Title: Question About Car Problem

alright, ive got a strange problem combined with almost no knowledge about cars and am wondering if any of you could help...

sometimes when first starting my car the first turn i make will be rather difficult to steer into and will be accompanied by a loud screech... thing is, is that it only happens when ive got the ac on... any ideas?

while ive got little in the way of car knowledge, i can usually work out and fix problems for myself... most 'difficult' car maintenance ive done is replace my starter...

any help would be greatly appreciated...

id bring it to a garage and they can fix it, but it sounds like the power steering pump is on the fritz

Ya, its a belt issue... too loose or just plain ol' smoked, tighten or replace as required.

I concur.  The sound is the tell tale mark of a belt problem.

yup, the good ol' sound of the belt
