I'll start at the beginning: V1.0 with CheapMod, 160GB HDD unlocked, Ind-BIOS 5003. Over the last few months, this box would occasionally boot up with an error 13. Normally this would happen after I would abruptly lose my F: drive, sometimes in the middle of a game. I would reboot, & get Error 13. One or two reboots would usually clear it.
Then, I was playing music over a network with XBMC. I lost the network computer that was the source of the music, & XBMC locked up. It always does this when I lose a network device. I restarted, & got error 13.
Normally I would assume that this is some kind of corrupted file on my C: drive. The first thing I did was try to boot Mechassault. It would not boot. No game will boot. Nor will my "new HDD" utility disk. The XBox will fail to launch any disk, reset, & give error 13. I swapped the drive out with a 30GB drive from a hacked box I upgraded. I keep it around for just such occasions. The box will not boot with it, either.
I am about to remove the modchip & install the original drive to see what happens. Most XBox problems are software related, but i'm getting the impression I've fried my HDD controller.
