I don't understand why this keeps coming up, the ck3i powers the drive and x360usb pro flashes the drive by sending data through the SATA connection
Read the damn specs and you can tell the difference, if you cannot figure it out by reading the description listed on every site that sells it then you probably should not be flashing your xbox

Thanks for the advice but in the specs for both it just says connects to all dvd drives, it doesn't say clearly that one is just for powering the drive and one is for sata connection; I didn't think of that.
Maybe if simple questions make you so angry you shouldn't be browsing this forum, because I'm not sure if you know this but it's mainly designed to help people. So thanks, but next time lose the unnecessary attitude.

from ck3i specs
Manual Controlled Power ON/OFF/CYCLE
from X360 Pro specs
Connect any SATA device to any PC or laptop via USB
I stand by what I said if you read the specs/features you should be able to figure out the difference
-
In simplest terms
CK3i is to power the drive, X360usb is to connect the drive to your pc by USB
-
What's the "i" bit for in CK3i...?
If you have a X360USB Pro, won't any old CKx do?

Yes, ck3i just has a few hardware changes such as rs232 removed. If you already have a ck3 then you do not need this device.

not sure why they decided to call it i, it is the newest revision, and you can use a power unit you want I myself use the maximus power dongle

Cheers both of you for clearing that up, got a CK3 so no probs.

Yeah I know how to read, but I just assumed that the ck3i had a sata port as well, and I was under the impression that x360usb pro powers the dvd drive. So does this mean I need both, or can I just use the latter and power with my 360 motherboard?
-
Yes, you can just use the Pro and use your mobo to power the drive. However, there is speculation that powering an xbox without a DVD drive attached could flag you for a ban (no one knows for sure).
-
powering the xbox console without sata attached has been proven to add data to the secdata.bin
cofirmed by Tiros.

Couldn't agree more!!!! It's almost as if you guys traul the forums looking for questions where you can belittle other users. If you don't like the question take a night off. Remember anything is easy once you know how!!!
