Hello.  I have been searching for a while now on what these values mean.  What are PI/PIF values, and what are they used for?  Thank you.

Completely different thinks "CIV checks" means "content integrity checks". Basically a message popped up when playing Forza 4 if you used the old method to burn the backup (as in you didn't write the last 3% or so of the image).

PIE\PIF values are errors on a burnt DVD+\-R\CD-R that can be measured by some software to determine how long your backup will last if stored well. Basically how "good" the burn was, a high PIE\PIF count doesn't mean that your backup won't work but it's a good benchmark to show if your backup will likely start giving read errors sooner rather than later. There's no fixed number for either that means your backup is good\bad. But there is a guide on Team Xecuter's website that shows a rough guide on the number to aim for.

Generally speaking when using LT-Max firmware on your Liteon writer, you will only be able to make good burns with Verbatim media. Some people have managed to get acceptable PIE\PIF failiures on cheap media but it's quite rare and more than likely the next pack of that media this person buys will look like shit in terms of PIE\PIF failiures.
