About the lagging, when you join a room, check the other player's ping time before you get into the game. If their ping is in the red zone, most likely it'll lag sometime because of those one or two players.
Another note, when you join the Halo 2 room (or any other), private arenas are the best way to play. Many players host games in the public area which to me are always laggy.
EDIT: yaazz, what is that guy trying to say in your sig quote? I can't understand it at all
It lagged because you or the host thought you were running an OC3 backbone and threw rationality out the window.. ;) Just saying the facts. Go play with the same people with the same pings at the same time of day on XBox Live and I'd like to see you wonder why you paid $50 for it..
He is saying how much softmods are better than Hard mods because of phoenix bios loader, but Hardmods have used it before soft
1. OC3 backbone = Optical Carrier-3 = 155.52 Mbps. Max is OC-255 = 13.21 Gbps :D
2. XBox Live filters to give you the people with the best pings and connections. That's why you wait 4 minutes before trying to play on Live. On Kai you have to do the selective processing yourself. We think you can manage..
3. If I'm from Australia joining Canadian servers (OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD!) with 14 other people and it runs as smooth as a baby's bottom, then you've got something up with your connection or who you try to play with.
Please don't try to compare Xlink's service with that of Xbox Live. If we had the financial resources of a multi-billion dollar conglomerate behind us, we'd be in a much better position to offer you things like quality of service guarantees. As it stands this is a free service that we, being Team Xlink, have put together in our own spare time at no cost to anyone but ourselves.
Some times you'll connect to a game with other people that are local to you, and the lag will not be noticable. Other times you may join a game with someone on the other side of the world and experience tons of lag.
In the near future we'll be implementing our GeoLink services to make it easier to find people locally to play with. This is one thing you don't notice on Xbox Live, as the process of finding local players is transparent to you. Xbox Live does this on their backend with their millions of dollars worth of equipment and an army of programmers to write the code.
We are but a few people.
Cut us some slack here, OK?

seems this is about the only question on XS about kai .. "i get lag, why!" .. lag is caused by a number of things, most of which were explained in the posts above this one .. try cleaning your computer of spyware, close down your pr0n torrents, close msn, shell out some cash for the not "light" version of your DSL. lag has more to do with your connection and the connection of the host .. i play on kai every day, mind u i hardly ever play halo2 but i get no lag at all playing gr2 and sure rainbow63:ba sometimes lags a little but for the most part its smooth ..
if your using windows xp do this to help speed up your network ..
