you have to replace it with a liteon.  pics of the burned up pcb?  its probably repairable.  you could even just get the pcb instead of the whole drive.

Ok thanks, I'll get on it. I've got two different lite-ons that were upside-down powered - from the same guy  huh.gif I managed to get them both to read on jungleflasher, the one had a burn on R707 so i desoldered, and bridged. but they both are giving the same "open tray" error, is it me or is it normal?

I can only take quality photo's at home, only have a 2.5MP camera here  laugh.gif

not sure on the r707.  i have a pile of liteon pcb's and i just use one of them when people send me cooked/botched drives.  last r707 i did i actually just replaced the resistor.

Why don't you just get a new xbox 360? if you say a new drive is $78. unless pricing for consoles is way messed up in South Africa for some odd reason? Maybe people don't play video games over there, and there's not enough supply.

Not sure what happened there, that soldering was like that when I got it..

@deilzfcjk We have a huge gaming market, but we don't have much third party part sellers, so those who do sell, can raise the prices.. Kinda sucks, but you get used to it.  laugh.gif
