Title: Xbox Flashing Green
Post by: dantheman on October 17, 2006, 12:34:00 PM
Someone gave me thier xbox as it doesnt work anymore he said it hasnt been modded and only opened up the xbox to see if he could tell whats wrong with it. When I start the xbox there is no video or audio. It boots with the an LED light of green and then turns off and turns back on with green and then turns off and turns on again with green and just keeps blinking green. If I press the eject button at the blinking it opens the dvd but still no video or audio. I tried opening it up and seeing to see if it has been tampered with and dont see anything. I determined thats its a 1.0 xbox if that helps.
If requested I can put up later a video of it first solid green then flashing green. Please help as if I get this xbox working I got myself a free xbox. Hopefully its not damaged to the point where i need to replace the hardrive and motherboard.

Sounds like a component knocked off the motherboard. Such as a capacitor or a resistor. Look over every inch of the board and see if you can find one missing.

I would check all connectors, Power, IDE, Power to the drives, Front Panel, etc, make sure they are all seated. Also check the underside of the MoBo, for anything unusual.

Mebby try booting with DVD and HDD not connected, see if it displays an error, or changes anything.

i tried booting without the hardrive and dvdrive and still same error i guess i will take out the mobo and look at the underside for anything broken or wierd. I doubt i will find anything if i still dont find anything cud i get a modchip to fix it?
