I know, Jimmy Fallon does suck. He has very little talent, and leaving SNL so early, is just only going to drop his so-called career even further down the toliet.

Jimmy Fallon = Adam Sandler wannabe

Can we say.. Taxi, worst movie in 2004?

Don't forget to mention that Bush has also won the popular vote by 3.6 million as of right now, at 52,450,683 total votes. This is still with just above 80% of all precincts counted. I just heard on MSNBC he'll end up with the most votes of any candidate in US history.

Its sad that a movie based on fiction (yes fiction, and complete lies) could convince people to vote for a man so horrible as kerry.  If you only realized what he did in vietnam (or didn't do, but report was done).

Living by Fort Campbell (101st airborne screaming eagles), I have many friends in the army, and I do go on base occassionally.  Its sad to see the soldiers protrayed like animals in Farenheit 9/11.  My friends that came back from the war are volunteering to go back, but not because they want to kill people and are looking for a war.  Most of the soldiers that returned are mad how the media only showed soldiers dieing, and not soldiers helping the communities by building roads, schools, and handing out food.

What is funny is that Kerry's great line on taxes is "rich people like me don't need the tax breaks that Bush gave us."  I would say that too when my wife only pays 10% taxes on her reported 40+ million dollars a year, while i make hardly anything and pay 30% taxes.

When people tell me that we went to war over oil, I would like to beat the crap out of them.  That's why my local gas price is $1.87 (yeah its cheaper here than most places, but still expensive in my mind.)  Farenheit 9/11 is the biggest crock of crap i watched.  Too bad the media didn't publicize FarenHype 9/11 as much.  The only place i found it was at wal-mart after a friend told me about it (and it was nowhere near farenheit).  Blockbuster only had Farenheit also.  What's funny is that Farenheit is supposed to be a documentary... heh.  Hardly anyone has watched Stolen honor, but thats because the DNC sued Sinclair broadcasting for publishing a movie that can change the election, however farenheit went untouched to the publisher.

I am just glad that in the end, Bush did win (i guess we will find out in a while if ohio is contested).  Now he can finish the war that started a long time ago against Iraq, and then concentrate on the next road block, North Korea and Iran.

Why not give a single example of a lie in his movie?

Youre talking about lies as in "Saddam Hussein is an immenent threat to the united states" and "Saddam has mobile biological weapons labs"?
I think that wasnt a movie,I think it was real life.

Soldiers are not trained to do these good things you speak of,they are trained to kill and win wars.If they want to fix roads then they should work for the city and not put themselves in a dangerous situation where they could be blown up by a damn car bomb. And if they wanna hand out food I think they can do that at any homeless shelter, again not much danger but it may smell like hobo's.These people you speak of exist in your mind,no soldier wants to die and give their lives for people who hate them. There are terrorists in Iraq fighting Americans and her allies and then there are those who fight for liberation from US occupation. Were the Vietnamese terrorist when they were killing Americans by any means? No they just wanted us out,the same goes for the people in Iraq.I say fuck them,no one came and fought for Americas liberty we fought and we won.Its been done before and will be done again, America shouldnt do what its done in Iraq. There was no threat, there were no terrorist targeting the US,it was not right.

Id like to beat the crap out of you!You didnt notice that huge drop in the price of gas a few months ago?You dont think that happened because gas station operators wanted to give you a good deal do you?It happened because we were pumping gas out of Iraq and into US tankers.Too bad Iraqi freedom fighters(I hate them too but they are fighting for us to leave) blew up those oil pipelines and the Haliburton(yes they are) employees havent been able to repair them because of a lack of security.

The Michael Moore movies didnt get the boot because people had to pay to see it,it wasnt aired on free Tv the way that movie about Kerry was to be.Dont you know disney was to distribute(and owned the rights) Fahrenheit 9/11?They were going to keep it on the shelf because disney has a huge interest in florida called Disney World.
They felt if they put out the movie it would have repercussions from Jeb Bush, the govenor of the state.Sounds ike it was "touched" just a little.
The DNC never sued sinclair you damn lying biatch, shut the hell up with these lies.

Yes now we can have not just 1 or 2 Americans killed a day but instead we can go for thousands.North Korea has the 3rd largest army and they are well trained and loyal to their leader. And now they have nukes and the Taep'o-dong III missle that can hit anywhere on the west coast.
What exactly are they the road block to?Please give me an answer.
We wouldnt have to deal with such a threat from them or the Iranians had the United States not made the mistakes it did dealing with these countires.
Before the Korean war we didnt arm the south korean leader(the good guy) instead we armed the North leader(the bad guy) and he rolled his tanks and troops to the tip of the peninsula before the UN and the US acted and pushed them back, nearly to the chinese boarder. And with Iran,I think most people know about the Shah of Iran...

When the dust settles four years from now, maybe there's a chance to get this country out of the 19th century.  Until then, expect bible thumping to go up, rights to be ignored, big business to profit (at the expense of the working man) and crude oil to be expensive.  You know who to thank - I didn't vote for him.

It will happen, either a climate change (seriously, the movie The Day After Tomorrow is based on sound science) or an economic shift could bring about the undoing of the USA.  Bush loves to preach about how outsourcing is so great, until the day our country produces nothing and no one here can buy anything because we're all out of work.  Course, I think collapsing the entire economy in 4 years is a lofty goal even for Bush.    dry.gif

Well, if we are to believe the short speech Andrew Card made early this morning, Bush will win with 286 Electoral College, the largest amount in any US Pres election, and he is/will win with a large Popular vote as well....the pundits @ CNN are saying that Bush is leading with 3,525,735 votes as of 8:42 AM EST.....which is a damn big lead in a Pres election here in the US....so it SEEMS that the US isnt as divided as some think.

I'm also from Ohio, and it was weird to see Tom Brokaw say, "The president did everything but move the Whitehouse to Canton, Ohio."

And Dan Rather was talking about Stark County, Ohio...which is exactly where I live.  (Canton is in Stark County)

It's just weird to see them talking about your county on the national news.  But there's a saying that goes something like this, "As Stark County goes, so does Ohio, so does the County."  In fact, John Kerry said that when he visited my high school last summer.

EDIT:  The strange part is, I think Stark County went to Kerry...but I could be wrong.

How is the economy fucked? I make more money now than I did 4 years ago (small business here). The nations economy is on the rise, and will continue to grow. Democrats are so pessimistic it makes me sick. And pug_ster, I don't see how raising education spending by 60%, raising law enforcement by 33%, taking out 75% of the enemy that was part of the attack on us, and so many other good things Bush has done have screwed up our country. Why would you be shipped to Iraq r Iran if you're under 26? If you signed up for the military, sure you could be sent to Iraq (there is no was in Iran) or Afghanistan, but you won't be sent there if you're not in the military. Grow up and try to pay attention to what's really going on.

As a  conservative Republican, I can say I'm pleased and maybe even a little surprised.  I can readily admit that W is not the most well-spoken man, but he's a man of conviction I don't always agree with those convictions, but he stands by what he believes - even when it's unpopular - in a country strikingly low on conviction.  That's balls, or courage, or whatever you want to call it.  And I respect that.  He may be wrong sometimes, but at least we know what to expect from him.

There is a lot of animosity directed towards W (or Gee-Dub, as we call him in the hood) that the Democratic party propbably could have achieved a lanslide victory.  Too bad they fucked themselves in the Iowa caucauses and picked the lamest, most liberal, most disconnected candidate possible.  Dean or Clarke could have stormed the place.  Kerry?  He doesn't connect.  (Anyone remember Bob Dole?  He didn't conect either, at least not until after the campaign)

And Micheal Moore...  Five years ago, in my liberal film school, we studied moore.  We studied Roger & Me in two documentary classes.  I learned how Moore edits to change around the order of events... to twist the perception of truth.  He changes interview responses and issues a stream of half-truths.  He's a dangerous man who muddies the term "documentary."  Once again, I studied this five years ago, when Slick Willie was in the White House, before Moore's political agenda made so many headlines.  I don't think he's changed his ways.

I'm sure I'll catch my share of flaming in here.  I'm not looking to start arguements though, just sharing events of the last year from my perspective.  Now I just want to move on...

Brandogg.  The deficit would balloon since Bush is President.  Don't take me wrong, but this president for big government (you pointed the increased spending) and low taxes.  You tell me how this can be done without making a bigger hole in the deficit.  It will probably be like the 2nd term of Reagan presidency where the tax has to be increased.

As for the war in Iraq and Middle East, what are the chances that there will be some kind of diplomancy between the US and the Muslims in the Middle east?  As long as Bush is president there will be some kind of tension between US and them.  So for every terrorist that we killed, probably 2 or 3 will join their cause.  And you will see more US troops when they will do the final attack at Falijuah and they will need more troops.

I am a pessimist because what the president did in the last 4 years.  You tell me why I should be an optimist.

Johnnobts said the smartest thing I've read in this thread.  Come on guys, I voted Bush, but I can guarantee you that if Kerry won the election I would support him.  Your supposed to make the best of things and support your elected leaders, not bitch and moan for 4 years.  Love it or leave it. It's the way it is and if people are going to kick and scream like babies, so be it.  I can certainly understand  people being disappointed by not having their candidate elected, but don't be one of those people that everytime you see Bush on tv or in the news you start complaining again.  Now, let's get back to talkin' xbox on friendly terms, eh?

The only thing I do know that he did something right was a refund of $300 check with W's name on it a few years back.  But I know that I will have to pay for it a few years later in tax increases.

I agree with ahoatam that Kerry is not the best candidate and Dean or Clarke is probably a better candidate than Kerry.  If either Dean or Clarke were running for President, they could've probably won.

wow, first time for everything i guess...  i agree with some of the other comments from my conservative friends...  i don't appreciate the outrageous remarks coming from the other side of the aisle. actors like martin sheen who called bush a moron, and kim basinger who said she'd move out of the country if bush was elected, like sen. joe biden who called the president "brain dead," like al gor who ranted and raved saying "he betrayed this country..."  come on...  i also agree that if kerry had been elected, by and large the majority of republicans and conservative independents wouldn't pitch as big a hissy fit...

plus to all those here in the forums calling us "stupid american voters," "crazy right-wingers," "pyscho-Christians," etc., etc.  I'd just submit to you that evanelical Chiristians have every right to be involved in the democratic process, and because we felt that so many moral choices were on the table for this years election (stem cell, partial birth abortion, homosexual marriage), we were highly mobilized and showed up at the polls.  i'd also like to add that we did this WITHOUT expressly endorsing a particular party or candidate, unlike certain other religous leaders in the democratic party (jackson, sharpton getting away with endorsing a candidate in church makes me sick).

i know that america is going to be smeared across the globe by more progressive, less traditional, more secular, less religous nations for moving a notch farther to the right, but i'm telling you, even a lot of midwestern democrats couldn't stomach moving as far left as people like kerry, dean, michael moore, hollywood, etc. wanted our nation to go...

finally, let me just preview the next presidential race, between hillary clinton (no-brainer) and whoever the republican party chooses.  republicans better pay close attention to the church-going protestants and practicing catholics.  just as we wouldn't tolerate pete coors in colorado, we may not be so fond of voting for arnold (pro-choice, pro-stem cell, pro homosexual marriage), guiliani (same) or mccain (same)...  its our next candidate may be a rice, powell, frist, or even another, more articulate bush (jeb).

I agree with ahoatam that Kerry is not the best candidate and Dean or Clarke is probably a better candidate than Kerry.  If either Dean or Clarke were running for President, they could've probably won.

again, most reasonable voters wouldn't pin the deficit entirely on bush, though i was disappointed he didn't veto any spending appropriations at all...   i will say these things in his defense: 911, recession (he didn't start), corporate scandal, global terror war, homeland defense spending. also, i'd add that in his coming to office, spending growth was increasing at a rate of 15% percet per year, under his administration, they managed to trim it to below 5%.  not bad at all.

plus, when we talk about conservativism, its a mixed bag...  you can be morally liberal but fiscally conservative, just like you can be a morally conservative but fiscally insane.  in this year's election, its obvious based on the exit polls that these were the top priorities for most voters (in the swing states):

1.  moral issue
2.  terrorism
3.  economy (distant third!)

personally i'm pleasantly surprised we didn't vote our wallets for a change.  it wasnt' "the economy, stupid."

I always have said that Kerry wasn't the best Democratic candidate, but I think he is better than Bush.  I would've have voted any Democrat or Repubican if he's a decent candidate who can work with the senate and House to get real legistration passed instead of bi-partisan politics.  So far, Kerry is the better person to do that wheras Bush has the take it or leave it stands on everything.

Johnnobts.  About what you said, there are Americans who are not Christian, or gay, or for Stem Cell Research.  I rather have a candidate on what a President who can take us in the next 4 years.

Never realized how big of dicks some people could be...

The demos would have been much better off picking someone who wasn't so liberal, if they had someone who had some of the same ideals of Bush, we would have had a new president. People we're voting against Bush, not for Kerry, think what would have happened if the Demos had someone the people wanted to vote for. Too bad it's all said and done.
I just wanna say, Kerry had a good run, but all the negative publicity on both ends didn't help either canidate, and the fact that people we're only voting him to smite Bush didn't help much either.
As for the crazed liberals and retarded foriegners, take it easy.(Directed at the first page with Ronnie, and this page with T-1200)
As for T-1200, I can see where your anger is directed, but hoping for another 3k civilians to die, just because we voted for a president you don't agree with, is the stupidest thing I've ever heard of. I suggest you move down to New Zealand, where you'll fit right in with the far-left liberals, and thier trasnvestite seanators.

Edit: Seeing that your form the UK, don't you guys have elections coming up in January? Don't most of you disagree with Blair? Won't Blair be your next prime minister? I think you might wanna worry abotu how your country is being run, before worrying about ours...

I wouldn't call him the most hated person. He had a 3.5 MILLION lead on the popular vote. Unless a large majority of non-voters were in favor of Kerry, then the public has spoken how they feel.

I believe Bush has handled himself very well. Sure, I'd like to see our troops return home and the Middle East become a safe place for everyone. I'm sure Kerry would cut a lot of military funding the day after his inauguration. Where would that leave our troops and the situation over seas? Many of them would be coming home, leaving whatever US entities there more seseptible to terrorist attacks.

QUOTE (johnnobts @ Nov 3 2004, 08:54 AM)
I mentioned this several times in the posts that the American people would re-elect George Bush, despite the media polls...  Couple reasons for this:

1.  This biggest factor: people who voted on moral issues: the religious right showed up at the polls.  Protestant evangelicals and practicing catholics (including religious minorities who broke party lines) didn't want the most liberal senator in the land holding the highest office in the land (and potentially picking future justices)
2.  The Youth Vote: they didn't show up...  17% of people ages 18-29 voted, the same percentage as last election.  sorry "p-diddy's Vote or Die" workers...  what's more, young voters did NOT vote overwhelmingly for Kerry as predicted.

There are some other reasons why I think Kerry lost...  He wasn't the best democratic candidate...  After all, history has proven that when the democratic party has embraced a liberal candidate rather than a centrist one (i.e., Dukakis), they lose.  He also chose a weak running mate, even though Kerry has a flashy smile.  Should have picked a running mate who could have really helped him in the west or in the the SOuth (Gephardt).  A minority candidate would have helped, or a Jewish running mate.  Again, Bush stole a lot of Jewish voters this year for his support for Israel.   I know this will burn many of you foreigners up.  but hey, that's how democracy works in the greatest democracy in the world (even though india is larger)...

Excellent post

I cannot begin to express how out of line that post is.  NOBODY deserves 9/11.  None of those firemen, police officers, office workers, airline passengers, and their families deserved that...  They were innocent lives, and if it happens again, you can rest assured they will be innocents regardless of their vote or their party affiliation.

Furthermore, the notion that we Americans would change our vote a-la-Spain because of terror threats is absurd.  No one will hold a gun to my head and tell me how to vote.  I have a family to protect, and electing a man who will kow-tow to the enemy will not be protecting them.

You disgust me with your "you clowns will deserve it" comment.  American blood has spilled more than once for your country.  While you don't owe us anything for that, I think we all owe those innocent lives of 9/11 a little respect.

Well, 700$ is not affordable for everyone.....Espicially for a useless war, I wonder if america would have told everyone of the bush voters that they would be paying 700$ straight out for Iraq...Would bush still be president for the next 4 yrs ? Regarding canada's involvement, bush did ask for canada..That's why our priminister clearly said " Canada will not send troops to iraq, unless the UN approval " ..And a few month later, as I scratch your back you scratch mine....Not one canadian companie has been offered a contracting position in Iraq....Don't say bush did not ask for help, it was his job to build the coalition.

Why do democrats constantly complain?  Do you think that Kerry will "magically" become president if you complain enough?  No, just face it, whether you or I like it or not, bush won.  Did Kerry complain and act like a big baby like Al Gore? NO.  At least Kerry is not a complainer unlike the rest of you.  Complaing never solves everything, no wonder the nation is so divided today.  Republicans didn't constantly complain as much when Clinton was in office (I admit many did).  The bottom line is that complaining never solves anything so stfu and get on with life.

this thread is falling to pieces.

I voted for Kerry not because I needed him but rather because I thought everyone else did.
He said he would get the soldiers out of Iraq and I thought if they're not in Iraq they probably wont die so much.I guess that issue didn't matter to most people.

Kerry wanted to federally fund stem cell research and bush has opposed it.I again thought that people with helping,or at least trying to help people  with debilitating diseases would be an issue.
I don't have any of those problems that could be helped by that research but others do and I cared about them.

There are a few other reasons I voted for Special K but its moot now.
Next time around I say fuck everyone else in the USA and the fuck the whole world.
Now I hope we kill every fucker who looks at us wrong.War is good entertainment for me,so Ill be getting something good from Bush and I gotta give thanks for that.

Did Bill just call you up and tell you to post that?
He didnt see Bin Laden as a real threat,we didnt find out he was working with the muslims that attacked the twin tower in 1991 until very recently. We didnt know he was worked with the Somalians until recently either.
Of course he knew about Osama and Al Qeada but he didnt know what was going to happen and he was the kind of man who would actually wait to be attacked before bombing a country, thats the way it should be.
And didnt bush have ample time to get bin laden before 9-11-01?Wasnt he the president?Did he not know about Osama?
Of course he did,he even got a report about bin laden with the title "Bin Laden determined to strike in the US".What did he do after he read that?Nothing cus he didnt,he didnt think is was more important than golf.

sorry, but that is a lame argument.
Because, even if he could tell from that memo that Osama Bin Laden was DEFINATELY going to make these huge attacks, Bush would not have been able to stop him.  I feel the real failure was on the part of these airport security personnel, on that terrible morning.  Seems suspicous when a large group of mean-looking Saudis walk by, don't you think?
It is purely ludicrous to say Bush could have prevented this attack.  Even with the US's current anti-terrorism laws, it is not going to be airtight, I'm sure there may be more attempts to come.  We can only hope they can be prevented.
Actually, think about it long enough, and you will reach the same conclusion the President did.  The best way to defeat terrorism is to spread freedom.  We can change the world in which we live, and it is a noble role to assume in the world.  Of course America will catch a lot of flack for it.  I beleive the flack was in the EXTREME.  Many people who disagree with Bush's policies (not based on the policies themselves, but based on what they think his intentions are), distrust those who wear their morality like a badge.
And that is where I disagree with Bush.  He is far to open with his beleifs, causing unbeleivers to question his credibility.  After all, he is the president of the united states of america, not an evangelist.  While I can see how christians like myself are called to spread the gospel, he is far too open with his religion.  It makes everyone uncomfortable, so now most people believe that the armageddon is coming soon!
Whether that is the case or not, I still tend to agree with Bush.
He said, "I love to hear people tell me they are praying for me and my family".  THAT is exactly where americans gets uncomfortable.  It has the appearance of Bush saying he cannot make a mistake because he has the "back-up" from the Lord.

I'd like you to tell me what you would have done if you got a report that said, World's most wanted and richest terrorist is planing an attack somewhere in America (you know, with the 250 Million targets(people), and land mass bigger than most nations in the world, not to mention all the embasies, military bases, and various other american owned entities in the world). You have no clue how he's going to attack, boat, plane, suicide bombers? You have no clue where he is, you have no clue how many followers he has. We've lost too many soldiers to pull out half-way thru, thier lives would have been wasted for no reason. The elections in Iraq are coming closer everyday, maybe, with a bit of luck(and with the death of Arafat, yay he's in a coma!!), thier might be peace in the Middle East for some period of time.

Here's my argument, it's not security but economy. The clinton administration turned a 3 trillion dollar deficit into a 400 billion dollar surplus in 8 years. In 4 years the Bush administration turned the surplus into a 7 Trillion dollar deficit. 9-11 can be blamed for a little of that but the rest is just plain negligence and a clearly war driven agenda. I'm giving the guy the benefit of the doubt on his second term as he seems to have a clear cut agenda on what was overseen during his first term but if the issues don't get addressed I think impeachment will threaten his second term as it did Clinton's. This country is split down the middle on this, if a few more industrial sectors lose more jobs abroad I'm sure the public's opinion will sway.

American diplomacy also took a dive this term with the rest of the world viewing america as the asshole in the west, whether we like it or not our economy is globally based and we need to convince people outside of this country that we aren't going down the shitter with internal conflicts.

If you do a bit of research, you'll see that the previous adminastration leads the economic outcome of the next adminastration. I'm not saying that Clinton is completely at fault for our current deficit, but he didn't aid it at all. Notice how the economy is now growing, much like it was with Clinton going into his second term.
Our economy isn't as bad off as many are made to believe. Many large companies stocks that were projected to be going under, are actually on the rise, take Delta for example. They've recently laid off a large group of workers, but thier stock never did take a large hit.

QUOTE

Clinton's second term wasn't threatend with an impeachment til his scandel with Lewinski. The only reason for his impeachment was him lieing under oath, it had nothing to do with the way the country was being run.

QUOTE
American diplomacy also took a dive

Our diplomacy isn't too bad either. Many of the other nations despise Bush, but still accept America. We still have our allies backing us up that we expected to have (ie. Britain & Austrlia), and for those who oppose America's presence in the Middle East, it wasn't a shock either. Germany never did have the same views as America, France is about the dirtiest players in the book, and Russia is always iffy. As far the other nations who pulled out after a couple of thier citizens were captured by terrorists, and in Spains case, terrorists attacks on thier nation, are pussys. If they committed to going in at first, pulling out due to a terrorist attack(which is what they're fighting against, is it not?), is cowardly. You can't expect to go into a war, with your enemies so hell bent on destroying your idealolgy that they'll sneak attack 3000 of your civilians, and not lose a life. I don't know what you are talking about.  Clinton tries to run his government like MS.  He tries to get rid of the debt and we actually have a surplus.  Whereas Bush runs the government like Enron.  They run their government on borrowed money and tells everybody that the economy is healthy until one day the government is bankrupt.

I did do my research, 7 tillion dollars isn't a figure I made up and 400 billion surplus isn't a number I felt was a shocker, these are real numbers.

How is pointing out a company laying off employess a positive in our economy? Delta is primarilly based in California so my state will end up feeling more of the financial hardships that we already faced these past 4 years. Pennsylvania and Michigan are in the same boat and voted according to what I feel was economy not morality. The issues are still real, and just because you don't feel it's impact it doesn't mean others out there aren't struggling to make a living.

On the basis of impeachment the president made statements to both houses of congress and addressed the nation that weapons were in Iraq and to this day none have been found. Isn't that lying under oath? 1,128 deaths and counting.

if you or a family member or friend was affected by this downslope in the economy, I'm sure your post would be of a differnt view.

We are suffering from the economy, my dad owns a small business, and compared to the previous 5 years, his sales have taken more than a 60% decrease. We've cut back on many costs, my dad does odd-jobs when he can. He is now getting into the sub-contracting business. It's not my fault that others do not know how to manage thier money, and find a steady job market for the times.

No oil buddies in Kuwait?
What about Bandar Bush from Saudi Arabia, not a kuwaiti but hes an oil man.
The Bush family is responsible for the dictator ruling Kuwait right now. They are his friends. You cannot deny the truth unless you choose to ignore it.

Israel has a nuclear scientist named Mordechai Vanunu in prison for the rest of his life for taking pictures of the  secret Israeli nuclear facility and giving them to a foreign newpaper.

"The State of Israel is in possession of a secret written assurance from President Bill Clinton that the United States will continue to protect Israel’s clandestine nuclear weapons program from international pressure so long as Israel maintains its policy of “nuclear ambiguity” and refrains from overt testing of its atomic arsenal.

The Israeli newspaper Ha’aretz, citing undisclosed Israeli sources, broke that story in March . It said former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had wrung the pledge from Clinton after the Wye River peace conference in October, 1998, and that the new prime minister, Ehud Barak, is pressing Clinton to renew it.

The Clinton letter is a secret appendix to the Wye River memorandum signed by Clinton, Netanyahu, and Palestinian Chairman Yassir Arafat to re-start the off-and-on Middle East peace negotiations. Writer Aluf Benn described the document as a “small strategic treasure” in the office safe of Zvai Stauber, foreign policy adviser to Barak, who inherited it from his predecessor.

The letter is addressed to Netanyahu. Israeli sources say Barak wants an identical letter updated and addressed to him as part of his price for signing a peace agreement with Syria. The price also would include some $17-billion in additional U.S. military aid to Israel.

The Clinton letter also is seen as written formalization of long-standing but undeclared U.S. policy first negotiated with Israel by President Lyndon Johnson in the 1960s and followed by every President since then. The policy exempts Israel from the U.S. official stance against the spread of nuclear weapons in return for Israeli ambiguity on the subject."

They are not on our side. They are the reason we are in a global war on terror.

Larger Map

"Counties carried by Democrats are generally more densely populated. The county-by-county map, therefore, visually overstates the Republican share of the vote, because the Democratic votes are concentrated in fewer counties that cover a smaller land mass.

Princeton University professor Robert J. Vanderbei used "county-by-county election returns and latitude and longitude coordinates for county boundaries provided by the U.S. Census Bureau" to create a "JAVA graphic" map that better indicates the breakdown of voter preference in the 2004 election (view Vanderbei's map from the 2000 election here). Rather than just depict a county as red or blue, Vanderbei's map takes into account the percentage of the Democratic and Republican vote in each county, thereby using a shade of purple to represent closely contested counties."

I like this map better because it better shows how america is divided.
