Title: Re-installing A New Modchip....flash Bios Question

For one i am a noob, please be patient......

I recently broke my solderless spiderchip for a version 1.6, I am wandering what is the best way to get a new chip flashed and up and running without effecting the hard drive. I have a ton of games and files on the HD that i want to keep and i fear that installing this new chip will mess with the HD. Any help or info would be really appreciated.thanks

Also, does anyone know if i do flash the chip will it effect the HD
