Title: April Update Hard Drive Question
Post by: cactusj00 on May 20, 2010, 09:54:00 PM
Hey everyone
I think I am posting this in the correct forum but if not I apologize.

My friend recently gave me his banned xbox and I bought a Hard drive for it.  I never realized that the ban got rid of the ability to instal games on the hard drive.  Now I hear that the April update from microsoft can restore the ability to install games.

This link gave directions but I am a bit unsure.

Does anyone know how this works?  If I follow the directions on the bottom of the article will my HD install games?

The article says that even though the HD is restored profile data is still corrupted.  I am not even sure what this means.  If your profile data is corrupted does that mean you can't save a game?

I bought the HD for the xbox after it was banned and I was able to create a profile and save game data.

If I use this update will my profile be corrupted and will I lose the ability to save?  Has anyone had success with the method described in this article?

I just bought a used copy of Left 4 Dead and I only want to install it and be able to save data.  I have no interest in piracy but I would really like to be able to use the game and HD that I have purchased (I hope the install will cut down the amount of noise this system produces).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
