Title: Xenon Dead? Still Boots Xell Though
Post by: Nunta on January 14, 2010, 05:29:00 AM
Okay here's the sitrep, I have a xenon v1 and can not get it to boot up anymore. I did the diode JTAG hack and got 8955_1 on it with no problems. When 8955_3 came out i flashed that and it worked without rawconfig.bin injected, but after a couple of boots stopped working. Tried again and worked for one boot then nothing again. Messed around a bit, different cables/resistors setup and still no go with _3. I could get 8955_1 back on there and going a few more times but then that stopped working also. I redid all the soldering and used pins for the seven LPT points so i could easily solder different cables on. Also redid the JTAG ones just to be sure. Now every time I flash I can never get it to boot, even with original firmware. Ive tried 3 different pc's, AMD, pentium 4 lappy and old pentium 2. The strange thing is 4/5 times i can get xell to boot and then run linux. I do have 1 bad block at 0x93. Ive tried to install _3 with Lflash aswell as the new XBR-flash using gentoo linux but same result. Ive checked for any rogue solder blobs and nothing is found anywhere on either side of main board. I dont have pins sticking out underneath so no shorts there. Ive tried bad block remapper, also tried to flash kv and config after main flash but no go. Numerous setups, none work. It must be my nand especially seeing it does the same thing when flashing without LPT in linux. Ive tried to short the nand and it made my PSU go red, yet still didnt help.
Basically what i want to know is if maybe i have fried a component that boots the main dashboard, therefore XELL still works when booting with media button (8955_1) or eject (8955_3)?
I wish i had waited and done the linux update before anything else, such a bummer i cant even get orig firmware or 8955_1 back on. What good is a 360 that can only boot XELL??
Also a homebrew box wouldnt be able to boot XELL if it had bad JTAG wiring yes??

Looks like its time to bin it. I have a friend with another xenon box with RROD that hopefully has an exploitable CB, might give that a shot.
