Hey guys,

I have an old "phat" xbox 360 with a Hitachi GDR3120L drive.  It is a v59 drive with iXtreme:1.51:v59S-12x firmware.

The xbox dashboard version is 2.0.13599.0 ( I know, ancient ).  I've been out of the modding scene since May 2009.  I'm refreshing my memory on what everything.

However, my latest backup disc says need to update dash to play game.

2 Questions:

1. With my current setup, can I just upgrade dash via USB stick ( or CD/DVD ) method and be ok loading new backups?  ( Side note: Xbox was banned in 2009, so don't really care about live access)

2. Do I "have" to flash latest firmware for my drive to play current games?

Thanks in advance.

1 and 2, yes to both. and 13599 isnt ancient, i just jtagged a 2.0.7371 i had sitting for 5 years on a shelf.

it was a xenon...THATS ancient.

After reading my post, I may have asked same question in both. lol

Let me re-pharse a bit:

Can I just upgrade dash (without flashing newer firmware for drive) and still be able to play current backups of recent games?

If not, which should I do first.  Upgrade dash or flash drive with new fw?
