Help me please...
the thing is that i noticed after changing the x clamp screws i replaced them with shorter ones...
i get a big SPARK by the GPU screw next to the CPU screw on the bottom on the right corner... by the front... if i loosen it it doesn't boot...
if i tighten it it sparks and rrods... if i tighten it just right it sparks and boots... sometimes it never boots...
I checked EVERYTHING but CANNOT find what the hell is causing it!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grr.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grr.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grr.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grr.gif)
PLEASE someone give me an idea...

your cpu may be cracking, no luck there...
-
what kind of washers are you using? Nylon, fiber or metal?
-
Put a strip of electrician tape across the one side that is sparking. If it boots problem solved. It's because the heatsink is sitting too tight and making contact with parts it shouldn't.
-
your choice of washers may have something to do with it
-
oops i meant i got METAL washers...
{SCREW} washer -Mobo- washer -Heatsink-
-
Washers might be too wide. Are they touching anything beyond the copper ring where the screw holes are?
-
actually i got it working.. but if i tighten it while its on just that screw sparks once... it is a bit scratched.. the copper...
the washers are perfect size thou...
its EXTREMELY odd
it works for now... might freeze again thou...
im going to attempt the new Vegas mod flying around..

Either the washers are the wrong size or the mobo is badly warped. If it works it works though.

You need two washers inbetween the board and heatsink Youll probably find the sparking was the heatsink shorting out on the capacators also you don't really need a washer under the screw.
So, Screw>Board>Washer Washer>Heatsink and face the sharp edges away from the motherboard.

i tried the two washers thing before... but it wouldnt touch the gpu enough.. and it would 2 rrod on me..
-
it has to be 2 washers between the board and the heatsink otherwise it will warp the board and possibly crack the chip
i would look into getting some more washers the ones u have sound like they are too thick
i have done well over 200 boxes now and never had one spark and always use 2 underneath and 2 on top
you need m5 form a washers - form b are too thick and dont let the heatsink touch the die
