i agree with you on the punk part but i cant say the same for rap i love it and its been a form of music for many years before anyone's prolly ever heard about it so i actually think of it as a real form of music...

Most solo's are just randomly plucking strings with the odd wah and string bending (Thats basically all the Metallica solos )
and do you play guitar yourself
are you capable of creating your own solo or masterings someone elses
its more than just pull offs and hammer ons, it requires talent that basically all the bands today DO NOT have
kirk hammet from metallica is an awesome guitarist and most people can't mimic his solos perfectly
and look at people like randy rhoads and yngwie malmsteen do you think there solos and riffs are just walks through parks
i don't think so

Add Rancid and NOFX. Im not sure if they are punk or metal but they kick ass!
well NOFX has a lot of guitaring that is better than green day (kinda like its easy to rise through the rankings if you are in last place) but from what ive heard they have good guitaring at least decent.
i didnt take time to read the entire thing because ive heard it all before
differences between a valid music critic and a bitch:
bitches listen to the radio, download music and never go to concerts
people who can criticize music actually know what they are talking about. people that buy music, go to shows and concerts, and/or actually play music themselves.
the punk that you complain about today, its kids stuff. punk is a lifestyle that its same-name genre no longer promotes.
i listen to everything from jazz to thrash metal, and i think as long as the music seems to have a purpose (other than selling a record) than its worth my money.
