Post by: TH!RDEYE on June 28, 2005, 12:49:00 PM

I think is a beta live debug xbox.It has a pinheader installed and just
standard 64ram.Well I dont think the recovery cd would work, its
not a standed debug/dev kit.Check all the wires and make sure
everything is plug in properly. And you can try to install a chip
on it with debug bios.I dont know if the eprom is blank or not.
Well thats all I know for now.

i would really like to know what that header near the fan is for.

Post by: Tobb555 on June 29, 2005, 02:36:00 AM
could this be the same motherboard as the XDK and that header connects all the extra boards. I dont know much about the special xboxes such as the XDK or debug but its a possibility.

Post by: sapper on June 29, 2005, 03:32:00 AM
but if it was xdk or debug it would be a 1.0 version mobo if im not mistaken. His is clearly a 1.1 (note thier is no daughterboard) also i believe the xdk have 128meg ram and his is 64 by the pictures.

Bad DVD drive, maybe heat shock failure.  If its a Thomson, just get another one, or better yet, a new Philips.

I've been told that this is an eval xbox.  Apparently they gave them out way back when before the xboxes were released for evaluation purposes...

As i look more and more at that board I see that its not a 1.0 OR a 1.1.

I'm just gonna call it 0.9

Many things about it are different from a 1.0 or 1.1, just compare it with these boards and you'll see.

All over the board, capacitors and other things are different.

the plug for the GPU fan (which is still present on 1.1-1.6) is not there.

A very odd board indeed.

here, ive highlighted all the areas that appear to be different from a 1.0 OR 1.1 board:

user posted image

1. The area around the bottom left is totally different.

2. Just to the right of that, the use of surface mount caps instead of through hole.

3. MCP instead of MCPX

4. No eeprom

5. Different ICS chip (square)

6. Funny plug where GPU fan plug should be

7. extra cap near the video encoder

8. that plug by the CPU

Actually,
it says MCPX Mode 2 on the chip.

I said it's fitted with an MCP, which it is, revision XMODE2

...You can't move the 'X' over to make an MCPX, lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Trust me, I already have two PROTOTYPE Dev Kit with motherboards fitted with XMODE2, MCP's, they pre-date the MCPX release by about three weeks.

...XMODE2 is the 'fastest' revision from early August 2001.

...Here's some other spec's for yer to chew over...

Front-side bus clock = 135 MHz
CPU clock = 742 MHz
GPU clock = 210 MHz
Memory clock = 202 MHz

...Yes you read right 742 MHz CPU, rather than the FINAL 733 MHz smile.gif

Neat, an overclocked XBox, is the MCP boot block the same?  And if it was chipped, could it be used like a normal XBox, and could you take off the heatsinks and show us the CPU and GPU?

Also, would a RAM upgrade take away from the value of the system, along with an X3 / TSOP flash?

It looks like the EEPROM is right by the 3 big caps on the left hand bottom corner, and if I'm not mistaken, there's a battery on board, perhaps for the RTC or its right below the crystle.  That would be incredibly cool...  And I'll up my offer, a Modded XBox, w/ a 20gb hdd, and anything else you want, like an N64 or a SNES.

...no you cant just install a modchip with a modbios (at least none of the publicly released ones)...

you said it belonged to the company you work for?

ask how/from who/when they got it.

and i see 2 chips that could be eeprom:

1 by the capacitors in the lower left corner
2 by the AV plug

that is just based on chip size/number of leads.

Well,

I've decided to put the motherboard on Ebay.

IF you're interested, check it out here

I know some of you pm'd me about purchasing or trading it,  so if you're still interested, I figured this is the safest way to assure that neither of us get screwed in the transaction...

Moderators:  I'm not sure if I can post this here,  please let me know
if this is a problem.
