Title: Xbox Not Working After Travel, Plz Help
Post by: justinbrenton on February 08, 2006, 04:27:00 PM
Can anyone help me?

I have a modded xbox with the x3 mod chip, 160 gig hard drive and my xbox will not work after a flight which was a carry on.

description of problem, If i turn on the xbox it will automatically turn right off, again i try to turn it on the 2nd time and it will do the same thing, it will turn right back off, the 3rd time it will turn on but i am getting no signal on my tv and also the red and green lights are flashing back and forth, btw this happens everytime i try, it will not turn on the first 2 times i try and the 3rd time it will turn on, before all this happened only the green light on the front of the xbox would be on. anyone know what this might be?

If you have a solderless adapter for your chip, it may have moved off the lpc.

here's a picture of the mod chip, definately looks to me like it's soldered ie all the wires going into the xbox, btw is that a torque screwdriver to open the xbox?

That is not your chip. That is the bank select for the chip. Some one else must have modded your box for you. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)  get a torx 20 to open the case and the little screws inside are torx 10's. The chip will be under the dvd drive.

here are some pictures of the modchip and leads, when i opened the case the chip looked like it was lop sided a bit to the side where it clips into the pins on the motherboard.

It looks like the X3 lifted off of the LPC...push it down gently and secure it.

The chip looks fine. I think that your problem mite be it is on the wrong bank. Use the bank select on the front of the xbox to switch to the first 1 mb bank. set it to 1st switch on, 2nd on, 3rd off, 4th off.
