The remote is a piece of junk but if you've got a universal you can just use that instead. Even still it's no worse the the the remote for any of the other selectors I've tried.

If so it's reported to have some problems with signal interference and switching certain PS2 versions. there's a thread on the AVS forums about it I believe.

No its not the Joytech, its not available commercially yet. He's talking about a ripoff of the Joytech box which EB has been selling. 'Intec' I think the brand is?
I have high hopes for the performance of the Joytech switch as it is supposed to fix all the problems of the past.

Well I just did a google search and it looks like it doesn't have descrete codes, what a pain in the ass. The good news is that the Joytech unit does have descrete codes, so I will probably pick up that unit.
I picked one up at Best Buy last night just so I'd have it right away. Hooked it up and then found out the LCD display had about a 25% segment failure
One thing of great interest was that the remote control had a power switch, and then
FOUR buttons numbered 1, 2, 3, 4, not just + and -. Seemed like good news, hoping for
descrete codes.
Anyway, I took the unit back and exchanged it, got the new one home and discoverd
a remote with only three buttons (power, source +, source -).
I went back again, checked two other boxes and found the same 3 button style remote. Went to
circuit city and found the same thing.
Maybe tech support can shed some light on this next week unless someone else has info.

I will let everyone know how the unit works when I get it, so far I can't find any negative reviews on the unit.

version replacing the old. I went to a 2nd Best Buy today and fund one on a shelf with 7 button remote.
The remote is the same size and shape as the three button version, but it has
specific 1, 2, 3, 4 buttons in addition to the on/off, and source + / source - buttons.
The package box between old and new is identical, even the picture of the remote on the back
still shows the three button version.
Stickers, shape, and look of the unit is identical too EXCEPT on the back. All the
input/output jacks are in the same locations, however on the newer version there
are graphical hash marks around the component input/output jacks.
The 7 button remote is not fully backwards compatible with the older unit
(no surprise). Power and source +/- work, but not the discrete select buttons.
I'm hoping now I can program my Harmany remote to select the specific
input sources when needed, no guessing if the previous state has changed.

It has inputs for Composite, Optical, Coxial and Computer for 4 sources. There is no upscaling or conversion, only switching with this unit. Actually the unit states that if you use coxial or optical in, it will output in both formats. I am still waiting on my optical cable order from monoprice.com so I haven't been able to test this yet.
There is no visual loss by using the unit that I can see. It works great with my legacy A/V receiver which I now use only to handle sound. The sound from the Zektor goes to the A/V receiver for 5.1 processing and amplification, and the component out goes to the Television. In theory you should only need to switch inputs using the Zektor and leave your television on Vid 1, and your A/V receiver on Vid 1, which makes programming your universal remote easy.
The only limitation of the unit is that it has only 4 component inputs, this should be fine in the short run until the mainstream manufacturers get their acts together to make a A/V receiver that has more than 2 component inputs. I guess you could chain two Zektors together to get a total of 7 inputs since each Zektor can have it's own IR commands.
I ordered my unit from Copperbox.com since the shipping to Canada was cheapest through this company.
