Man thats sucks bad.... that is such a sweet bike too.  I hope your ok.

I had a similar spill a long time ago.  I was coming up behind a dumptruck on a corner and a huge chunk of mud/clay fell off the back of the truck. I hit it square on while leaning pretty good and laid her down.  Was a 1985 Yamaha RZ500, man I loved that bike.  Was damaged about as much as yours is, but being that it was a rare bike it was almost impossible to find parts(upper fairing, side fairing... etc)  Fixed it up and rode it for a few more years without incident, but sadly had to sell it to buy an engagement ring.

Hope you get it all fixed up again, and get back in the saddle (so to speak).

At least it's just (well, seems at least) the plastics, time to sand em down and repaint! Go wild! Hehe, glad to hear you are ok, invest in some frame sliders, some good quality ones will save the plastics! (Did for the most part on my bike at least)

I fully expected to be able to put a pic of my (totaled) bike here too.

I was involved in an accident a little over a week ago.  I was riding home from work (an hour ride) on the highway and it started to rain.  So I checked my mirrors, did a head check, and pulled into the *emergency lane* and began to slow down so I could stop under an underpass and put on my rain gear.

I slowed down to 35-40 mph, and the next thing I know, I'm in the air.  Some woman slammed into me from behind and I landed probably 60 feet from where I was hit.  I couldn't move and the paramedics took me to the emergency room.

I escaped with a couple sprained fingers, a bruised tailbone, some road rash on my knee (my legs were the only things not well-protected), and some bruising and soreness.

My gear probably saved my life.

...

But that's not the point of my story...

I never got a chance to see the bike (although I smelled smoke) since I was laid out on the pavement.

So I went to the wrecker to check out my bike.  He tells me that someone cut the chain to the junkyard and stole the bike.  Nothing else went missing.

I was speechless.  I said, "I KNOW the bike was totaled."  He agrees, and says that it wasn't worth the wrecker fee to haul it back to the junkyard.  I say, "I just got new tires, maybe that was it..."  Nope, he says the tires were torn up, and the back wheel was bent.  OK, maybe they wanted the Corbin seat.  Nope, he says he removed the gas tank and the seat, and showed them to me.  OK, maybe the engine survived?  Nope, he says the engine block was cracked and that's the smoke I smelled.

Fishy... I have my own theory, and while it's not the best time or place for me to mention, I know it seriously lowers my opinion of certain people involved, and it's not the wrecker...

But I took a pic of the only things left: the seat and the gas tank, and I can take pics of my damaged helmet, boots, gloves, and jacket soon wink.gif

Wow everyone here is crashing their bikes

I actually amost got hit by an idiot ricer driving too fast in town the other day, he was flying through an intersection and didnt see me until it was too late, I had no way to stop in time as I was out in the intersection (and was totally in the right because he was turning left, and didnt look)
but he swerved the other way in his super handleing stock honda civic and nearly hit another car doing that.

basically I am going to go ricer bashing next time I see him.....  grr.gif

Well my bike's ridable as is. Ill probably wait until it goes up for winter to repair the plastic. Fairings for that bike are on ebay often so it shouldnt be a huge issue.

All Im waiting for is a new helmet. Remember, your gear saves your live in a crash. Don't ride without it.

I rode to work today with just my helmet (had a T-Shirt and Shorts on) because my car had broken down and I was an hour late as was, I've NEVER felt so naked and scared riding that bike... and the fastest I went was 25 through some neighborhoods.

I'll never ride without gear again, its not worth it.

And not to try and take away your *ahem* 15 minutes of fame Rylinkus (figuratively speaking of coruse) I almost beat someones face in last night... I pull up to a intersection by my house, its dark out, not so dark I cant see, but dark enough that the only light is from a few street lamps. So just as I get ready to go I do my last check of the other streets (left right, straight ahead, it was a 4 way stop bythe way) and start to release my clutch just as I notice a flash of red from my periphreial vision. Some jackass in a Explorer who was on his phone and talking to his wife, driving without his lights on, blew right through the stop sign, if he even bothered to slow down it wasnt much.

So I give the old 1 finger salute, he slams on his brakes and backs up to me, rolls down his window (hes still on the phone I guess and his wife/girlfreind is yelling at him to just go) and starts yelling "What the fuck you stupid fucking biker?", I lost it at that point "You dumbass, you ran that stopsign and had it happened a split second earlier you'd have hit me you stupid cockbiting fucktard", he gets this look like I just date raped his mom "I ought to beat your ass you punk kid". So I pulled my ace of spades heh "Go ahead, lay a finger on me, I dare ya. I'm 17 bitch, I'll make sure you dont get out of jail till your schpincter [sp] is big enough to park your fucking SUV in". So he stops and still yells some shit to me, turns to his wife and says something (I couldnt hear) so I just get to pissed at this point, I punched in his driver side mirror, I dont know that I broke it but it certainly seemed like it. Then I just sped off, if he followed me he didnt keep up very well...

If it weren't for the full-face helmet, jacket, gloves, and boots, then I would have SERIOUS rash, maybe broken:  face, toes, arms, shoulder, chest, knuckles, fingers, palm...

Well, glad to hear you are ok (Both Rylinkus and Perplexer), and Perplexer, any chance that the tow/salvage company took the bike? A freind of mine had his bike in for service at a local dealership and it was 'stolen'. After a thorough investigation and such they found that the owner had been stealing bikes and parting them out for a few years, then selling them on eBay.

Im thinking maybe a totally straight color. No graphics. No nothing. Just one solid color. Probably a pearl or chromalusion of some type. Thoughts? (It's NOT gonna be an Xbox 360 themed bike) I have to sell this thing at some point and a 360 bike aint gonna sell.

That's what you think. Smack "Limited Edition: 01/02" on it and make up a story of how the second one crashed and burned, then throw it on ebay, and you got some serious cash.

I have a guy who will do paint work for free as he owes me. (His job mainly.) So all I need to pay for is paint and help in any way I can. I think a solid color in a "fancy" paint will make it "custom" I'd like to be able to sell if for roughly half a Hayabusa next summer if that's possible. I really love the look of the busa.

Unless your getting a pearl paint (different light's changes the colour) or a paint with sparkles in it don't get a solid colour. They really look boring IMO.
IPB Image
even only two colours is fine
IPB Image
you won't need to do flames or some crazy graphic, a couple of stripes would work. Something like below but without the logos and the black section. Just stripes, are enough, their really simple to do when you paint.
IPB Image

I'm not saying get yellow, I just used these three for an example.

BTW - i love the CBR if you didn't get it already. biggrin.gif

1) The only (in my opinionof course) good color that looks good as solid is a flat back, and only if you go with a monocrome look to the bike.
2) If you DO paint it a solid color, you can just buy a new sticker/graphics key from Yamaha, you can for Suzuki at least
3) Only get a Busa if you plan on some serious drag racing. Those bikes suck at handling as compared to a regular Gixxer, or a CBR. Those bikes were made for one reason, so Suzuki could say they had the fastest bike. If you really want a bike with that much power get a GSX-R1000 and get a larger bore kit, you'll have just as much power and just as sporty a bike (handling wise).

I'm not trying to tell you what to get, I'm just giving some advice from what I've read from everyone else who owns a Gixxer that I know (I also frequent www.gixxer.com). If you live in a place with mostly straight/flat roads, go for a Busa, that would be some insane power... But for me at least (because I as well was looking at getting a older Hayabusa) with all the mountains I would have been miserable with one in the mountains..

Again, just my 2 cents, I'm not trying to tell you what to do.

I was thinking a pearl or something that changes color. Not a mere flat color. More Im wondering if anyone has any thoughts on something that's going to look special when light hits it right.

Honda makes a few colors in an really interesting flat finish.... up close it almost looks rough but from a bit of a distance it looks like the bike is covered in dew... while it's flat it also has a slight perlescent finish to it... really cool. I always told myself that if I were to repaint any of my cars I'd get it done in that finish. I wish I knew what it was called but I'm sure if you go to a honda dealership you can pick it out. My father had a honda with this finish in something very close to a Kawasaki green, I've also seen it in black.

As for the 360 paint job... you could always go straight pearlesent white with the green swirls, doesn't actually have to say 360 on it anywhere... Think like a console with the E305 faceplate (minus the text)... I would envision the swirls eminating from the front wheel large across the front of the bike. the frame and engine could be left silver/grey maybe with the occasional chrome accent. I think it would look sweet.

Another option is to just leave the plastics off and just go streetfighter style. My brother Just picked up a new Triumph Speed Triple... very little plastic on it, none at all in the front, easily the coolest looking bike I've ever seen.

His last bike was an Suzuki SV750 I think? He was heavy into stunt riding for a while... lets just say he got used to riding around without plastics laugh.gif

here's an example of a pearl paint (not even sure if it's called a pearl paint)
IPB Image
the truck is red but when the sun hits it, it turns yellow

I'm haveing a hard time finding an example but when you ride at night with alot of street lights the paint ripples like water. It's so fucking cool.

I know that when you apply the paint there's an undercolour that goes under the "pearl paint" and thats what changes colour. The light shines through the "pearl" and hits the under colour.

This effect look fucking awsome on cars. I've never seen a bike do it though. Should look amazing.

The way I look at it is this. Fancy paint is super expensive. But my bike has limited surface to paint and itll help counteract the cost. Add to that free labor and it seems like I need something cool.

And I like plastic. Street fighter style aint happening on this guys end.
