They're trying to push ahead with a ID card in the UK aswell.  I would be in favour of the card if it did away with passorts, driving lic, Nation Ins card's etc  but all I see it as ATM is a stealth tax.  

Spain has a ID card system and that didn't stop the Madrid bombers, illegals, crime blah blah blah..
