I currently have about 100' of cat6 running thru my walls/attic from my xbox to my router (used for xbox live). I recall reading somewhere that you needed cat5 for gamespy tunnel (I think). Can anyone tell me if this is the case with xlink? Is cat5 required for xlink or FTPing ?

CAT-6 UTP will have no effect on how XLink works, as it is backwards compatible with CAT-5e. CAT-6 just has a better transmission performance and deals better with network "noise", although if that's a problem for you, perhaps STP is the way to go (rarely is the case).
If I were you, stick with CAT-5e if you can, otherwise use the CAT-6 you already have. These are only cables however, you still need RJ-45 plugs on the end of them so you can connect them to your router and XBox and PC or whatever....
If you're using it successfully with XBox Live (meaning the XBox is being detected on the network successfully), then there's no reason why you'll have problems on XLink. <

Too much time and expense to replace it now, so i'll just go with what i have. If i have serious problems then i'll upgrade.
thnx for the quick reply <
