| All I can remember is that I went to my friends house and copied FIFA 2005 on to my xbox hard drive, played the game by loading it from my hdd.. |
This also happend to me when attempting to play FIFA 2005. There were no updates for Xbox Live in the past few days. I had been playing the PAL version of Fifa 2k5 for a month or so and then purchased the NTSC version this past wednesday. I played quite a few games on Live on wednesday, and then when attempting to sign on to Live via FIFA 2k5 last night I was then banned. Could FIFA be responsible maybe...?
-Mekapo
Doubtfull. I have never played Fifa 2005 on my box and I am banned. Question is, is it just previously banned people that got canned, or is it everyone that has a mod chip that got banned? If it is the first, maybe M$ has a list of eeprom#'s associated with gt's and they just did an across the board ban. Dunno.. it'll be interesting to see what happens and what is happening.
I can log onto Xbox Live just fine as we speak, and I've been playing FIFA as well. I don't think any of the possible reasons listed so far are the cause.
Just out of curiousity... do you guys yell or swear alot while playing? No need to answer, but that is also a bannable offense on Live if you read the ToU agreement.
Or perhaps one of the live aware games connected when you didnt notice... it happens to the best of us, thats why i've been running a BIOS that blocks live while the mod chip is on, it's fool proof.

Yea I was just banned for the second time too. My chip was off and everything was fine for a week. Than after a round of tiger woods 2005 online i was banned. Chip never was on when I was connected to the internet. I am tired of buying more subscriptions. We need to get to the bottom of this or I might have to buy a whole new unmodded xbox just to play online.
thats my plan of action soon. New bundle announced w/top spin and NCAA football. Not a bad deal...
The last thing I did was play an online game of ESPN 2K5 with a friend of mine. Mod chip off. game ran smooth, no problems. I tried signing on last night, and no go. The mod chip was not on. I can gaurantee you of that on my end. I do not have any e-mail from M$ on this subject, that I violated the ToU/ToA. Just a straight up ban like last time, althought it didn't take the xbox anywhere near as long this time, to figure out xbl service was not able to be contacted.
About the only other thing I can think of is that my eeprom got sold to someone else who played what they weren't supposed to, and it nabbed us both. I didn't go near the game we cannot mention here, so I am not sure what's going on here.
Has someone tried to re-unban themselves with another eeprom and gotten back on successfully?
Got this today...

The same thing happened to me today. I just replaced my EEPROM with a new one YESTERDAY, it worked fine. I even unmodded my Xbox after I applied the new EEPROM (I use UDE), but when I tried to sign onto XBL today to play a new Rallisport Challenge 2 challenge, I got banned again. I did not receive an email, however, I will probably receive one later. Maybe this time, I will totally unmod my Xbox by deleting everything that isn't supposed to be on the HD. I received a new XBL dash yesterday after the new EEPROM; that might be the problem. Maybe the new dash scans for additional "mod" characteristics locally, and then reports it to MS.
So people who are getting banned, are getting e-mails as well saying thier subscription is cancelled? So they ban you, and cancel the subscription. So, we need a new eeprom, and a new xbl account? Hmph.. this is bizzare.

dont lash out at me im just guessing like the rest of you if you guys have any ideas feel free to share also have you ever been ban before do you have a bigger hard drive and did you play any of those ea games before you got banned |
I was banned before, like a month ago, by accidentally loading the MS dash while UDE was installed. I have nothing else in my Xbox, no bigger hard drive, TSOP, or anything. I haven't even opened my Xbox. Now I'm banned again. UDE was uninstalled, and I was disconnected while I was uninstalling it. And I was playing Rallisport Challenge 2, the first game I played on Live since my first ban, and that is in no way related to EA.
well theres another thing we could add to the list ude i also have that on my xbox so did a few of my friends but who knows guessing again
keep your strorys coming guys mabe we could find a link and get to the bottom of this
I would pick number 4 from the choices given.
has anyone tried using an unbanned eeprom to get back online to see if that still works? I am in dier need of one, if anyone knows where to get one for a v1.6 xbox, please PM me. thanks!
this isnt isolated by who you are buying your eeproms from is it? maybe someone is selling bogus ones, or the same one multiple times?
if you could post who you are buying from... its a long shot... but just another possability to mark off the list.
i got a large hard drive and xecuter and play splinter cell almost every night... no problems here.
Well u can add me to the list.
Here my story
I'v been online for about 5 months playing regularly,, have big hdd and exe 2.3b lite.. been chiping and messing with xbox for 2 years... was using the x2_4983. diable live sing in bios before 2nd BAN
Just ova A week ago i was trying out the m8 bios to see if it was any good.... i was testing it with starwars battlefront and when testing in-game-reset i think maby it tryed to connect to live (after testing bios i put the x2_4983 bios back on.... then a few days later i tryed to sign in and i was BANNED... i was sure the NC was not in when trying the m8 bios thing but i was not 100% so i put it down to that...
Anyway got eprom of a freind (so i know no1 else has\had that eprom) flashed it last friday, things was fine BUT now i just tryed to sign in (frii 15 oct 04 11.30pm-ish) and im BANNED AGIAN twice in just ova a week. and i DEFINATLY DIDNT SIGN IN WITH CHIP ON...,what i did do yesterday was try Avalaunch for the 1st time yesterday and i clicked all the update things and it connected then updated... (but from readin other posts i dont think theres a link there) thats all i did and im fu*%ing BANNED AGAIN !!!
I can get another eprom anytime but im not gonna bother risk wastin it...
Just to clear things. I have never been ban until yesterday. My box has been fixed and running legit games on live for about a year, and no I have no stock. $1.20 is nice to have.

No pre-release French software. No getting online when the chip was disabled, I have the 4981 bios to prevent that from happening.
I have a large hd (80gb) with the c/f boot so that when I boot with the chip off, the M$ Dash can't see my F drive.
I was banned a month or 2 ago while being a dumbass. Installed new eeprom and everything worked great until yesterday.
I also got the "Could not connect error" error immediately when I tried to troubleshoot my connection. This is unlike the first time I was banned when it took a good bit before it returned the "could not connect error"
I also have an xecutor 2.3b+ lite.
From what I can tell from what I have in common with all the other recent banees, the banning has something to do with checking who was previously banned.
Yet another proof positive of my "theory"
MS is going after people who have been banned once and have replaced their EEPROMs.

Tell us more about your setup. Large HD? What's your BIOS? Any special setups on your BIOS? What games on Live do you play? etc. etc.
BTW, MS could be banning for multiple reasons, so just because you haven't been banned before doesn't mean MS isn't also banning for that reason in addition to a reason that would apply to you.

Well pin a "Dumbass" medal on you....Nah J/K mate
They may be banning multiple ways, just too early to tell. But almost 12 people in this thread have been banned in the past 48 hours. All of them replaced their EEPROM at some time or another. Good Day.

Thath is a pretty good theory... If I had to choose wich one of all the possibilities mentioned over here could get you banned, besides having you're chip on, but I believe you all in that.... having the experience of getting banned makes you chek twice before going online.
Anyways.. if I had to choose one from the whole bunch.. I'd have to agree with Orangey... makes sence.
So let me get this straight... NONE and I mean absolutley NONE OF THE PEOPLE THAT GOT BANNED in this period of time we're talkinga about, had a... let's say "virgin" eeprom of their own? the one that came with your one and only xbox when you bought it?
Keep on posting... we'll see what's going on.
My eeprom was from another Xbox that I have kicking around. It was perfectly good, had never even been on live.

ya thats what im gonna do. Its not too bad a deal really. W/that new bundle we get 2 games Top Spin ($20) and NCAA 2k5 ($40), both of which are live compatible, and a new controller ($30). So in essence ur paying 60 bux for a brand new headache free xbox live experience. Seems like a decent price to me, considering all the games I havn't had to buy due to mr modchip
oh...god i just had an idea...some of us have listed our gamertags on our forum sigs, any chance M$ is taking names??????? HIDE!!!
Ok have a next xbox ready to go back online AND i want to put in my bigger hdd...BUT im afraid of it getting banned agian ...
But My freind and I think that MS are banning boxes based on new eprom but SAME MAC Address ..
...because seeing as iv been banned twice in just ove a week..how do MS know whether ir not that the 2nd time i had a new xbox but put same bigger hdd in it ??? surly they wouldn't be banning ppl for that... so we think it must be the MAC address...
And yes i am p***ed at MS for this... if i had tryed to go online with chip on then yes,, but i didnt but along with all these other ppl im banned for no-good reason.... an i bet the PPL WHO DO HAVE A PIRATE HALO2 ON THEIR BOXES ARNIT BANNED...
MS Suks
anyone givin any thought to this theory?
Is it possible for LIVE to determine that a connetion is made to allow something to boot from the LPC's? Possibly the D0 connection?
I only mention this because i am banned as well. I just reflashed my eeprom about 4 days ago and played online. I have a 1.1 xbox, SmartXXv2 with LCD and a Seagate 250gb drive. Since ive installed the LCD, when I boot the original bios from the chip, i still get the custom text on my LCd so I am thinking its possible that xbox live may "pulse" the LPC's or D0 to see if a "alternitave" bios option is available, then ban. Just a guess at this, since my custom text is still available and the light on this chip is on, TECHNICALLY the chip is on. That means ALOT of chips are still on. My old Matrix had a light that comes one EVEN when its "off" and my SmartXX v1 did the same. SInce it obviously is powered, is it under attck from micro$oft? If it is, I think it violates our rights to a extent, but M$ may hide under the "modified software on Xbox Live sh*t."
Ive also thought about the Halo 2 possibility. I admit ive done some research into it, but i dont want to ruin the suprise by playing it in French so I am a faithful Halo fan and waiting for the official release. Is it possible M$ has collected IP's for "marked" xbox uilites and banned those from the system? Its a longshot, but I wouldnt be suprised!
Another thoery, no longer thought to be a longshot....
Since most of us store our thirdparty applications on the F drive where M$ cannot find it, there is configuration files for some of these apps on the E: drive with the saved games. Even the cache drives have information from some dashboards. Ive always been curious as to when they were going to look for these. We spend alot of time and effort to keep these software somewhere else than on the C and E partition, but they still leave their mark. Even alot of dashboards themselves store info on the C partition right next to the XboxDash.xbe! Could be a number of things I guess. Maybe the smartxx team that found the HD check needs to look again at the recent code.
If thats true, I would like to PERSONALLY thank the person that released Halo 2 on the internet by saying, "THANKS FOR RUINING IT FOR ALL OF US!"

Maybe unrelated, but I can send this file to you if you wish, or forward this email to yours. Just PM me.
Banned Last night for the second time, tried a new eeprom and the xbox wouldn't accept my account retrieval details. Called xbox live support to check that my card details were correct and the guy put me on hold and never came back. Just waiting for an email now to tell me my accounts been canceled.
I cant use my save games now, anyone know why?
.
GameAngel: you can't use your game saves, because the gs's are binded to consoles EEPROM. If you get yourself unbanned, you change the EEPROM, which actually means that you change your consoles serial number and few more things. So the console is not more your past xbox. The gs's are binded to the previous EEPROM- console...

Just buy a cheap xbox from the pawn shop. If your a serious modder, you know what to look for. Feet never removed, both stickers intact, etc. I get xboxs locally for $75 to mod for other people. You can get em pretty cheap if you tell em the price is dropping to $99 in the middle of Nov for Christmas lol
Resist the modding tempation and use it for live. My Xbox in the living room will never see live again. Im tired of reflashing the eeprom and with whats goin on now it doesnt look like its gonna work anymore anyway.
Maybe XBL is purposely banning people. Via the terms of service for xbox live a modchip violates the TOS. So we had a good run! Wait for the new technology in modchips and try again!

ok, well you dont get banned instantly.. so that game isnt ruled out.
however, i play it on xbc and i still play xbox live on a daily basis.
kinda odd though... i was on splinter cell, and a friend came in saying he got booted and it said "you are already signed in on another xbox" or something similar... so i went to invite him to the game he was already in, and the whole room got booted and issued that message... had to resign into xbox live... no ban as of yet though.
odd shit going on... gonna be scared to play halo 2 when i get home at 12:02 on november 9th. scared my xbox will explode. its gotta be related.

| I've been a victim of these "new" bannings and I've never played SWB, so I think that clearly rules it out at least as being the only game/factor to have impact. |
I agree Mannequin, I just do not think that the GAMES themselves are getting us banned. I think that MS is somehow scanning for modchips or flashed TSOPs and simply busting people. As I said before I think that they are pissed about HALO 2 and this is their revenge against all of us "pirates".
I think this is an interesting topic and thought I would add my 2 cents. First off I am not sure if MS can 'see' your saved games on your e drive... this would be one way of checkin for french software. also in my opinion, if you play live and go on kai and play the french software, your asking for it.
In my personal opinion, (which may be really extreme but not impossible) M$ is freakin pissed off about the french software situation. It is possible they set up a small team of people dedicated solely to banning 'hackers' from live. This can include hacked software of any kind, re-used eproms, french software, large hard drives... basically anything of this nature... even taking gamer tags from sites like this and scrutinizing these accounts.
this may seem a little crazy, but its not impossible is it?
ps. not banned yet, but assuming its coming soon for reason im not going to say (and im removing my name from sig).

Xbox Live security The Xbox Live team has noticed and received reports from the Xbox Live community about users connecting to the Xbox Live service using modified Xbox consoles. By doing this, users are breaking the Terms of Use that must be agreed to when a gamertag is created. The Xbox Live team will not tolerate this unfair activity and have taken steps to protect our community from this cheating.
Xbox Live has recently initiated additional security measures to ensure that those connecting to Xbox Live with modified hardware will be removed from the system. im sure this is a major part in the banning outbreak... especially to try and keep the halo 2 servers clean for when it comes out.
so maybe its a good thing, as long as i dont get banned and only the people who think they can get away with going on live with a chip enabled do... but im sure there will be many casualties that dont deserve to lose their accounts.
it really pisses me off though that people have to cheat...im pretty much furious over this whole thing.
Nevermind
Are the people on this thread using Modchips or Softmods?
Which one of the two are more likely to be booked by M$??
Any of the recently banned individuals happen to use a xenium ice? should i be worried?
A.Z.BEST®...
i know you are doing your best to get this thing under wraps..
and i for one appreiciate it..
its just so hard to get information straight with some ppl.
i for one, use xbmc, i have save games for unleashX on my hard drive, use live on a regular basis, havent used xbox connect in a long while, play battlefront backup (never put update or dashupdate.xbe on my hard drive or game backup disc)
played all the new games...
and my account seems ok. not a problem.
i however HAVE NOT attempted to or thought about downloading H2... maybe these people have and thats how this is happening and they are just afraid to say so.
im suprised none of the mods have any insight on this.
check it out.
One more thing... I tried to log in xbox Live yesterday to check who was online and they have you registering your box serial number, name, and bunch of crap... you think that has something to do also?
well just to add. i have a modded xbox with an X2 chip in it. I play on both live and on Xlink Kai. I also have SW:BF, which i have played on both Kai and XBL, however i just mainly played on XBL. Now when i played on Kai, my mod chip is off, as well on XBL(of course). I hate cheaters in games and im not one of those - so if MS is just removing hacks fine...but otherwise its crap.
Now i also have ESPN NFL 2k5, and NHL2k5, both of which i have played on XBL, no problems - MOD OFF. I also have one of the other so called problem games Madden 2005, which i have played with mod on.
Anytime i run a backup i have the MOD on (obvious) but whenever i run a retail i have the MOD off( not matter what im playing XBL or XLink)
I've havent been banned at all - and shouldnt be because i havent violated any rules.
I think its a bit more involved than games causing problems. Also i tried the password trick as of late, and then powered up the SW:BF game and it never tried to sign me in before the game started. I always have to do that myself.
On a side note, i have noticed 1 time when i updated a game on XBL, it changed my autosign in to enabled. have no idea why that happend. but i caught the change and switched it back. So anytime you get an XBL update ALWAYS check to make sure your sign in is still disabled.

And whoever the parties involved in going on XBL with mods are, they aren't gonna come out and say so. So we just sit and wait for some one to make the discovery on what MS is looking for now.
got a 2nd xbox banned off live. first was a xecuter 2.6 pro
2nd was a aladain live chip. i dont know whats going on. they both worked for a day of using them and 2nd day banned i been carefull to keep the chip turned off when i been using live.
dont know if it was cause was on the ms dashboard setting up slayers when the chip was on or cause starwars tryed to go on live even tho in options i set it to not try to. really narked off.
guess might need a 2nd xbox one for my 120gb and testing games and one for live
i know i can get some epprom but i dont know if its even worth it :@
what u all think
My first idea is that you should be looking around and not just 'threading' up here.
Wait with the next unbanning a bit more.
There are many ways to softmod your Xbox. I am personally using UDE. Depending on your kernel version, you could use UDE/UDE2 also. However, if you access Live with UDE installed, you will get banned. If you want to completely uninstall a softmod, such as removing everything softmod-related from your harddrive, you can use the 007EvoX save to FTP into your Xbox and delete the necessary things, or restore a pre-softmod backup (which I highly recommend). To learn more about the different softmods available, visit this thread:

flashed new eeprom, got on, 2h later banned again. mod was 100% off (smartxx in the machine at the time, btw).
flashed another, replaced HD with a returned-to-stock state HD, however copied all savegames and C partition 1:1 off the IBM HD, removed all non-stock files (dashboards, app saves, eeprom backups etc), removed mod from system.. 3 days and still not banned.
I'm guessing:
either:
- MS checks for certain files/filenames on the HD
- checks for non-stock HDs
- detects LPC chips even while disabled (which is possible if the mod doesn't completely detach itself from the lpc port when disabled)
they do not
- "mark" gamer tags
- store information about being previously banned on HD (would've copied that over in my case otherwise)
truly safe ways of playing live should be:
- unplug mod (use pinheader install to be able to do that)
- swap HD for stock
annoying of course, but at least safe it seems.
Thats exactly what I had stated in another thread Arakon...I believe that you are on to something. I simply believe that MS has a way of detecting that you have a chip installed and people will continue to get banned until they remove them.
.
@A.Z.BEST®
of course the 1.6 bios runs off the lpc port, but it would be very easy for MS to distinguish wether it's a modchip or their own xyclops chip.
and a tsop flashed box can either
a) not go on live anyways (256 kb tsops)
or
b) they can easily check if the entire tsop contains a valid bios or not.
also, have tsop boxes been banned multiple times yet?
@Sacrilego
I swapped the HD along with the eeprom, but I also restored stock state on the HD.
I have a question... Has anyone without a live account on a modded box, went to create one only to realize they are banned already? Or does this happen when logging in to live?
My question really is, if you don't have a live account on the system to log in with, can you be banned?
I asume that if u tryed to connect to live with chip on the xbox would be banned, whether u have an account or not
I think the guy 2 post up meant to ask has anyone with a old xbox that never came with live, modded it, then upgraded it to live from retail disc and started a account, found themselvs banned immediately?
just thought id add ive never been banned always play live with the chip off, and all those files that are with your game saves worried me to some point been ive been good for over 2 years now with chameleon 1.3 120g drive evox 3921 evox dash
even after playing SWBF ive never had to change auto sign in back to off, no game for me thus far has enabled it
i would have to say its the eeprom issues as stated the whole time or something in your info that you give MS when signing up for live like your name and credit card info for the people multiple bans , maybe they flag your name as well since it has to match CC info
who knows

Who have actually got banned:
- people who have bought premodded Xboxes (EEPROMs might been sold for someone else)
- ppl who have been banned at least few months ago, and then got rebanned
- ppl who have bought EEPROMs from those damn resellers
I'm just laughing of those guys who sell EEPROMs few times, heh. If you wanna steal, do it with style. Steal millions not 4-5$ for an EEPROM, lol.
i just got banned from Live today, i log on to play and boom, i'm banned...i was able to play 6 hours before that successfully and i thought it seemed fine (i put a new EEprom in the night before because i was banned before) and i played all last night, all i play is Capcom vs. SNK 2 EO and Guilty Gear XX #Reload, this is the 5th time i've been banned (just got banned 2 times in 2 days), i got banned for signing in with the chip off (i have an apple x-3) the console was set on chip off and i get banned, (Regular Green boot-up screen = Chip off, Orange boot-up screen = Chip on), what the hell is going on here? should i erase everything from my HD to prevent something? i don't even have a bigger HD but all i had in my HD was a lot of saves, Street Fighter : Anniversary Collection and tons of Dead or alive 3 Costumes
ps.: is there a way to decrypt v1.6 EEproms? LiveInfo Beta 2 can only decrypt V1.0-V1.1
KPunk, how do you know MS is doing what their doing?
Never been banned before...I dont even have a live account yet, getting one this week, prolly gonna find my old one and renew or just get a new one. I have a new version of xbox 1.6 with a xecuter 2.6 chip, mod disable and everything, i use the slayers evox i think 2.5. my xbox is a virgin to xbox live, now since i dont have a live account, if i play a backed up game it wont try and connect will it? i'll make sure to remove my xbox to the net when i enable my chip and only ftp using a cross over cable. i have not nor will i attempt to DL the game we cant say here, why would i, its only 2 weeks away.
you guys think if i take the right precautions i wont get banned? my chip is sooooo gonna be off when i get a live account and my box was factory sealed when i bought it
and only one time i did connect to the m$ dash while my chip was on, but that was only before i flashed my chip
I have a quick qeustion. For all you peoples that HAVE been ban, have you guys played Halo 2 on your Xbox? If so, then I have 2 solutions of why they are doing this. 1) Scan for Halo 2 profiles (not likely) or 2) They scan your catche files. I do have XBL, and I havnt logged into it for about a month because ive been hacking Fable. Then I downloaded Halo 2, and now after reading all these posts about changing your EEPROM and shit, I am thinking they ARE doing some scans. Not certain what kind of scans, but your catche files may be one. One day I was searching my catche files and I was hex editing them and it had EVERY game ive played on my Xbox. So im about to log into XBL after copying a whole freaking back up of my Xbox. Hopefully I wont be getting ban like everyone else! Ill post in a couple of minutes of my results...
Oooooook, had a little problem with my UDATA files....they were all corrupted. I am copying over again and seeing if that will fix anything. Ok, I deleted all my Xbox apps saves, like the DVDTongleFree thingy. Now im about to log in...and im in. 2 friends online, and like a million off...thats unusal. Ill be posting in a day or so to see if I get banned at all! So far I got into XBL.
Still not banned....now I have an audio exploit. I finally figured out how to install the freaking bitch!
. Is it also possible that Bungie & M$ could have leaked a Halo2 version onto the net for the sole purpose of tracking modders because they would be the only ones that could get their hands on a copy.

Yeah and give it away to the many modders who do not have an xbox live account?NOT BLOODY LIKELY
Ok I want your opinions. Tonight I was planning on gettin my copy of halo 2 and xbox live kit and playin live all night tonight and skipping school tommorow and playing. I was under the impression I could turn my chip off and play games normal. When I turn my chip off it boots to the ms dash like stock but when I go to the xbox live button and new account it gives me a error 21 now this has me scared. I have a ex 2.3 lite plus and a 120gb hd with tons of apps and games of mine that I have backed up. What do you guys think I should do? Edit- Also another thing that bothers me is when I switch banks on my chip and try to get the cromwell flash thingy to come up it wont is that normal?
any opinions?
yep new eeprom 3 weeks ago. banned. new eeprom again (NOVEMBER 9 12:00AM) ready up halo 2 BANNED (NOVEMBER 9)12:00 PM.
120 GB w/ booted RETAIL bios.
they know something. mac address? could a solution be get a stock xbox? do i need a new gamertag? what's the deal here?

Word is on the street that if you have been banned before you have to get a new eeprom and lock it with a NEW HD (Stock has been proven to work). Once you have been banned M$ has definately put extra checks if u use the same GT. If you really want to keep your GT then try to get a stock HD. If your can live without it, create a new one and then you could use the larger HD. Virgin EEPROM + Virgin GT + Large HD = Success on XBLive. I have proof of that, but I am not using any exploits or softmods.
EDIT: I wanted to give you some more info on my situation. I do have Dloaded games (F:) and gamesaves I also have evox dash on c: |
There is truth to that.
I got banned recently and have been laying low. But I couldn't wait any longer and flashed a new eeprom yesterday and playec Street Fighter AC for about 3 hours. Then today I was banned. I do believe they flag your GT and run more extensive tests on it once you sign in with it again. I have a large HD btw.
Soooooooooooo If I flash epprom again but use a NEW GT I should be straight?
NEW eeprom, NEW gamertag, and NEW hdd is only solution.
