I've bought a second hand XBox for the main purpose of using XBox media center. Strangely my SDG-605F drive can't play retail audio CDs using the soundtracks function of the MS dash, Xbox games and DVDs videos are fine. I went ahead and modded my XBox and now have XBox media center installed and still retail audio CDs are not recognised, in fact all CD types (audio, data & CD-Rs) I've tried don't work, the drive reports to be empty.
From scouring the internet I've learnt that the F revision of the samsung drive does not read CD-Rs but I have read nothing about them not being able to read audio CDs. I'm wondering if flashing the drive with the revision B drive's firmware would help or if it would even work with the revision F drive?
Has anyone encountered this problem?
