Title: Sword Glitch Cheating?

I have been aware of the sword glitch for a while but am reluctant to use it because I do not know if people consider it cheating.  So I have come to my most trusted forum to see the feedback from my fellow posters.  So what do you think... is it cheating? (I'm talking for XBL)

depends what swowrd glitch. the one in the warthog when you target them and then you go flying at them?

I'm talking about the one you can do with any weapon as long as you have the reticule red.  Most people use the rocket launcher and are able to "fly" to where an enemy is.

Get caught for what??? I was asking people's opinion on if they thought it was cheating before I started doing it.  I do not want to be labeled a cheater by doing something that my friends and I do not care about.  I was just wondering if others did so I would know not to do it.  I'm not trying to say it is alright or that it isn't.  I was just wondering what others thought.  But your post was helpful... thank you.  I just wanted to know if people thought it was cheating or not because there are things your friends do not care about but others do.

if u have 2 ask if its cheating it probably is. when u play against ppl n u do that they will report u for cheating.

also, when u leave the cheating feedback, wut does bungie or M$ do?

Very little. But if negative feedback acrues then they will definently start banning.

Banning would be extreme, but if it was "true" cheating like the standby cheat then I could give a shit less if they were banned forever.

I personally don't think it's cheating.  It's not honorable, but it's not cheating.  Since it's a built-in part of the game, we all have access to any of these glitches.  If only certain boxes or game copies could do it, then it would be cheating.  IMHO :)

Cosmo I agree. Standby is definitely cheating because it involves outside hardware to gain an advantage but the swrod glitch only requires 2 weapons and pressing of the right buttons. Anybody can do it.

Actually, I think standby and glasswalling are the only kinds of chetaing out there. Glasswalling is probably never used on live but I've been standby'ed a few times. I usually report people using standby after the game because it's better than nothing but in reality, to get banned, you need 250 cheat reports from sources that are not on the same buddy list, clan or recent players list.

Then theres other things such as passing bombs and flags through walls and floors. That can get aggrevating but I still dont consider it cheating since all players can do it. If you think you have been cheated, you've been cheated by bungie for making such a glitch filled game.

Thanks for the feedback.  Most of you share my opinion and that is why I figured I would get a clue as to what others think.  Some things are accepted with friends that aren't with others.

Altohugh i wouldn't want someon doing it to me in a game since it is unfair to be able to fly to someone fomr far away and kill them instantly, I don't consider it to a cheat since i can do it too. it does take out the fun if someone was doing it during a actual game. It's a cool glitch though and i use it in custom games to reach hard to reach places.

Yeah.  I love finding places that you can get to that you are not supposed to.  It is pretty cool.

sumtimes i use it when ppl go 2 places with banshees or like on zanzibar if sum1 goes on top of the roof with a full sniper the whole game. but i cant do it in a normal game everytime so i just dont try.
