I have bought 4 360's off ebay so far and have not had any luck with any of them.
1. invalid drive key, found out after fixing rrod.
2. e74. fixed it, friend knocked it over, tried to fix again, no dice.
3. fan power source doesn't work + rrod. no repair attempted.
4. repaired rrod, worked for a few days, got rrod again. reflowed. now graphical artifacts.
I have been using llamas tutorial but i read that it apparently does not get hot enough? I have heard that a heatgun could possibly do the trick. If i get a heat gun will i be able to fix 2, 3, and 4? I have also heard of possibly wiring the fans to disk drive power, so is that perhaps repairable as well? Please help me out, I have sunk so much money into this already.

Oh man are you barking up the wrong tree. 1st do not buy other people's crap. 2nd only buy sealed units >try iCraveit for your supplier>they sell sealed units I know I got some been able to get every unit fixed.
All the boards you got save for parts for now and to play with on how to reflow solder. Do not use a heatgun get a hot air reflow system. You will be able to control temps allot better. Get a K type thermocouple to watch temps on board. About the units you got> 1st one Parts only and board test bed meaning if it is running you keep it runing and use it for good known volts checking. 2nd one parts.3rd one check for a ground some where that is ground out power system or start checking mosfets ,caps, and any thing missing. That board is in a power down state. It will not power back up until you find fault of PD(power down) 4th unit try reflowing again. I sure hope you are using a under heater source in all of the reflows if not you better start. I got over 20 boards that are junk use them for parts. What country are you in?

wow thanks for all the advice. I really don't think i can afford a reflow station, its not a huge business its just me buying, fixing, then selling. I don't know what an under heater for the reflow is, as i said I've been using llamas tutorial so i reflowed through that method (which I've now read is wrong). I apologize for my ignorance but despite usually being very technologically knowledgeable I didn't understand most everything you said about the 3rd board. I live in the United States, thanks again for all the help, I look forward to your response.
P.S. I see no broken 360s on Icraveit, perhaps i just dont understand how the site works.

To apply heat under the board, I went to walmart purchased an electric skillet. Drilled eight holes in it, lined up with the heat sink holes. Put some screws through tightneed them down with some nuts. Put some lock nuts on the top of the screws so I can suspend the pcb 2.5" above the skillet without having touch it, or it touching the skillet. (LEVEL!!) And hit the top with a reflow station. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) (skillet on 350) the entire time.
But yes , very RARELY purchase a console from ebay for the intent of repair! You should always expect it to be previously tampered with, on eBay despite what the warranty seal says. (They are extremely easy to get past, and no I'm not going to tell you how.)

iCraveit is on eBay check them out. And I would not trust any single owner seller on line for nothing I have been burned so many time it sucks. use only ebay stores and only get sealed units. I know about iCraveit I have bought over 10 units from them a bit pricey but worth it all red one lighters E74 error sent some to ms fixed some with reflow. The last unit I reflowed started right up been runing for a month now no troubles. And all HDMI's mean Made in 2007 or 2008. Falcon's with 175 watt power 2nd Gen Heat sinks. Also if you go buy skillet don't drill holes thru it simply place small alum heat sinks on under side and use the stock xclamp screws to keep board off of alum surface this will lift it just the right amount off of skillet. I put it on at 200 then 250 then 300 then 400 for any reflow work get thermocoupler like I said and place between alum and board when gets to 250 start with heatgun pull themocuple out and place on top to watch temp coming out of gun. It only takes about 350 to start seeing boiling of flux out of chips when you get to that point be care full as to not stay on it to long or you will burn it up.

That is true.
Do not , Do not try to start your Buiz with opened RROD console.
You have alot of risk on that. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

I have done some research and it seems that the only surefire way to fix any 360 is to do a professional reflow. If i were to invest in a hot air reflower and a skillet would that be able to fix nearly anything? do i even have to do the xclamp fix?

I think before you even think about setting up a 360 repair business, you ought to at least start repairing them, and learn the ins and outs of how to go about it.
Don't take this the wrong way, but it sounds like you don't have much if any experience, or idea with repairing 360's, Yet you want to jump straight in with a 360 repair business.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

what do you mean? as i said, it's not a full blown business i just got a few 360s that i was going to repair then sell. I tried the xclamp repair and perhaps the problem is that ive gotten tampered with 360s. The one without any attempt to fix worked perfectly but had a nonoriginal drive. I've been tinkering with these 360s and im learning a lot. Im wondering if a reflowing system is too much money for such a small operation.

The Llama's method works usually if the xbox was untouched before, and not for all the errors you get. Otherwise is too risky! Indeed a reflow station would be the best way to go if you want to run a business like this. I did... so, if it worth the money for the income you will make from your business, it is up to you to decide it. That's why it is called business. You make the decisions, you take the risks and you take the profits (or pay the losses).

so i suppose the best course of action would be to keep what i have now for parts? Buy some untouched 360s from icraveit, fix with llama's and then decide on the reflowing system once i have some excess money? Sounds good to me, however i may sell off 1 or 2 of the 360's i have.
Thank you so much everyone, I plan to become involved in this community so I'm very glad that you're all very helpful and knowledgeable.
