Hi there
I have a second xbox (ver 1.2) that some times (about 1 in 5 times) boots but if it is turned off it will not boot again for another 5 min.
I have to remove the Power from the xbox and then Plug it back in after about 5 min.
I have tested the Case for grounding and it does not seem to be the problem as this happens when the xbox main bord and power supply is fully removed from the case shell.
The power supply seems to be working fine as i have tested this on a second 1.3 xbox with out any problems.
Does any one know any tuts on where i can fix this problem or any idears on where i start looking.
Many thks

How long did you leave the PSU on the second xbox? It sounds like a weak PSU but it also could be related to something weak on the mobo through possible heat fatigue.
I guess there also might be a issue with the TSOP? Hard to be exact without actually looking at it, sorry.

I have a problem pretty close to that. I just recently bought a 1.2 mobo off ebay to replace my fried 1.4 i swapped eeprom chips with the broke mobo and the new one. i booted it up and it ran perfectly but upon rebooting it shows no vid and the drive wont eject. some times if you reboot it like five times it will reboot but usually you have to wait it out and then it will reboot. i have tried a new psu p/e board dvd drive and hard drive. the soldering is perfect. so i think i got a bad mobo off ebay. (to bad i only booted it up once before swapping eeproms if i had rebooted it i mite have seen if it had the same problem before the swap was made.
Sorry i cant be of much help but i would say just keep trying new parts until you find it. like the p/e board and such.

I'd say it was your TSOP too. Probably a corrupted BIOS or TSOP.. best bet is to solder the TSOP enable points and flash it with an X2 bios
It's fixed a few 1.2 - 1.4s for me that had exactly the same symptoms.
How to's are on here in the TSOP section, I'd recommend the 007 (agent under fire) raincoat package (from the usual place).
Or get a modchip. (personally I'd do the TSOP 1st then if you mess that up you can get a modchip after LOL)

Well i added a muppert chip last nifgt and flashed with a bios and tested it out and still haveing the same problem. so its no a TSOP or Bios problem. But some thing else strange is now happening.
When the xbox boots with the chip on or off (makes no difrence) the Animaction at the begining Stuters !!!! and then hangs for 10 - 15 seconds then boots into Dash or evox x (depening if Chip is on) real strange - never came across these problems before.

I'd say stuttering animation on the flubber / sound is DVDROM not connected, or going bad (usually Philips) or the IDE controller part of the MCPX is going, or the hard disk is slow / failing or the IDE cable is struggling.
I still say it's your TSOP and flashing it would work
Go on you know you want to....
X2 4981.06 all the way!!
