Am I right in thinking I need to get the gpu overheated so it so reflow the connections?
If so how can I get this thing to stop shutting off right away so it can indeed overheat.

I don't get any video. The fans move for like 1 second then shut off and it just keeps blinking the 3 RROD (1,3,4).

OK the solution is easy. When you applied the x-clamp fixx, you did something wrong. Either you didn't use 2 M5 washers between then heatsinks and the mainboard either you tighten too much the bolts so the heatsinks make short somewhere. Loosen up the bolts and try again.
You were absolutely right! Thank you very much. It turns out I didn't have nylon washers above the motherboard I only had them under the motherboard.
