i downloaded the 8050l_fw_flasher_fixed and made a boot disk. i then restarted my pc and flashed the drive with the command line sf8163.exe 8050l.dld 2 /f /c /p /o and it went through it's paces and said that the flash went ok, and to reboot my pc.
I rebooted and now my pc does not recognize the drive at all, and the light stays on all the time unless there is a dvd in the drive. If I put a cd in there the light stays on still.
Now my pc saw the drive as an 8163b and read everything i have prior to flashing.
Is this normal for the pc not to recognize the drive after flashing it with this firmware, but maybe the xbox will? Or is the drive screwed? I hope not as I followed the directions to the "T". Since I hear that most peoples 8163 won't read cdr's after the flash i was hopeing (and praying) that it was ok, but I don't want to start soldering if it's not.
Sorry if this has been answered before, but i've been searching for hours now and i can't find any info on this particular situation.
