So you don't need the manager.
Steps:
1- use slayers disk, or config Magic
2- Unlock the HDD(stock)
3- Place new HDD in
4- Load slayers CD and install what you want and then choose to lock it.
XboxHDD manager is for unlocking HDD's that you don't have a EEPROM to get into. Say you take a HDD out of another xbox and you want to put it in another one. Then if you didn't unlock it then you use xboxhdm.
For what your doing you are using the wrong software and the wrong method.

In the tutorial it says some computers won't relock the HDD. It's a bios security feature. I have the same issue with my HP. It won't lock the HDD. I put it in my buddies computer and it locked fine.
Look up the tutorial and you'll see the same thing, from others who posted. You can get through everything and it will say something about security enabled. Some computers just won't lock it.

yeah, no harm taken... ok, so far ive tried to unlock it from 2 different computers. both from which i have been able to unlock other hard drive on them before. also, when i try to do it and it gives me the hard drive security features, it says that Security supported and Security enabled and Security locked are all on yes when im guessing it should be NO. anyone have an idea on what i should do? thanks.

well i go to hook mine back up and it gives me an error 05...so i figure i just lock it and im ok right? well i lock it and it then gives me an error 06 so i figure i locked it with the wrong epprom so i go to unlock it...it doesnt work.
i have all three discs ive ever locked a hard drive with they all worked great befor but now they will not unlock this hd...all three say they are trying to unlock the hd then go to "detecting drive status" and all the disc say its locked...any ideas on how to get it to unlock...i have both epproms ive ever locked it with

I'm using xboxhdm to build a new hard drive for a friend on an old xbox in which the old hard drive went bad. I build an eeprom reader from unicron's tutorials and successfully read the eeprom. I transferred the files from my modded xbox, the c and the e drive, and took the eeprom.bin file and created an iso using xboxhdm tools. Using the disc burned from that iso, I began to create a new xbox drive. The problem I'm having is getting the new drive to lock. Everything seems ok when I type lockhd -a, but the error the xbox gives me when I install the drive is error 5 (hard drive not locked).
The message I receive after typing lockhd -a and then y to continue
HDD Serial: WD-WMA6Y4644657
HDD Firmware revision: 18.20D18
HDD Model: Yes
Security supported: No
Security locked: No
Security frozen: No
Security count expired: No

Check the contents of the eeprom file in Windows with LiveInfo beta 3, the serial no should match the xbox sticker's serial no.

Is this a typo as well? Is the hdd a 20Gb or 200Gb? A WD200BB-60AUA1 ?
http://xboxdrives.x-pec.com reports mixed results for WD200BB-XXXXXX

This means that the code you need to use to lock any given HDD, is unique to that specific HDD. If you're attempting to use the same code with both drives it's not gonna work.
Backup your system EEPROM, then use the Linux based locking tools included with XBoxHDM to lock the drive by having them read that EEPROM backup directly. This is not only easier, it also prevents you from accidentally placing a lock on the drive with an unknown code via, say, a typo (not easy to unlock if you do this).
