but i have noticed sometimes when i play a game (chip on) it will switch purple then red (off) so im thinkin that it may have switched on while you were playing then switched off
this is usually due to voltage fluctuations in the xbox, and not due to any attempts to enable the chip
even if MS did enable the chip while the xbox is on i twouldnt get you banned, they only check the bios in memory, and simply turning the chip on whithout rebooting doesnt refresh your bios, so you will still have the retail bios loaded

It's Black Saturday, ala Black Sunday when DTV flipped the switch to make all the P3 cards useless.
I got banned yesterday too. Booted to the retail BIOS, chip was deactivated, took all the necessary "known" precautions. I'm thinking M$ changed something, maybe scanning HD model #'s. I wonder if anyone's been banned with a chip but still a stock HD?
yeah, just this morning (speaking for my roommate) he has an X3 that's it, stock hDD the only thing added is the chip, he's been waiting, for months, to get a New big HD to use with his chip, but just had the chip installed ready to go for when the time came. so what should he do now. i read somewhere, about switching HDD's with mother boards and confusing M$ but maybe i confused myself with what i was reading at the time, i couldn't find it again. what is the solution, what do we do now?
