TRY TO SERIOUSLY FOLLOW UP ON THIS!!

Dont Buy gas on September 3rd!!!!
Boycotting the gas company will decrease the price dramatically. Ive checked into it and if over half the US didnt buy gas for 1 day, the gas companys would be close to bankrupcy!!! So Lets show them how to lower gas prices. We have to get the word out. Its NATIONAL DONT BUY GAS DAY!!!
So tell every body!!!

the only problem with this is that half the nation isn't on XS. i understand about wanting to send a message to the oil industry but realistically it won't do any good.

you have the right Idea, call your local news stations, and CNN and everything, and get everyone else to do the same. Write us up a proposal to send to CNN in an email and stuff

Even if you truly got half the people in the US (is this half the POPULATION or half of the people acctually buying gas?) to not buy gas for one day, would it really help? I doubt, very seriously, that the oil companies would be close to bankruptcy, if HALF the people dont buy gas then they would only get HALF as much money. Thats not close to bankruptcy, thats a dent in their pocket. And what happens the next day? Wouldnt the gas companies recover? How long do you expect to hold out on a 'gas strike' AND keep half the nation on your side. Sorry, I'm not going 2 weeks without driving.

haha .. no shit. if you tell everyone to not buy gas the 3rd, people will flood the gas stations on the 2nd to be sure to have enough gas to get thru.. this would cause higher-than-average sales for the 2nd

Just stop paying for gas... Go in fill up your tank then tell the cashier your not payin cause the price is to high.

If everyone does this on the same day, gas companys will be forced to lower prices since no one is paying anymore.

Look...Your barking up the wrong tree here! The problem is'nt "Big Oil", the problem is "Big Lib's"! Every time we in the U.S. try to do something to reduce our dependancy on forign oil, weather it be drilling in A.N.W.A.R. or off of our coasts, the enviromental wacko grennie wienies(i.e. anti capitalists, socialists,comunists) come out of the woodworks and stuff up the whole works. Thus we are at the mercy of OPEC, who dont have our best interests at heart anyway. Here in the U.S., we have'nt built a refinery in close to 40 years.....40 freaking years!!! And again, thanks to the greenie wienies, we have some 40 custom blends of gas across the U.S. which is rediculous!! So until we start electing politicians in this country who wont bow down and bend over to the liberal special interest groups (such as the Sierra Club and a host of others) were not going to see any relief from high gas prices! Oil independence...we have the resources and the technology....we just need some congressmen with some balls to do something about it!

We havent exactly been churnin' out warships either, the ones we built back in the sixties and fifties are still kicking some ass. Besides, how would building a new oil refinery (which would cost money and cause a rise in price to cover the cost of it) affect prices in a positive way anyways?

Did I say Republican or Democrats...No, I did'nt, I said Liberals. I dont see conservatives sticking a plug in advancement every time I turn around..I see Liberals, and we are at the mercy of OPEC because of them and spagetti spined congressmen. New technology would make gas production much cheaper in the U.S., hence....LOWER PRICES! I get my info from covering the political gammet for 14 years, watching, listening, reading.....double checking what I hear and read from many different sources. Its all out there, especially since the web came along, do some research.

There is no blame to be put on people for using the gas, just the folks that want to keep us from drilling here in the U.S.  Hell, I could care less how much gas tom or sally uses...more power to em'. And I'm not talking about short term relief, there really isnt anything we can do for short term relief, but if we had started this, say...after the Carter administration then we would'nt even be having this discussion right now. With the world consumption of oil on the rise(especially China), we had better start doing something PDQ or it will get worse. We've been through this before in the before mentioned Carted administration, when you figure in inflation, gas prices were just as high during the latter portion of his administration, albiet for different reasons, but the point is that this is not some new huge record in gas prices (ask your folks youngsters). You'd think they would have had some forsight back then. Again, just like people here tell the Noobs....Search and you shall find, or you can continue to soak up the hoards of misinformation and propoganda that is rampant in todays media...your choice.

For me riding public transportation isnt an option neither is riding a bike. I live out in the country on top of a hill. I could get down the hill rather quickly, but getting back up would take 2-3 hours, then i have a 6 mile ride to town, and then i have to go across a bridge into another state, then 5 miles from that bridge to my job... that wouldnt work out because i would have to leave at like 4 AM to get there by 8. Plus there are no bus stations that go to my town because we are so small.

Smaller cars for places like here would work fine. Understand that some people absolutely have to have a car to get around whether they are old, or just out too far to walk ot ride. I plan on getting a street bike whenever i can afford one, that will help me alot on gas.

Why don't they just give everyone with a car a card they have to scan at the pumps. (hell, even put a barcode on insurance cards so EVERYONE has to have insurance to get gas.) Then, people scan thier cards and it tracks how much gas they have gotten over x amount of time and charges them exponentially. Making big gas guzzlers pay even more at the pumps and those with the enviroment in mind a break. They can go ahead and give farmers or people who rely on gas for work (truckers, etc) leaner standards.
This'll never leave the ground, but I can see it working in theory.

there is almost no gas left in my whole town.  There are only a couple of stations that still have regular left, and they limit the amount of gas you can buy. Its up to about 3.20 a gallon from 2.20 last week situation is getting pretty bad.
