Hi all, it's been a couple years since I've posted but here goes:
I bought two broken 360s off of craigslist to fix up for 75$(both of them). So far, one of them works so I didn't need to do anything. The only thing wrong with that is sometimes it didn't open (common samsung problem) so I need to find small rubber bands or something... The other one seems to have problems reading disks.
It's a Hitachi drive version 59DJ. The guy HAS opened the 360s before (rather noobishly I might add, cracks on parts of the 360 case) and I assume he's tried opening the drives as well. The drive spins the disk, but the laser moves back and forth like it can't read the disk. I've had this happen before on my old 360 and it just needed some better media. I'm thinking this is a possibility.
I tested a Memorex dual layer disk with a movie on it and it wouldn't read. Could there be a problem with the laser?
Suggestions? I can make a youtube video of what it does if more description is needed.
Also, I tried the search feature...it's kind of terrible.

You can try adjusting the POT on the laser, or simply replacing it.

Any good guides for adjusting the POT on the laser?
