All AP2.5 titles will need to be re-patched as the DAE tables have been updated.

This means all games would need reburned or just halo reach, cod bo, etc.? I am not sure what is being considered AP2.5 anymore since after the latest dash update a lot of games would not play with LT+ 1.1.

#c4e topic

#C4e is from my understanding is only for discussion not for downloading anything.
Anyhow I found it via other means.
I'm uncertain of the pre and post versions.  Is that referring to before or after a specific dashboard (13141) or something else?  There were no instructions, only a brief nfo file for each  The pre version of LiteOn has multiple bin files and relates to the older LT 1.1, while the post version only has one bin.

Also what does the 1a000, 1b000, 1c000, 1e000 bins mean for the pre versions of the LiteOn?

Are there any instructions/guides or is it to early?

Sorry, but I'm lost at this point sad.gif

Why not release LT+ v1.9 for 9504 drives as well they have been in testing for longer than these and are purportedly done.  They don't have any write protection as far as I know and I know they don't if they haven't been updated which mine hasn't.

I wouldn't have said #c4e topic if there wasn't a link in their topic... and also

Pre 13141 is the LT and original firmware for 360s that haven't updated to the new dashboard.

Post 13141 is the LT and original firmware for the 360s that have updated.

You can use the original pre 13141 firmware to flash back to stock if you want to do so before updating to the new dash. Otherwise if you're updated already just flash the new firmware.

I'm wondering what those 1a000, 1b000, 1c000, 1d000 and 1e000 bins are too. I only have a dummy.bin and I don't know which ofw to flash back before updating. How do we tell which version of the 74850c we have???

On a side note, when I use the single orig-liteon_74850c.bin I have from a previous pack, when I put the disc in, the drive spins up really fast and then stops. It never is able to read the disc.

EDIT: The 1a000 worked for me. After a little googling, I found that this string refers to where the drive key is stored in the original fw. I clicked the KeyDB button on jungleflasher. Next I clicked on the drive fw that I was looking for. Then I saw a line that said "DVD Key @: XXXX". Mine started with an 'A' so I chose the 1a000 version. I tested it and this ofw works fine for my drive. I still might be wrong though. I might have flashed the right ofw by coincidence. If anyone knows I'm wrong go ahead and correct me. Or if I'm right and anyone knows a quicker way to find which ofw you should use instead of using the KeyDB then tell too.

orig-74850C-1b000
orig-74850C-1c000

Yes (for Liteon 9504 slim). it's all in the firmware pack i just downloaded.

p.s. i got a Samsung myself though. i might just wait for v2.0 since i probably won't need to get on live anytime soon anyways.

OK .. some help please ...

So I set my Liteon 74850c back to Stock firmware and updated my dash.

I take my original firmware (dummy.bin) and set that as the Source.

I take the FW from Liteon (Phat)  Post 13141 (LTPlus-025v1.9.bin) and set as target.

When I go to spoof source to target it does not copy over ID strings or serial info.

After the dash update my stock FW is now a 0251 drive. My old FW with key is 7485. Do I need to extract a proper set of FW files again or is it safe to go ahead and flash this new FW without all the info.

Should I flash back to OFW before updating the Dash or is it safe flash to LT+1.9 and then update the dash?

Thanks!

I believe it is wise to flash back to OFW before updating. The update is going to reflash your drive any way so why not be on safe side and make sure its flashing over original fw.

Searched around and not sure this has been answered yet: I have a Phat LiteOn 93450C with LT1.1+ without latest dash

1) In what order shall I install dash / flash 1.9+? New Dash, then 1.9+ ? or other way around?
2) Should one restore OFW before updating to New Dash ?
3) After updating to new dash, would it be important to take a new OFW rip as I don't have the expertise/tools to do this myself and if so, what is the risk of not doing this?
4) If OFW is restored, does one need to solder/ use tools to flash new LT+1.9?

Thanks and sorry if this has been asked before. Bit paranoid!

1b000
1c000

etc are just the sectors in which the keys are stored.

It's not really relevant.

1) New Dash and then LT+ v1.9.
2) You can skip restoring OFW before the Dash update. But you will be safer if you will restore OFW prior the DB update. No one knows if MS checks the FW during the update process. So it's up to you.
3) You don't have to read the new FW as long as you have the DVD Key. I assume you have it. Right?
4) No. Once you have your OFW and DVD key, you don't need to read it ever again. So no soldering. And FW write process doesn't require soldering.

Just did this with 2 different consoles (1 BENQ and 1phat liteon)

Followed these steps, as I still have my keys from both consoles.  Both consoles are NOT updated as start of procedure.

1 - remove DVD drive from console, flash back to stock (using firmware from pack - pre-update OFW)
2 - put dvd drive back into console
3 - boot console up, connect to live
4 - get prompted for update, proceed to update (takes a bit)
5 - once update is complete, shut down console
6 - remove dvd drive, flash to ix-lt1.9 (remember, I have my keys saved, so this is simple in JF)
7 - put dvd drive back into console
8 - boot console back up, connect to live, and put in a burned game (for this, I used MK)
9 (optional) - checked xval flags, all seemed normal.

Everything seemed to go smoothly on my end, but then again, the biggest part of this is making sure you have your keys.

Burning off a new copy of MW2 as Ive been missing shooting people in the head and I feel after about a month of not playing, Im gonna be RUSTY!  laugh.gif

Working fine here.
Console was 12625 liteon with lx 1.1

1.) Open dummy.bin to get existing keys/info.
2.) Spoof keys etc into pre OFW version A, check the hardware info to determine which version
3.) Write OFW to drive.
4.) Boot and update on live (takes a while, drive makes some noise while ms plays with it smile.gif )
5.) Verify originals work and backups dont
6.) Spoof keys etc into 1.9 CFW and write to drive
7.) Boot and verify originals and backups now work.
8.) Spend hours reburning for the new ap25 challenges smile.gif

Thanks c4e/team jungle/team xecuter and to all those involved

From what i understand, the serial/barcode data is no longer present in the firmware the update writes, and so is no longer needed in the new firmware series. It was previously considered to be information left on from manufacturer, and true to this it seems it is not needed.

All you need then is the drive key, as 1.9 does not use calibration data, same as with the new ofw.

QUOTE(ThaCrip @ Jun 15 2011, 01:55 AM) *

Yes (for Liteon 9504 slim). it's all in the firmware pack i just downloaded.

p.s. i got a Samsung myself though. i might just wait for v2.0 since i probably won't need to get on live anytime soon anyways.

I dont believe it has if you look more closely at whats in the LiteOn (Slim) folder is only OFW in 0272 and 9504 and 9504 LTPlus1.1 not 1.9 all other folders are empty.

WackyBacky: after the newest dashboard update, all lite-on drives have the 025 firmware so there are no longer specifics (74850, etc etc). as far as the key, you should have it stored somewhere or simply redump it. jungleflasher's mtkflash tab might be looking for it in its previous spot and its no longer there (the dash update moves the key, remember?). so this shouldn't be anything to worry about if you've previously flashed it as the key should be in the keydb anyway.

Would anyone be so kind as to tell me which file i should use to flash back to stock on a Lite-On 748590C Drive please.

orig-74850C-1a000.bin
orig-74850C-1b000.bin
orig-74850C-1c000.bin
orig-74850C-1e000.bin

Just confused me a little when presented with the four choices.

Thank you in advance.

Edit: Figured it out now, just downloaded stock FW somewhere else which just had one file (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

My best guess (and with the Benq it is clearer) is that it's based on the address of your key in your dummy.bin. Bring up dummy.bin as your source in Jungleflasher. Right above the key it should say: DVD Key @ A030 or something similar.

I am assuming if it's an A you use 1a000.bin. If it starts with B use 1b000.bin and so on.

If I have assumed wrong someone please correct me.

You have to flash after you update your dashboard. If you flashed your drive before, the update would just overwrite your firmware with stock firmware. If you have the ability to do so, I would flash back to stock before you update your dashboard just in case MS is checking firmwares. We don't believe that it's even possible to check the firmware of a liteon, but ya never know. It just seems safer to me.

If you've found the firmware package, there should be a set of stock firmwares for your particular drive, all you need is the drive key from your modded firmware, and you can just spoof the stock firmware in JungleFlasher with your drive's key, then flash that to the drive, replace in your Xbox, run the dashboard update, then flash the drive with LT+ 1.9 and you should be good. Though it's doubtful MS detects your drive anyhow, better safe than sorry, that's how I did it with my Benq (LT+ 1.1>stock>upgrade>LT+ 1.9). Good luck!

fredfunk (and other Benq drive owners):

If you haven't updated to the new dashboard yet, you'll want the pre-13141 firmware. If you already have upgraded, you'll want the post. Though if you haven't upgraded yet, your best bet is to use Jungleflasher and reflash your Benq to stock, using the OFW firmware in the firmware bundle under the pre-13141 directory, spoofing the drivekey from your modded firmware to the stock firmware, flash, then do the upgrade. You could always directly flash either pre-or-post dashboard upgrade to the 1.9 firmware, but the chances of MS detecting your firmware increase.

Incredible!!! What's the Estimated IQ of the users here again?  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

Here are the funniest posts ever in this thread:

QUOTE(bullka)

Should I flash back to OFW before updating the Dash or is it safe flash to LT+1.9 and then update the dash?

Thanks!

Here's another good old user of XS who doesn't read the FAQs!

Now this is NOT a dumb question, so I'll answer it:

Which one do i use to flash back to stock?

Thanks.

Since Dummy will not show this data and you wonder where the hell will the key go?

Well, you may simply just choose any, cause any will work, but if you open your Lite_CFW.bin that you
used for flashing your console, you will see above your key area this info, than you may choose the one equivalent to where it's currently flashed at.

Here's the best post ever!! It's not from this thread, it's from the JungleFlasher 184 Release:

No sir, you don't go by what your hardware says, but what your firmware says.

Since you updated and your firmware is now an MS28P...solmething, well, you stick to that. Never spoof to MS25 again.

To be more precise, never spoof your firmware again.

I restored my ms25 fw to stock before updating, after the dash update I read & saved the new fw.

It shows the drive revision as ms25 & the OSIG also as ms25

The fw that C4eva modified is from a ms28 drive, I have spoofed it to match the original ms25 revision & OSIG as thats what my stock fw was showing after the dash update.

I don't think I've seen anyone mention anything like this, but I had a thought. And please anyone more knowledgeable, feel free to chime in and correct me if I'm wrong. I seem to remember someone saying that MS couldn't dump drive firmware because of legal reasons, something about them not owning the firmware.(I honestly can't remember who said it, but I think it was a scene dev)
If this is the case, and knowing that the new stock firmwares don't have anything to do with xgd3 since the hitachis can still read the discs, is it possible that these new firmwares are completely written by MS using technical docs supplied by the drive manufacturers? It seems like that would get them around the legal issue of reading the firmwares(if it even exists), thus allowing them to do so in future updates.  I feel like that would explain the lack of a new firmware for the hitachis, since they are apparently a pain and there are probably very few left in the wild that aren't either in banned or rrod consoles.
Again, It was just a thought I had and I'm not entirely sure it is correct at all.

As far as i know, the issue was not so much legal as it is suitable. Firmware flashing involves an element of risk, and it was considered that ms flashing drive firmware would be considered a risky one for those without modded consoles. A corrupt firmware write means a lot of money for ms with repairs and people sending their consoles in due to issues with the update.

I can understand that about flashing, but I was mainly referring to dumping the firmwares, that specifically is what I remember being a legal problem(again I could be completely wrong about that). The thought came up because so many people seem to be worrying about the 360 sending back a dump of their pre-update firmwares and suggesting flashing back to stock before updating.

hey,

I successfully flashed LT 1.9 on my phat LiteOn, but I wanted to report somethings strange i encountered...

I was on LT Plus and wanted to flash back to stock firmware before updating the dash and then flashing to LT Plus 1.9...

So I tried to flash my orig fw dump... the flash went through and appeared to be successful but I could not eject the dvd tray anymore...

so I flashed the fw in the OW folder in LiteOn_Post_13141... I know it's the wrong fw since i was pre dash update...

the flash went through successfully (was able to eject tray)...

I then updated the dash successfully, and here's the strange thing:

I inserted my original Halo Reach and the dvd drive did not recognize it and displayed PLAY DVD. I tried my original Halo ODST, same thing... I tried a backup, same thing...

very strange to me since the dash update flashed a stock fw onto the drive and originals should work... no idea what happened here...

I then flashed LT Plus 1.9 successfully and now originals and backups work...

anyways, thanx C4Eva - great work !

QUOTE(.:Dino:. @ Jun 15 2011, 01:57 PM) *

Hope that helps

I was wondering the very same thing and wanted to do some tests to see if I could find out just how true this was, so I created several custom firmwares (Phat Liteon LT+ 1.9) using different methods and compared the output files (both CRC and with HxD). This is what I found out:

MY SETUP:
Liteon 83850c V2
JungleFlasher 0.1.84 Beta

CUSTOM FIRMWARES:
Source 1: File dumped from OFW pre-13146 using MRA
Output file CRC: 88359E84

Source 2: File dumped from OFW post-13146 using MRA
Output file CRC: 88359E84

Source 3: Dummy file dumped from OFW post-13146 using PMT
Output file CRC: 88359E84

Source 4: Dummy from KeyDB
Output file CRC: 88359E84

Source 5: Just pasting in my key in JungleFlasher
Output file CRC: 88359E84

From what I can tell, Yafeu and .:Dino:. are correct. For anyone who cares, does it seem like these findings actually support their statements, or have I overlooked something in my tests?

I was being a little paranoid myself with a thought i had. I was thinking how nearly everyone would be reflashing and accepting the new dashboard update on the same day. I would guess M$ could log to see all those consoles that stayed off live suddenly accept their update and start playing on live again on the same day. Of course this wouldnt be proof for them as someone who has always been on stock could also be updating on the same day but it just makes me think, maybe were all on the watch list tongue.gif

Nice work driftfox, thanks for testing this. So as of this update, only the drive key differentiates between any liteon firmware

QUOTE(pt6 @ Jun 16 2011, 04:33 AM) *

Did you remember to use your DVD key when you flashed the firmware from the LiteOn_Post_13141 folder? No DVD key = Play DVD. That's the only thing I can think of

Thanks for the release C4e...... pop.gif

I am a little confused if this is live safe or not. I thought it was not and that the 2.0fw will be..??

If this is safe what will the difference be from 1.9 to 2.0?

Yes it is live safe, that is why C4E made 1.9 so people could go back online using backups, if it wasnt live safe there would be no point to it as LT+ 1.1 isnt live safe and you can use it to play on the new dash but you will most likely get flagged for a ban. I think 2.0 is the same thing but will allow you to play using the new disk format.

Ok..... Some insight would be really helpful here. I have the old LT+ firmware and haven't updated yet. Should I update first and then flash? Or should I just flash now and then do the update?

I believe the preferred method is re-flash to stock fw, update, flash to lt+ 1.9.

I flashed back to stock, updated, and redumped firmware using MRA. After spoofing to orig-02510C-1c000.bin I compared it with my dump and the CRC and MD5 were not the same. So be warned that the orig-02510C-1c000.bin included in the firmware is not the same as the one that is flashed in the 13146 update. Something is different therefore I think it is advisable to redump after updating.

It should be the same, its taken from the system update itself.

What bits differed in a hex compare?

In total commander 1C000 - 1CFF8, which is where the key is stored. I'm not sure what else might be there.

I'm trying to flash a 93450c, but the only file I'm able to find is LTPlus-025v1.9.bin

All lite on models can be flashed with the very same firmware? are they all upgraded to the same version?

Guys, I just flashed back to stock
updated, then re flashed to 1.9LT

I signed into xbox live fine, but I went to use Netflix and  I was prompted for another update and when I try to download it, the  progress bar is very slow so I canceled the download.

is this another update from MS or is it an update that does take a while and is ok to  run with 1.9LT

Probably a bit late to tell you now but...

...If you dont plan on playing on live its pointless updating to 1.9 for now as all it is doing is making you live safe again. I would wait for LT2.0 to be released which will allow XGD3 backup support.

Any idea why?

I have a weird one. I just flashed my 74850c Lite-On to LT+1.9 and now my VGA cable doesn't work. It's not faulty cable as I just bought it today, and it works with a different 360. I know its not the video port because the RCA cables work. Anybody else have this issue or know how to fix?

+1, its possible when you flashed it you could have shorted out somethinig on the motherboard that is causing this issue, but a standard flash wont cause this even if you mess it up.

I am updating to 1.9 over the weekend.

One question is that when patching games with the new ap2.5 patches do we need clean images of the games or can we just repatch the previous image that was patched for the old ap2.5 challenges ?

OK, I have a BENQ, it was latest lt before 1.9. I downloaded update w/o flashing back to stock 1st. I know i should have flashed to stock 1st, but when the update prompt came up, i somehow clicked yes, and didnt wanna turn it off to mess anything up.

so anyways, i plug up the drive to my computer to flash to lt1.9, hit benq unlock, read FW, but when I save it, the log shows:Dumped in 9333mS

Benq Dump file saved to BENQ-OFW2.bin
Loading firmware from buffer
Parse Failed !

Loading MTK_Flash source file

then when i try to load it as source, i get:Parse Failed !

Loading MTK_Flash source file
Loading firmware file C:\Documents and Settings\user\Desktop\BenQ iXtreme LT Plus v1.9\BenQ_Post_13141\OFW\BENQ-OFW2.bin

I also still have the original FW from the 1st time i flashed it, i can load that as source, and 1.9 as target, is it safe to use that?

I guess I will buy the USBpro .
but I do have a PC to work with , what is the native SATA connection , i am curious.
Thanks again
