ok, to begin with, yes this is a double post, I originally posted this in the newbie chat forum, and while I know that double posting is against the rules, I am only doing so because the one person who replied to me in that forum said that I should post it here. with that said, if the mods still think this should be deleted, that's fine.
anyway, on to the topic:
i have a v1.0 softmodded xbox with a new 160gb WD HDD that I put in a while ago. it has been working for several weeks with no problems. A few days ago I moved my xbox from my room to the living room, where it continued to work for a day or two. Ever since then, however, whenever I turn on the xbox (even after moving it back into my room), i keep getting flashing red light w/ error code 08. Furthermore, when I power on, it won't allow me to eject the dvd tray.
the error list says this:
"Service Error 08
Info: No Harddisk found.
Solution: Check the IDE Connection/Cable and check the Power Supply. "
So I opened up the box, removed and reconnected the IDE cable to the back of the dvd drive and the HDD, but still it doesn't work. I'm not terribly comfortable messing around w/ the mobo, so the HDD swap was the furthest i've gone in terms of modding, so I've never touched the mobo, the power supply, etc, and I wouldn't really know what it would look like if something was wrong.
Because of the dvd tray not ejecting, it kind of sounds like a power problem to me, but I'm really just guessing. Does anyone know what I can do, or what the problem might be?
