
Go Leafs!

Leafs
Many people also predicted Ottawa over Toronto. Ottawa was one of the strongest offensive teams in the league, and it wasn't enough to beat Belfour. Philly's offense is probably no better than Ottawa's is/was so I'm not afraid there. What I am worried about is the Leafs won't be able to score enough without Sundin in the lineup. If the other players can come through the Leafs can do it. It won't be sweep, I predict at 6 or 7 game series with of course with the Leafs coming out on top.
I'd like to say SWEEP.. but I think...
LEAFS in 5
Well they lost again. It isn't look too good for them although they certainly looked more in control the second game. They completely owned the 2nd and 3rd periods and it was real nice to see Sundin back in the game. They've got another 2 days rest before the next game in Toronto and that is going to swing the favor towards the Leafs.
I was pretty confident for that game. The 2 days rest definitely helped them more than it helped Philly. I think I've figured it out - the Leafs just don't play the neutral zone trap very well. The all defense "sit back and watch" style just doesn't work for them. Each of their goals last night were breakaways on strong offensive plays. If they keep that up they can win it.
Leafs 3
Flyers 1
Whoohoo! It's a clean slate again. Best of 3 starting on Sunday. Momentum has definitely swung toward Toronto as I predicted.
I hate Canada. I hate Canada like I hate Australia.
..but there's one thing I hate more, and that's the filth capital of the world, Philadelphia: Worst City on the Planet...and I've been to Egypt.
Go leafs go.

Yeah, but they haven't made the playoffs in almost a decade.
At 5-1 I had to turn the game off. Really sad - especially considering this was the first Leafs game being shown in high definition. Oh the pain of seeing my team crumble in high resolution glory...
There's still hope though. It's do or die time on Tuesday.
Too bad guys!
It hurts!
Hope we meet again in the Battle of Ontario.
Yup, that was a tough way to end the season. During the OT period I thought I was going to have a heart attack. And thus ends another season. I guess it's time to cheer on Calgary now.
