Title: E66- Replacing Ts-h943 Drive. Stock Or Modded Fw, Transferring Key Que
Post by: Gazc0igne on December 06, 2012, 06:32:00 AM
1. no drive PCB is married to the motherboard with a specific DVD key. wrong board will also give E66.

2. yes a little google search would have answered all of this. download jungleflasher, and also the tutorial.

jungleflasher will dump the drive and allow you to build a stock firmware to flash to the drive to finish the console update. once console is updated, reflash the drive with LT firmware to play backups again.

always best to use same type drive ie samsung for samsung, specific model isnt important as all sammies were updated to the same FW a while back so ms25=ms28=all the same

In response to question 1. I understand the mobo and drive key link, I guess the core of that question should have been worded. "Is it possible that I actually have stock firmware on my DVD drive and the failing tray open function and butter knife abuse my friend has put this drive through is causing the E66" ie is is possible for a hardware problem to end up with e66.

I did end up searching a while on google and turned up some differing opinions regarding fixing the e66 by flashing. It was all a bit confusing for someone just getting into all this.

Providing we confirm the suspicion that I need to flash the drive I have come up with a few hardware options as I see them. (Listed in order of cost from least to greatest)

1. Get a sata card for my desktop, power my drive from my xbox. $15
2. Get a stata card for my desktop, power my drive from something similar to a CK3 $30
3. Get a X360USB and a CK3(i?) and Molex power supply $75
4. Get a X360USB v2 and Molex power supply $85

I would really like to do the easiest method for the least amount of $ can anyone make reccomendations about the round they reccomend?

I have 2 360's one with the TS drive and the other with a Phillips or a BenQ drive ( no wire is seen from the access hole)

Thanks again for the help.
