just more customers for China-Mart... errr I mean Wal-Mart..

70%+ of their inventory is from China... So much for their earlier ad campaigns for buying American....

We also have Albertsons here in CA... quite a few of them.  When they're not striking, it's a decent store, but the future looks grim.

hell all the Albertsons in the Dallas, TX area are pretty much all self check-out. hardly do I see cashiers anymore, so they don't have to pay any employees.. except the ones that stock...which might be phased out as well...

In my area, albertson is by far the best grocery store, they are just so expensive in comparison (my albertson bill averages abt 10% more than walmart). Their biggest problem has been the labour negotiations in Ca.  It has absolutely crippled them.

Idaho just passed a bill nicknamed "The Albertson Bill", that was basically targeted at saving the corp and helping them to become more competetive with Walmart.  It wont help them with labour negotiotions, but it will help them with streamlining their supply chain.  Only time will tell if their thick skulled CEO who ought to have been fired long ago has the brains to take advantage of it.

Thats happening at all the stores.  Fred Meyer, Wal Mart, Albertson etc are all replacing cashiers with self checkout.  The only grocery store I know of where that is not happening is WinCo.

. . . The albertsons foundation is a non profit organization obvioulsy afiliated with albertsons that has squandered countless millions trying to help the state reach unobtainable no child left behind goals.  Yet another failure.

I actually worked on that project and resigned when i saw all the lieing and thieving that was going on.  You could see then that it was going to blow up.  It was really sad how the Albertson Foundation was basically raped by the state of idaho and consultant firms like CRI. sad.gif

Just to set the record straight.  Albertson Foundation has absolutely nothing to do with Albertson Corp.  They dont even own ABS stock.  I made the same mistake when I started working with them  smile.gif

. . . It does seem to serve as a pasture for some of the cows who have been relieved of their duties at Albertsons.

not only was he primarily responsible for leading the Albertson foundation to ISIMS . . . he was fired because of it in december . . .  its going to take them years to repair the PR damage he has done.  That says a lot when your giving money away.

I used to work for Winn-Dixie and they are a horrible company with terrible ethics. They'll be completely gone within 5-10 years. I'm sorry for all the people losing their jobs, the good-ol' WD has fucked you over once again.
