Title: Xbox Wont Read Halo 2 Disc

Recentely, i've been playing Counter-Strike for xbox because Halo 2 wont read on my xbox. I even tried borrowing a friends copy of Halo 2 and it still didnt work. Every game plays except for Halo 2. What happens is a dirty disc error comes up. I dont think its the laser in the DVD drive because every other game works fine. I think its more of a hardware issue. Does anyone have the answer to fix my xbox so it plays Halo 2?

I'm having a similiar problem, but it recognizes my Halo 2 disc as a DVD sometimes, sometimes it gives a DDE. My disc is nearly spotless, but I was told it has to do with it having movie data files on the disc. What DVD drive ya got?

lol thompson it sucks but it still works. I think its hard drive related not dvd. Because every single game works except for halo 2. I even deleted all the Halo 2 Files on my hard drive still no luck

bump...hope its allowed lol but i really need an answer i haven't been able to play halo 2 for a month or two

1. delete all of your cache.

2. Delete the contents of E:\TDATA\4D530064\$U
Do not delete the $C folder unless you have a way to get your DLC back, or E:\UDATA\4d530064 (that's your saves)

A corrupted autoupdate will definitely give you a DDE

I believe the xbox has become self-aware, and realizes the trememdous disappointment that Halo 2 is compared to halo, and now refuses to allow the nonsense to continue.  

Perhaps it might work on a box which has never seen the original halo.

Im about to the point to buy a used xbox off ebay just to get halo 2 to work. Cuz no one knows how to fix it. I called xbox they wanted me to send it in for repairs lmao the serial seal is broken when i modded it so i guess i can't do that.

It's defiently the Thomson drive if none of the above advice worked out. Every game in my collection function fines with my Thomson except for Halo 2. I've seen some Thomson drives read it perfectly, and some not read it all, so it's really just the luck of the draw depending on which you get. Check out the BST forums here if you're looking to buy a drive, sometimes you can find a nice deal on "new" or "rarely used" drive.

Yea, thanks for your help man i will probably buy a samsung dvd drive off ebay. Will that work with the old xbox 1.0? Because i have the first orignal xbox case off and everything and was just wondering if i would replace the dvd drive that it would still work.

lol your right but this forum is really active and ive asked here before, the topic just went dead. I might buy a Samsung DVD Drive Replacement for the xbox. I have version 1.0 and was just wondering if this might work and fix my problem.

Btw, i did try chancler's thing with my softmod and it did not work, i also tried a friends game and a rented one from a hollywood video for halo 2 and it did not work either.
