Well I figure the problem is in the BGA joints using low quality solder, as well as board flexing, now it i were to replace that solder with a lead based solder and put the motherboard in a new case with bigger heatsinks/fans or do an X-Clamp replacement, all the problems should be solved... right?

There ya go mate wink.gif

A lot of us have been itching to see this done, homebrew style.  Where did you find your reballing jig? How much? wait wait, I would rather see some results posted with the answers to my questions.

Sounds like random knows how to do it, the only thing I might suggest is posting you procedure and letting some of the members around here that are in the industry take a look at your method.  You probably know more than I do, but a lot of good ideas have come out of discussions on topics like these.

One suggestion for anyone trying this, get a good microscope for inspection of your balls (haha I said balls) biggrin.gif Also do some research on BGA failures, you will be surprised at what can cause them, like flux.

edit: IR rework station may be the better choice here, but don't be discouraged by hot air, it can work too.
