I think my favorite entry of mine is the one for SOTW #5: Videogames. Yes, it's the one I've been using as my current sig for the past week or so. I love the curves I added to it to. I also think the overlaid speedometer is a great touch.

I think the worst sig out of all the entries in all the contests is probably my Batman Begins rip-off for SOTW #6: Movies. I was going to submit a Fight Club sig at first, but I got so terribly bored with it that I fell back on the last movie I saw at the movies. I did put some semblance of effort into it by replicating the bat logo with the pen tool. It wasn't a fun entry to submit. It was just there. Less boring than the Fight Club one, though.

i would like to see and extreme sports theme in the near future, I love anything to do with snowboarding I would also like to do a "from scratch" sotw, where no image are allowed, the sig must be made from scratch.

Gaussian blur on the edges will do you some good, and make the renders fit nicely into the background. I believe there is a tutorial on our EMP Forums.

state cowboy, i would recommend to just look around at other peoples work for your own ideas and do a whole bunch of tutorials to find out how everything works. also join the emp forums, we have a few good tutorials to get you going.

this render that we will use, is it going to be pre-cut or are we going to have to cut it out ourselfs. i like cutting it out ourselfs because there is a lot of people entering that just throw some brushes on, some color, and a random render they found on a website.

how about a self portrait SOTW, every has to have a picture of themselves in the picture. doesn't matter how close or far away the picture is, as long as you are in it.

That depends on if Awal posted the picture of the duck and skeleton first instead of the R6: LD pic. But if Awal never posted the duck/skeleton pic, and if wadata04 already had the sig made using the skeleton/duck pic, then he entered the contest without checking the source render. So it would be his fault. I wasn't here when Awal started the thread, so I don't know if he did or didn't start the SOTW with the skeleton/duck pic. What do you suggest, Himura?

I don't agree with that idea. Nothing would stop the winner from going against everyone's wishes and making a lame theme like Halo. And nothing would stop any successive winners from doing the same theme over and over. It would take the fun out of having the XS graphics community share their opinions about what they'd like to see next.

there would be rules of course, like:
1: you cannot choose a theme that has been used in the last 8 weeks.
2: no halo themes.

i dont think an XS tribute would be good because, as we have noticed from past sotw, (or atleast i have) constrictive topics like one render dont turn out very well. more broad topics like tech, abstract and freestyle seem to have better, more diverse entries. i looked at the sigs that cowbell has been making, and got the idea of media players. we should make a media player(still fallow the rules, 450x125 and no animation).

Media Player SotW is not really a good idea because there are really only three people here that know how to make a good one. I'd rather keep XS Signature of the Week contests easy and user friendly.

Nice work, buuuuuuuuut it is sliiiiightly over XS size restrictions... I don't think you'll have to worry though, it's only 46KB

And the poll thing, I don't think there will be a poll. It's too easy for people to send out requests for votes on other websites and then have the people just register vote, and then never see XS again. It's all about security.

I just witched to 800*600, and it's pretty big.  You might want to give it a quick check yourself and make a judgement call.  Or ask Awal.
I don't know how you guys can use those resolutions.  I HATE anything other than 1024*768.  And I mean HATE.  Maybe it's becasue I grew up with it, IDK.  I would never use anything else, though.

You would make your sig, then use some effects to make it seem as though a set of words appears dark where the shadows are, etc.

I saw a tut on how to do it with an image, and in B/w.  Challenge would be to make it in color which would be hard, not some 2 minute job, and then to make it look good.  

I thought it was a good idea.

you are exactly right. and that is why i stopped trying in my sotw entries. i dont like the idea of myself spending 1-2 hours working on a sig with 100 layers, and having a 2 minute, crop and slap a text on sig win. around sotw 7, to be exact.

The tv was straight forward but i had to extend the rightside of the orange dude pic so i could resize it in a 450x140 ratio.
I only had sunday to work on it, and the idea came to me really quickly so it really wasn't much work at all.

If your curious, my succubus sig from SOTW 19 took the longest to do. Second to SOTW 18 (bike with dust spelling iffy). SOTW 21 (tech sig) - i had absolutly no idea what to do. I just through some crap together just so i could enter.

My skill is currently limited, so if i don't get inspiration for a great idea, my work suffers.
