the one you are using as your current sig isn't to bad, it could be better if you add some more detail to the background.

I would also like to point out that all of those except one was made today.. And the first one was my first attempt at a somewhat technical border.. Im still working on another right now but that one was my first.

the only thing i have to say is about the first one, i just dont think the border matches the sig, it looks good though, it actualy looks metal
other than that i think theyre good

the borders are pretty nice. why not give them a background to go with it? it would be good practice making the backgrounds.

lol I will, first I need to become comfortable with the whole tech sig before I can do it though> And also I encourage you guys to use those borders, I want to see your work

you should try to make your borders more like this. see how there is no really extreme fat parts, and extreme skinny parts. also, try to use 45 degree angles, and one or two 90 degrees. you might know this already but, hold alt to make them 45 degrees. one last thing, it might just be me but, when i do make tech borders like this, i try to make them really small. i dont like them to be taking up half of the sig. i hope this helps you, and id like to see your results.

Wow man, lol, that looks reall nice, but complicated. I didnt follow a tut on the ones I made, I just used what I had already learned about PS. If I can find a tut for a tech border like that i will give it a shot.

of all the sigs that ive made, i find that it looks better not to color the render. i started to change the layer style to pin light i think, and duplicate it enough so it colors the whole background while still keeping the render above the coloring layers.

I like to make the background the same color as the render, instead of making the render the same color as the background.

Here we go!
A few things that might look better if it were changed. The border around the signature is too thick. A simple 1 pixel border will suffice. Stick with your new texture, but lower it's opacity a little. We don't want to hide that background. The font choice... Simple: You need more fonts. Try this out. I recommend the font: "Freebooter Script" for this. It's a nice cursive font. Increase the size a little of the render so you fill some more of that empty space.

i agree that the border is to thick. and the font and the placement should be changed. i suck at picking fonts, but like nf said, a cursive font or wavey type would fit. as for placement, the corners are generic places. i would put the text on the cloth to the right of her head. the size of the render is fine though, the waving cloths compliment the background.

I took both of your advice and here is the result:
You cant really read the text though

The nice thing about the Freebooter Script is that it looks good when there anre capitals and lower case. I recommend that you mess around with "SOUPY" in lower case, and see if it looks any more legible. Also, mess around with the opacity of the stroke on the text as well. Do some layer styles. If you plan to put the text there, then there is no need for the excess space on the right in the signature. You can probably remove a good 50 pixels, maybe more. The border looks much better.

The render needs some love. Good border. Horrible text. Look into some small fonts. Try DaFont.com and search for "04".

try looking for some bitmap fonts, ones that you use at only like 8 size font.

try to stay clear of the generic text placement that is the corners. i too think that a pixel font would look good on this one. remember that when you do pixel fonts, dont use any of the 'smooth' 'strong' 'sharp' and the other one. they dont work well with pixel fonts. for the BG, try to find a brush that will add a little design. you dont want to make it reall strong because it will take away from the simplicty.

(I know h34d5h0tz is going to make a comment about the text placement .. I agree with him but I couldnt find anywhere else)

you knew i would say something, and you where right. i usualy like to put my text around highly contrasted areas. so for the first sig, pretty much anywhere on her white cloth would look alright.

i dont like the green outline on the text. there is no green in the whole sig. i can see how your going with the christmas/holiday theme, but the green doesnt fit. a black or white 1px with lowered opacity would have looked better.

I agree, but other than that, I think that sig is some of your best work yet.
