youre getting better, but you really might want to get some brushes... also your text dosent match at all. trust me i did the same thing when i first started psing. check out chaosgfx, com for some really good info and help.
also right now were still on sotw 15 so you might wanna change it, but the voting had begun so i think your sol on that one and will have to make a new sig
-
i now im going to enter the spider man in sotw 16 so i put sorw 16 on there where can i get some good brushes and renders from?

How do you do that, the effect with the light? I'd really like to learn how. Maybe someone could tell me or link me to a tutorial?

Filter> Render> Lens Flare

CHAOSGFX.COM best place in the world... great for renders, brushes and tuts in every thign you can think of.. and that light thing is in one of the filters... i cant remember exactly where. look on the chaosgfx.com tuts for some answers.
-
out of personal experience try and stay away from excessive use of filters, sure they can do some awesome things but generally its a dead end and when your done most people who know photoshop know exactly what you did
not sayind dont use them, but use them to blend things together
and blur/sharpen you can use all the time, those are my main filters
-
QUOTE(metaldevil @ Jan 24 2006, 03:50 PM)

You can't use pre-made sigs for SOTW contests. The point is for you to make a sig for the contest. Besides, the theme hasn't even been decided.
i didnt know you had to make the sig that week and if it fits the theme im going to enter it in sotw 16 but now i know i guess so whatever ill just do a new sig for sotw 16 if it dosent fit the theme

Seriously, not trying to be rude or anything, but why is this the only site you tell anyone to go to. Its allright if you help someone out and tell them a site but it cant be the greatest site in the universe or anything.
For renders you can check out www.gamerenders.com, and deviant art is where you can get brushes, or you can get them at chaosgfx or gamerenders. Good-tutorials is a great site where you can learn some of the basics.
By the way, I did check that site out and I used a tutorial of theirs in beastiekid's current sig.

Thats the thing, you cant even start working on a sig for sotw untill it is officially announced.
Odds are it wouldnt fit the theme anyways, since TV shows has been done, and movies. (since there is a scoobydoo movie)

ok i downloaded some brushes and i put them in D:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS2\Presets\Brushes and i was wondering if thats the right place cause adobe cant find them or whatever and there all .abr format so i dont know any ideas

I'd say it's a LITTLE hard to read and I might change the color a little more to contrast with the background and make it a couple points bigger, but I like the font.
How did you get that effect with the background? Did you just use different brushes with different colors for different strokes? I REALLY like the background.
-
borders:
create a new layer
select all (ctrl-A)
edit>stroke

edit>stroke again

and theres your border.

That is EXACTLY what I was talking about.
Don't you think that looks uncomparably better? The text before looked a little bland. This looks much more exciting.
I like the Halo sig as well, maybe make the render a little clearer (what is it, colored pencil, right? I'm not sure what the filter is called), and a little more stuff in the background.
You're getting much better.

i dont think its that he didnt like it, cus its really nice, its because he said he wanted the shape of the country incorporated in to it
really good, you are definately getting better
the spawn one is really nice, i think what it is, is the text is a little bright for the sig, and plain, and the scanlines are too far apart IMO
-
i tried getting canada in there but it was impossible imo and how do u get scanlines closer together and yes it is spawn
-
What does your scanline pattern looklike?
-
how do u make like a mirror effect on the text
-
another one and Yeah Im That Good.

-
use the image below as a pattern(make sure you press CTRL+A, before defining the pattern)

beleive it or not, there are 6 images there
they are each 3x3 pixels, but as you can see, it works just right
and for the mirror effect, first rasterize your text(right-click it) and then goto edit->transform->flip horizontal. then all you've got to do is select the
icon, and press SHIFT+G to choose the gradient fill, press "D" and then click below the text, hold shift, and drag upwards, let-up on the mouse, and voila!

h34d5h0tz later made him a better sig, right before he was banned.

ok here are some more

again

-
you should spend more time on your sigs. they are starting to look like not much effort or consideration was put into your works.
[EDIT] i would also suggest finding alot more brushes.
here is the sig i made that they where talking about btw:

heres another one took about 15-20 min well here it is prob crappy to yall to the left of the head it looks like theres another head there isnt it is multiple clicks of the the grunge brush which made the head looking shawdow figure you see

Maybe you would want to make the entire shadow, not just part of it? Also, you might want to do a color balance or hue/saturation, as the render REALLY blends into the background, like, a lot. Unless that is the effect you wanted, then I would change it.
You could use drop shadow, as well, to make the shadow.
-
te sigs are nice, but you arent matching the colours of your brushing with colours in your sig, ie: with a white MC use some white brushing and lightly brush over it with other colours

-
its not when you are saving it that you select transparent, its when you are making it
when you make a new document

-
does anybody know how i can get this effect or give me a tut cause this looks amazin that sketch thing is awesome

-
hmmm... not TOTALLY sure, but i think i know how they did it:
first they duplicated the image(in this case the colored image with the car) then they duplicated the layer(CTRL+J) and they went to image->mode->desaturate(i think that's the menu path, not near PS right now) go to filters->sketch->trace edges(once again, not sure about the path)... then it SHOULD be looking sortof like a drawing(other drawing filters can be applied) then just put a layer mask over it, and choose the gradient fill(SHIFT+G(until it selects it)) then click somewhere in the corner, and drag u pand to the left(not too far) and release... you SHOULD recieve something close to that effect.
good luck,
-Hazanko
-
if you still haven't solved the problem of the png white background, it's because Internet explorer doesn't display that image format properly. if you're not using IE then i don' t kno
-
I know how he did it, and I started on one to look like that, so far I have just the car part and im on to the background. I kind of thought that I should make it look like I drew it on paper.
-
sorry ive been busy here are some they arent that great but w/e i will add borders to the georges later

-
looks good
i think in your last supper one for SOTW17 you cropped it in a way that makes it feel like there is too much trying to be put into frame. from a photographers perspective with rule of thirds, your focus subject should be on a third dividing line, your heads are all at the top some cut off, and the table is down the center.
good job on the whole, your really workin hard
