alot of the bands that megadeath posted, most of todays youth have heard of. im referring to ozzy, sabbath and aerosmith and the others. but depending to the stations that one listens to they could hear rush and good ol bands. and im not talking about classic rock stations. here in San Antonio on 102.7 KROK and 99.5 KISS they can hear the occasional rush and good bands, thats how i know of 'em. and today's youth- namely the rappers/r&bers- couldnt care 2 cents about rock or other genres of music. but a good rock band about the music that don't use computers is smile empty soul. <
hey im in SA too... weird... though i really dislike rush... cannot stannd the singer voice...
Yeah, I've learned some good riffs from Rush, but I'm not much on the singer either. <
gcskate- tottally off topic- whats the catch phrase this month for lisle and hahn? and i have a real problem: someone wants to but my ps2 and gta: vc and memory card for $125, should i do it?
ive always liked the beatles
The Ramones - Can't help but love those guys.
311 - Greatest band in the world, sad to say but thier new stuff is going in the wrong direction...
i like evolver, though the subject matter is a lot different than previous albums...

led zepplin
lynyrd skynyrd
AC/DC
Van Halen
Black Sabbath
Metallica
dont forget Kiss,Bad Company is pretty cool too
@GcSkate, Just saw'em in concert last Saturday in ATL. That shit rocked. Played everything from greatest hits, and some. Best concert I've been too.
Rush is the greatest band ever. I had the privilage to see them on Sunday, the show was the best I have ever seen, even better than KISS.
Rush - had most of their albums - never saw them live
Iggy Pop - (had to put him in as his stageshow was out of this world)
Lynyrd Skynyrd - saw them recently supporting Deep Purple
Black Sabbath - Saw then once back in the 80's
Metallica - still put on a good show
Iggy Pop was a genius. Most of the artists people listed here are shit.
SUBLIME
sublime isnt an old band...
Some old school garage and dnb, Goldie, 2pol etc.

wow someone stop me. Music doesn't mean the same to the bands now that it did to these people (with the exception of maybe morello who is still pretty recent). I know I missed a lot....feel free to add to it. names just keep on coming to me.....dickey betts, neil young, yngwie malmsteen.....not sure on all theses spellings. ok I'm done I promise.
EDIT: one more thing: trey anastasio and any "jam bands" not included. anyone listed above could've done what trey does 1000x better.
I'm 21 so I don't know how I would be considered an oldie.
I'm 19. Hell, I listen to a lot of new music, and I think it can be really good. I just think it could really improve even more. Some relatively new bands i listen to:
system of a down
taproot
chevelle
incubus
disturbed
rage against the machine
and a hell of a lot more....
for some reason i cant edit my own reply so....
Ray Charles
