I have a 360 S with a 9504 drive in it, which then became an 0272 after updating the dashboard. I know the drive is locked now, but is that just for writing? Or does it affect reading too? If I was to buy an xk3y or Wasabi360, would I be able to dump the necessary file(s) from the drive using a Maximus Lizard without using one of the unlocking methods (drilling etc.)?
Thanks!
Yes no problem its just the writing that may or not be difficult, but if you are buying wasabi/360 key you only need the firmware dump and you can leave the drive as stock.

Yes you definitely want to dump the firmware before attempting any additional work on these drives because if you mess up the drilling or anything, you want to be able to replace the PCB if need be.
I'd be dumping the firmware to use with a Wasabi or xk3y so I assume no drilling would be required as I'm not actually flashing the drive?

That is correct.
