You'll have to use the alternate points.  I don't know them off hand.

The damaged points seem to be the wrong ones for rgh wiring.  They should have been closer to the bottom of the set.

Those points are blasted dude.  I'd say the wrong type of flux was used.  The iron was too cold.  And the iron was held in place too long to accommodate for not being able to get hot enough.

Just guessing - 25watt irons are a bad choice.  They are too cheap for good work.

Ya thats exactly what he said, he has no idea what he did, because they are totally the wrong points to begin with.

In all honesty I should have been the one that did it for him, but I was lazy that day and he went ahead and did it himself. I have the proper tools, I just need a little help with the fix me thinks.

Thanks for the reply guys.

Like so? let me know if you need a better shot.

And I just asked him to confirm, he said its a 0022 error not 0202 as previously stated. Sorry about the confusion.

Negative, he never got that far, once he got all the required hardware soldered onto the board, he turned the thing on and it didnt boot, so he removed it all, still nothing, so he cleaned up all the solder points then it acted like it was overheating, the fans would spin up at full speed and then shut off, and no video.

since your doing the work for him.. why dont you put the components back on and try to start it up. then report back. make sure the heat sink is on tight. since your friend has no clue what hes doing.. im gonna assume it needs to be fully tested again..

if you still get the 0022 go ahead and check the board for bridged joints.. or solder splashes.. especially in the areas he had the soldering iron..

report back.. if you still are at a loss.. professional help might be needed..

I personally didnt see any such marks or bridges. Maybe a better trained eye will spot something I didn't

Im not seeing anything. Have you tried booting it with heatsink and fan in place??

So I booted it up with the fan and such in place and it is as he said it takes about 25 seconds before it turns red and its error 0022.

Also if thats about all I can try, I'm thinking I'll solder everything back on, that'll give me more of an idea of the places he might have messed up and therefore further troubleshoot, can you or anyone recommend a good corona v2 rgh solder guide?

Why was my topic moved? why does messing up a hardware mod not belong in the hardware modding forum?

Because hardware modding and hardware bothchery are two completely different things. There is no dedicated section for 'messing up a hardware mod'. Most 360 repairs, fixes and the people that do them are in this section, so it was moved for your benefit.

Thanks for the clarification.
