Title: Xbox Slim *no Power *m/b Problem
Post by: wilgo45 on February 19, 2013, 09:09:00 AM
This can either be a failed Mosfet.

A shorted Power Reg

A blown 0.0 ohm resistor

A bad ROL board component - this is what the touch sensitive strip ties into.

A failed touch sensitive strip

Or - a power brick that has lost one of the 12 volt feeds.  Power brick will still light the LED with the standby 5 volts still active.  So that could be throwing you off.  Try your Slim brick on a friend's Slim.  That will give you a starting answer.

Can you provide any more details - given the situation ?

I have taken the board out now. I'm not 100% sureo n how to test the mosfets but i have my eye on two which i think are the common ones for blowing but i'm still not sure how to test them.

I have a multi-meter an all and i know the name of all the connectors the two mosfets.

as for the resistors i'm not sure how to test them either lol

Will be tomorrow before i can test another touch board on the xbox and wired controller.

The two powerbrick works fine so do the outlets.

Mosfets have to come off the board for proper testing

Hot air desoldering works best to lift them
