After taking care of an RRoD for someone, they decided they were going to employ their extensive electronics knowledge, and activate/use the AUX power/fan header to avoid any future issues.
In short, I now have this console back in my hands with a completely shorted 12v/Gr (0 ohm), and 5v/Gr shorted at a couple points. The cause? R7V7 and R7V6 were bridged at the same time. Power supply immediately shows red when attempting to power up, as expected.
Now I can troubleshoot this, but would love to hopefully have it narrowed down to save a ton of time (removing these mosfets for testing is a pain). Anyone have an idea which components were likely the first to go? Any nudge in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
