More Info from C4Eva: AP2.5 Trigger, SSv3, Activate AP2.5, Retail AP2.5 Games, Old Games, x360SEDPosted by XanTium | November 3 00:13 EST | News Category: Xbox360 |
| |
C4Eva talked a bit more about the new AP2.5 (Anti-Piracy v2.5) protection and answered some questions in #FW@EFnet.
[+c4eva] just a word of warning on the sed "disc swap" [note x-s: see our x360SED v1.0 news], although this passes the timing check, ap25 also returns data from its check which will be wrong with the wrong disk and will get you banned!
[+c4eva] the trigger for ap25 is still being investigated, but assume a list of titles of some sort or some check, not the xex! [+c4eva] no ap25 traffic was ever logged with fifa 09
[**] c4eva, it is known yet whether AP2.5 can flag you in an offline state? [+c4eva] **:yes it can [+c4eva] console flag
[***] SSv3 just for ap2.5 games or all others? [+c4eva] ssv3 will be required for any game that activates ap25
[****] c4eva: does that mean old games that dont have ap25, that we burned, as ssv2 are safe? [+c4eva] ****:yes
[*****] c4eva do you think it is possible that they activate ap25 with a title update on old games? [+c4eva] possible
[*****] c4eva is it a bad idea playing a retail ap25 game on current fw too ? [*****] well obv. for new dash [+c4eva] *****:should be fine

None of this is new. It's all been addressed in the last few days.
-
its just more clearer, concise and to the point.
-
Yes, no offense to the other thread, but listening to what is and isn't from "xboxboi69" just doesn't hold much weight for me; seriously, that thread is a mess of know-nothing folks seeming to have any authority to give suggestions. It's nice to know that, for the sake of safety, just playing the retail discs is the best advice for a little while. Erring on the side of caution, as usual, is the safer method at this point.
What I would love to know now is what titles from the past have the capability of getting an ap 2.5 title update (such as fifa 09), which could be dangerous to play a backup of if certain conditions changed. How many games/game publishers have put this into their game discs from the past few years we may now have to steer clear of for a little bit?

If you look at how long a member has been here and their relative post count that will generally give you a good idea of their reliability. However, some exceptions do apply.
As for AP2.5 being added: I've said before that it's my understanding that this security check can be used with all games, and this needing only a title update. I might be wrong, but that is my understanding. If this turns out to be incorrect it saves a lot of hassle with recreating backups, but it's what I understand at this point.
Short and sweet: if you use custom firmware on LIVE--which I don't recommend as it's a breach of the TOU and will eventually get you banned--don't play anything but originals until further notice.

I have a comment, questions:
I updated my console with the latest Kinect Dashboard. My console has a flashed Hitachi drive spoofed as Lite-On. I tried Fable 3 and I got the disc error message, meaning it did not pass AP2.5. My questions are:
Is my console flagged because of that one time not passing AP2.5? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/uhh.gif)
If so, Is it possible to reverse the flag by playing retail copy of Fable 3? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)
Should I get trade-in the console before it gets ban? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/muhaha.gif)

God dammit people, PLEASE quit spamming all these threads with the same questions about your console. Nobody knows if you'll be banned, so STOP ASKING. If you think you might, do whatever you think is the correct step, as nobody else can tell YOU what you should/shouldn't do at this point except err on the side of caution. Sell/trade-in/bake a cake/do nothing/etc.... just stop looking for answers where nobody has them... it only invites opinions-as-answers, which doesn't help anyone.

First question: Probably.
Second: Unlikely.
Third: It'll end up in a situation where they go by your house and demand their money back.
And agree on mdoggie, just read the news that passes by and if you checked other threads about the banning and whatnot , you would know an answer to your questions.

I think its awesome though that c4 has been giving updates as much as he has for the past few days.
He must me getting asked a ton of stupid questions right now, well stupid to him.
Man he is like a frigging rock star or almost godly like.
Keep up the updates and the good work C4EVA!!
I think it would be cool if someday Microsoft puts a message in their firmware saying something like
"C4 If you can read this ____ ____" Just to play with him a bit.
Ok I think I'm gettting stupid now to.

My console has been offline flagged and cripples. How can I un-flag it. I have not been banned from Xbox Live because I can still create a repair order.
I was in the Beta and I played Fable 3 backup (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) (Offline ONLY)
xVal 2.0 shows AP 2.5 check fail.
Can I use a USB Nand flasher and un flag my console ?
Profile Corrupts - I want to keep the console for Offline use only.

That is what c4 said the other day so I would think that would be the case.
There are a few reports of people with older hitachi drives playing fable 3 and not getting flagged.
But then there are a couple people who said the game wouldn't boot.
Best wait and stay away from fable for now until this all smooths over.
-
what about if I have two 360s. One is modded and the other I use for live. Can I still switch HDDs or will I be flagged?
-
I never have cared much about the bannings I just have always wanted an explanation as to why some systems get banned vs others that have the exact same firmware, played the exact same games gett banned vs others that don't. I'm still on a 2 of my systems running boot disc because they didn't get banned. Just strange.
Wondering what msft will do for older toshiba-samsung, and hitachi drives. That's my main focus because if they are just going to say forget those roms then that's great news for me since I have a never connected to live hitachi and samsung oler sytems that have red ring of death but or easily fixable just haven't gotten around to it yet.
-
Only a question: If i play a backup of an Ap 2.5 game (like fable 3) in a console with the old dashboar, i'll get flagged?
I just think of no, 'cause the ap 2.5 check is only un the new Kinect dash. Am i wrong?
-
C4E made everything more clear this time.
If AP25 can be activated through title updates (C4E answered "possibly"), that means that we can:
1. Update to Kinect Dashboard.
2. Play ssv2 backups as we did with LT firmware before the DB update.
3. Avoid Title updates (as they can activate AP25). And of course avoiding title updates will disconnect us from Live.
4. Don't play AP25 backups (Fifa, Fable3).
Is my summary correct?
And how we could be sure that all title updates (which we installed before Nov1) haven't activated AP25 yet? Maybe MS included AP25 activation code in all title updates in advance?

DO NOT UPDATE TO THE NEW KINECT DASHBOARD! If you do that then you will be safe for now (educated guess). Just wait until C4EVA release the new LT+ firmware. Simple as that! These threads are becoming full of people asking what if I did this what if I did that and its becoming a pain having to serach through pages of post to get some meaningful information. The only person who has a definitive answer to your questions is C4EVA so any answers you get here will be either complete guesses or educated guesses but either way they will be guesses. So for now just:
DO NOT UPDATE TO THE NEW KINECT DASHBOARD AND WAIT FOR UPDATES FROM C4EVA!

If this is the case, please tell me .. I am missing my gold live

READ!
In short, yes.
-
Just to let you know, I have retail version of FABLE 3 and have updated to the new dash (my son did it!) I have a lite drive and the retail copy does not work. It goes straight to a disc reading error and contact MS support screen. Seems to me that the retail copy is also being flagged if used on modded firmware.

QUOTE
[*****] c4eva do you think it is possible that they activate ap25 with a title update on old games?
[+c4eva] possible
I think that is the scariest point there as it means that users will now have to be wary of title updates as well as dash changes, when previously title updates were fine.
You can bet Black Ops will be getting this added to it in the very near future since CoD titles are generally updated regularly anyway so they will be able to phase it in almost un-noticed. You have to hand it to Microsoft in that it's a great way to keep the pirates offline without actually going to the trouble of banning them.

It does but it would be wise to check on here prior to installing any title updates, especially for a game like Reach.

This is an update from c4eva, if people want to update to the new kernel then let them, they will just have to be very careful about what they play for a while.
I'd say for most of the people I've seen on here though, your reply is right on the money.

Well generally I don't accept any titles update .. for example bad company 2 always asks me to update ( i.e there's an update available ) but I chose no and it still works online.
I only accept the LIVE updates that come with the DVD itself .. the ones that install @ the intros etc..
I never tried reach yet ... because personally i didn't enjoy Halo3 all that much ... especially that I just got it this year (this is my first console ever since the Sega Genesis
) and most of the halo 3 mp options are disabled cuz they want ALL THE DLC installed. . which sucks ..
so all I wanted to CONFIRM is that I can play my current games like fifa and bad company 2 for example safely online with just SSV2 patched.
edit : on Liteon/benq ( Can't tell , Don't want to remove the frontface
) with LT firmware
Thanks .

The way that I read this, and this could just be my interpretation, is that SSV2 will be fine unless the game has AP25 activated on it via an update which will then mean that SSV3 is needed to circumvent current known checks.
Basically, if you want to play your originals of those games online right now using the LT firmware then you should be fine. If you want to play backups then that should really be done with caution.

Sorry but no...the % of people who flash drives is not very high at all. I million even if that is how many they banned the first time doesn't represent a large portion of machines sold. The majority of people online play legitimate retail discs. If you are worried about getting banned start playing your originals for a while.
-
I agree (re:Using orig's) I will be playing all my online games on my online box with originals untill LT+ and/or post nov ban wave. I'm just hoping the legendary JTAG devs will do a version of kinect dash for JTAG that has AP2.5 removed <plus Kinect+JTAG=cool 4 obvious reasons> and eventually this may be the only way to play offline - LT+ excluded of course but don't 4get it will prolly only get released for liteon and benq) I would be interested to see if any existing TU's can do AP2.5 chex..
One question I would like to ask (but I can't install IRC etc.. - Borrowed PC) anyone who can give a decent answer : Is there some way to identify A} AP2.5 capable code and/or: B} AP2.5 Capable discs
Also: I wonder if it would be possible somehow to write to the Nand (without corrupting) over the piece of code the determines the drive OSIG (Kinda like the secdata thing but for OSIG) I know it's a real stretch but I also know there are non-M$ employees who could achieve this (They just might not make it public for obvious reasons ...Depending on how they achieve it .....)
By the way: I am no longer answering the silly/repetitive questions from ppl who either : (A}are too lazy to do a simple search and/or read B} Are M$ employees spaming crap C} Too stupid)
At any rate anyone fitting any of these categories shouldn't have anything to do with FW themselves. I would ask that everyone else resist the tepmtation to answer these type of posts (Unless obviously from some1 who has attempted to search, read then understand)
For obvious reasons.
one more thing: If you have been flagged offline then in some cases you may be able to fix it if you catch it before you go back online by clearing secdata etc.. (Not garunnteed but it couldn't hurt if ur secdata is dirty as U will get it anyway)

NEVER go online with a copy but use the copy to decide if the game is good or not, then BUY the original and play online.
is that safe?

I will answer ur first question as it could be genuine, the second ... search/read/understand
EDIT: I stupidly only just noticed that u r askin 1 question(at least I think) - a stupid one.. If ur talking about doing both on same console then stupid question-search/read/understand b4 u post I left my answer below incase some1 wanted an answer to part1 of ur question
If ur console is booting orig AP2.5 (like fable3 - and not giving unreadable) Then more than likley it's OK .. But nothing is certain (Put it this way: I have an old online box w/LT and after update I will play only older backup(s) (If I really have to) unless they put-out TU for said game(s) Otherwise originals only.. (Mind you I now have an orig-only-online slim I just bought today as it seems I will now have to maintain 3 consoles for my own personal use:
1 JTAG(Offline)
1 Old-dontcareaboutwaitandseeprobablyflaggedalready LT toting (online)
and my new Orig FW/orig disc playing only unmodded (Online)
Anyone still think M$ aren't raking in the cash from modders???

So, I'm a little confused, If anyone knows:
I have XENON JTAG and Hitatchi w/ ix1.5 and play all my own backups with XBC, and NEVER go online.
I haven't picked up Fable 3 yet, but I'm thinking about getting it this weekend.
I know not to update dash, that's a no brainer for JTAG.
I never go online with this machine, so I don't care what flags get set on my system.
Can I play Fable 3, and these other ssv3/ap2.5s? Or will they not even run at all?
I know C4 mentioned it, but it seems that in the context he's referring to online play...
Thanks guys.

Okay, first of all apologies for the question, but I didn't want to create a new thread for it.
I've currently got 3 xboxes - 1 old 20GB Premium/Pro with a Hitachi 59 spoofed as a Hitachi 78, a 120GB Elite with Liteon and a scratch attracting 360 S[lim].
The only modded (and only banned) 360 is the old Hitachi. It's running the Pre-Kinect Dash with IX1.51 and so obviously plays any game that's thrown at it.
IF I understand, the older sammy/hitachi drives didn't support AP2.5 and thus will play the new backups without problem..? Would this still be the case if I updated to the new Dash too?
Thanks in advance.

Sammy drives and some hitachis (i dono which ones) are incapable of performing the check, so it is just skipped. Therefore the check cant be enforced on this dash update, or any future dash update.
I dont know if this helps anyone out, but my friend is running a hitachi v79 with I believe ix 1.51 (possibly older) and STILL has never been banned. He has only played retail disks for the past 1.5 years. Dont ask me why he has a modded console and dosent use it because I have no idea....

Is there a resource online that tracks and documents TUs. If not... looks like it's time... Not only for this; for JTAGs also.
Someone start a wiki.
UPDATE: Did some research... found this URL: http://xbuc.net/ . but... the sites URL has changed several times in the last year and i'm not sure how complete it is... can anyone shed some light?
UPDATE 2: after looking around, we need it to be a lot more detailed.. that's for sure...
-
I don't play online anymore anyway. Even if the AP2.5 can flag your console offine it doesn't matter in my case. All I know is I made a mistake in using the official system update making my 360 unable to play Fable III. The good thing is I finished it twice before doing so. The bad thing is I may have played through it a few more times and can't until the new FW comes out.
-
Well i've got more stupid questions (stupid for you). If somebody knows anything of this please reply:
1. What if I have played an SSv1 game when I was OFFLINE and after that I got ONLINE again? Am I flagged?
2. How can I check (If I accualy can) if I am flagged?
3. As everybody knows Fable 3 and Black Ops aren't working on newest software. So is there any new iXtreme coming out or what? I know that somebody is working on this but I don't know anything about the effects of this work.
Please help me. Thanks.

QUOTE(desta @ Nov 3 2010, 04:36 PM)

Thanks in advance.
older hitachis don't support AP2.5. Hitachi 78 is a new one, afaik it supports AP25. and it dosn't matter what drive is spoofed. if console/dashboard expects Hitachi 78 with AP25, your spoofed older drive should act as Hitachi 78 with AP25 support. so don't update now.
If you want kinnect support, try to update 12416, it's on the disc with Fighting Uncaged, and afaik doesn't activate AP25.

Black Ops hasn't been released to retail, and the ISO floating around has SSV1 instead of SSV2, so that's no good either. Also, who knows if the patch is any good, since the game hasn't been released...so it really shouldn't even be discussed any more than it has.

all you ppl are pirating just play your retail disc of fable 3 and shut up

using XVal_v2.0.zip is the only 'known' way at the moment ....
(which uses the console serial, and the 'X' value in the dash info screen and which is a link to the 'secdata.bin file of which MS uses to store bad things on you)

Hi guys,
I'm new here, i come from a french community, and there's 2 things that seems to works, but we're not sure right now, not sure if it's really working, or if it's some kind of luck.
- One guy (bulkanosaure) just updated the dashboard to 12611, by usb, without the dvd-rom plugged, and he was able to run every backup, even fable 3.
He tried this on his xenon, which hasn't got OSIG, Kernel 5787.
He managed to run backups with LiteOn, BenQ, Samsung, Hitachi, under LT FW and non LT.
It seems that it doesn't work with a different MB, not sure, he doesn't made it himself for the second box.
- Another one (Davted) updated to 12611, put FW LT 1.0, then FW LT 1.1, then the original FW, and put again the FW LT 1.1, and then Fable 3 backup is running.
This was made on a jasper, liteon 84850 extrem 1.6
Edit : This second way was made just on one box for now, not tried yet on another one, too recent.
I just submit you this in case of it could help you, and to have your point of view on all of this.
Thanks

A simpe way to write-protect our NAND (only) for offline tests.
If we do that:
http://www.xbox-scene.com/xbox1data/sep/Ek...ZpuCOUujZej.php
http://www.xbox-scene.com/xbox1data/sep/Ek...kVpnCZQzlsH.php <- with IR controller
http://www.xbox-scene.com/xbox1data/sep/Ek...yEuXPSHrjbV.php
http://img94.imageshack.us/f/schemi.png <- with interrupter
CAUTION: you need to undo the WP if you want to update the dash or if you want to change any system settings.
So, if we get an "Failed AP25 Challenge" and or NAND is write protected or X value won't change because the secdata.bin can't be modified.
I think it will be any way to read NAND, read secdata.bin, restore it to a previous state (like when we restore our banned hard drives) to restore our X value to a "Secdata is Clean" status.
Obviously, if you get the AP25 error when connected to xbox live or you connected to live after you get the error your console is flagged.
any opinions? any other theory?
-
So I know that playing ap2.5 will get you flagged even in offline status. However, I have a box solely to play offline (as well as an online legit box), so my question is that this "flag" is on the console only and not on my profile (memory card) correct?
Wonder if anyone will brave Fighters Uncaged to see if it has ap2.5...
thx ahead of time if anyone can answer that for me

Console flag.
-
I could be wrong, but with the old method to "uncripple" your box, wasn't it was important to have not overwritten your secdata enough times that you didn't have a viable unflagged version of your secdata to revert to right? Just might be important to note that in case people who are AP 2.5 flagged want to nand edit their way out of it, if its even possible.

it would corrupt your gamertag on whichever device is saved on the console, whether its the HD or a mem card. The whole point is to prevent people from gaining gamerpoints on a flagged console, then moving the gamertag to a legit console and updating their gamerscore. If you could just save it on a mem card, that wouldn't work for arcade users, and would be way to easy of a workaround of consoles w/ hard drives.

I have incorrectlt reported that Fable 3 will work on JTAG : IT WONT (At least by normal means) The .XEX may need special patching. I will figure-out how to do this and write a tut.
Also: I observed the Fable 3 disc looks phisically different to a normal disc, it has data out past the security layer on the edge of the disc (Compare for yourself and you will see what I mean) This will almost certainly mean it will have to be backed-up and ripped in a new manner (probably with new means also)
Also: I observed that Fable3 now has a 4mb TU. I'm betting this will make it work with sammys etc.. on the new dash.
Sorry if any of this info is duplicated but I wont have time to review the recent postings untill tonight.

Console flag.
It's on ur Nand, If you've been online since then it's uploaded the XVal and marked u for ban.
UPDATE: How to get AP 2.5 Games(Like Fable 3) to run on JTAG from HDD
Simply xtract to your Hard drive (or USB) as you would normally (Using your favourite program)
Then: Go to the folder the game is in and copy the file 'default.xex' to a USB (Or any other means for getting it onto a PC)
Copy it into the same folder (keep the original for backup in a seperate folder) as Xextool (Xorloser's program - extract it from it's .rar - I usually just put it at the root of any given drive eg; C:\ etc..)
Next: Run cmd.exe from the start menu to bring up the command line window.
Then: Making sure you are in the directory that contains the default.xex and Xextool.exe
Type: Xextool -r a Default.xex
You can now copy the Default.xex file back into the game directory that you originally got it from
Enjoy!

Hi guys!
This is my first post and i'm doing all i can not to upset you.
Here's my question,
I have a original Xbox 360 Elite 120 GB that i bought december 2009.
If i go to my local "flash store" tomorrow and flash it with LT, will i be able to
play any games?
If i quote c4eva
[****] c4eva: does that mean old games that dont have ap25, that we burned, as ssv2 are safe?
[+c4eva] ****:yes
I'm only interested in playing Medal of Honor and Fallout: New Vegas for now.
If i burn two legit(ssv2 copies) of those will i be safe?
Regards
Acursio

Everyone just needs to be patient, stay offline, and wait. For all the past updates and ban waves I would stay online even before any fixes would be released and somehow avoided being banned ever. This time my Spidey Sense is telling me otherwise, so I'm chilling for a few weeks.

Just for the info,
I have the Kinect with the Newest dash, I bought 2 Kinect originals and they Play fine. I have a Benq with Ixtreme LT 1.2
There is one thing I noticed, there is a 2mb file that is a required download before you play each Kinect game. This may be of some interest to somebody.
It downloaded only once and installed. It may be the AP2.5 checks.. I dont know tho..

run your xval and see if you are now flagged after the xbox downloaded that 2mb file...

QUOTE(Spark @ Nov 3 2010, 06:08 AM)

You have to hand it to Microsoft in that it's a great way to keep the pirates offline without actually going to the trouble of banning them.
I think you're completely missing what's going on. Microsoft is banning them offline, only pirates won't realize it until they try to go online or move their profile to another console. This is simply their attack against the pirates who keep one console for offline play, earning achievements and moving their profile to another console for online play.

Well some ppl reported it not ripping properly to HDD on JTAG boxes, So I tried it and sure enough if you rip with Xexmenu 1.1 then running it will turn the box off. It's possible it has something to do with dashlaunch but my guess (seeing how it worx if u follow my tut) is that some dash programs don't remove all restrictions(for good reason as many titles dont always work with this level of patching) EXISO is same system as ISO2GOD for patching. Many ppl with JTAG don't have 0800 ability as they got their JTAG so they wouldn't need it...

it was announced in another thread, a new lt firmware is coming for the drives that need it, no ETA.
is there anyway to remove the systemupdate folder from a game iso? someone said that it can be done with wavechanger, but there is conflicting info, so can it be done? I thought the systemupdate folder is on the game partition, and changing it breaks the games xex, any info would be appreciated.
this is for a benq lt 1.2 btw

This is what happened for me using 1.6 FW
1.Bought Kinect, Put in Kinect Adventures, It Updated my Dashboard.
2.Restarted Xbox, calibrated. Played Kinect Adventures.
3.Burned Dance Central. Played Fine
4.Burned Kinect Sports. Asked to update. So I updated. At the end it Rebooted and froze at Xbox360 logo for 5minutes.
5. Restarted Xbox, Said Xbox needed update for kinect. Kinect stopped working. Backups wouldn't load.
6.Burned the Dashboard update to a DVD. Installed it. Calibrated Kinect.
7.Kinect sports, Dance Central, Adventures all work fine (Using boot disc of course)
Not exactly sure whats going on? Maybe this Dashboard I downloaded is Different then the one that was first installed.

Read this report on the AP 2.5 from Eurogamer
They are saying that the new security can randomly change code and challenges at any time so even if C4EVA does hack it a few weeks down the line and we could be in the same situation again... at least that's what I got when I read the report so please correct me if I'm wrong.
Hopefully this isn't the case, if it is... all I ask is if I flash my drive back to OFW will I be safe online?
BTW I just purchased a 12 month gold membership hours before the announcement of the new security feature lol (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)
Also I'm running BenQ 1.2 LT on 2.0.8955 Dash and Fable 3 and Black Ops run fine, also clean SecData according to XVal 2.0

QUOTE(Anyone @ Nov 5 2010, 11:00 AM)

I am new on this forum, I have a few questions regarding AP 2.5 protection. I have read everything written about AP 2.5 protection of the new game, but we have not found the answer to my problems.
I have a xbox 360 with 1.4 FW (I know I have to update) with samsung DVD drive (lite-on replaced) , I use a wave patcher to patch my games to wave 2, using old dashboard, newer play online.
1.Can I play a new games (Fable 3, COD: BO) with old dashboard, using wave patcher without moving to a new dashboard?
2. If i update to the new dashboard will it disable playing old games on the existing FW?
3.I read that the Samsung drive is not recognized by AP 2.5 protection. So I have a samsung dvd drive (replaced lite-on) I'm I sure from activation AP 2,5 protection if I update to new dashboard?
I know these are stupid questions, but please someone responds
1. If you stay on the old dashboard version you can play Fable 3 and COD: BO. If you update to the new Kinect Dashboard Update you can't play Fable 3 anymore at this time because of AP 2.5 protection. But COD:BO works on the old and the new dashboard.
2. I“ve tested several old games. All games were playable on the new dashboard. But nobody really knows what Microsoft plans for the future. Maybe a later timed protection could be activated in some weeks by Microsoft. Who knows?
3. Spoofed Drives are recognized by the Kinect Update, i tested my old Samsung Drive in my 360 with normally a Lite-On Drive installed when i bought it. So changing the Drive to a Samsung / old Hitachi does not work. You have to wait for the new C4E Drive Firmware if you plan to update to the new dashboard.
So if you don't want to use kinect and kinect games you should maybe better not update at this moment.
But if you have a 360 with an original Samsung Drive you could play those titles with AP 2.5 protection.
-
hi guys two question
1) if you are on firmware 1.6 (one shot boot) then update to kinect dashboard will new games work ?
2) if you are on 1.61 and update to kinect future games wont work ?
apologies if this has already been asked but i have not found the answers!
kind regards

If you correctly flash back to OFW, you should in theory be fine. In fact, C4E has said LT is fine with originals, so you should be able to skip flashing back.
About your link...you're basically believing what some no nothing journalist guy has written on a random website. Now, I'm in no way that knowledgeable on any of this, but here's how I see it: The SSv1 and SSv2 are just the challenge responses the firmware uses to fool the xbox. Now there's a new challenge, Ap25. The correct responses for this are not contained in SSv1 or SSv2, so that's why we have the Fable 3 problem. Just like C4E said, there is going to be a new SSv3, which will contain the proper answers to this new AP25 challenge. Now if the challenges can change anytime MS wants (Title Update most likely), it makes sense to not precalculate the responses like SSv1 and v2 do since they can be rendered wrong at any time by an update. Instead, why not just grab the data used in calculating the responses and store that on the disc? Then the firmware can correctly calculate the response no matter what "random" AP25 challenge the xbox wants to send it. It should be fine to calculate it on the fly with LT firmware as long as we make sure the calculation stays true to the outcome/timing of how the original FW does it. MS can change the challenge, but they can't just randomly change the disc data that responds to it. The true hard part is finding the algorithm used to produce the response...C4 may have already figured it out due to how confident he sounded about it.
I think this is likely how C4 will do it, given that he says he will use SSv3 and a new FW (to know what to do with SSv3). Like I said before though, I def don't know that much about the specifics behind all of this (there may be a technical limitation that forces precalculation of responses)...anyone else more knowledgeable want to chime in?

Hi all. Question if I may..
I have a Benq LT1.1 360 that I have not got online with since the update. I have played fable 3 (non retail) though previously and wondered if I took out the hard drive and put it in my unmodded elite if I should be ok to update and play my originals and kinect. I use the same hard drive for both and I installed fable 3 on the hdd.
Am I in danger of a ban for my gamer tag or either console?
Thanks for the input...love the community!!

I burned Fighters Uncaged, Kinect Sports, Dance Central, Kinect Joy Ride, and the all work perfectly fine.
Same here at first they didn't because I thought I was on LT fw but forgot since the one xbox I was using was banned I never cared about upgrading from 1.6 to LT. Once I did all the burned games starting working since it had the new wave support built into the fw. Kinect sports was a blast to play

What? Kindly put commas, they are included on the keyboard. You updated from Ix 1.6 to LT?.... then all the kinect games you burnt started to work right after you updated to LT?
Are you sure you are not lying? Isn't it.... LTs + Liteons = DVD error/Disc unreadable for FABLE 3 and KINECT GAMES? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/uhh.gif)

Ok, I do believe that as around 10 persons on the past thread confirmed it too.
But, majority (I haven't seen anyone that didn't) said that FABLE 3 & KINECT GAMES completely works on Ixtreme 1.6 (old model/brand drives) WITH THE USE OF the activate.iso disc. How come he did not get the KINECT GAMES play on his Ixteme 1.6?... that he had to update to LT first to get it to work.

QUOTE(wside420 @ Nov 5 2010, 08:24 PM)

This is what happened for me using 1.6 FW
1.Bought Kinect, Put in Kinect Adventures, It Updated my Dashboard.
2.Restarted Xbox, calibrated. Played Kinect Adventures.
3.Burned Dance Central. Played Fine
4.Burned Kinect Sports. Asked to update. So I updated. At the end it Rebooted and froze at Xbox360 logo for 5minutes.
5. Restarted Xbox, Said Xbox needed update for kinect. Kinect stopped working. Backups wouldn't load.
6.Burned the Dashboard update to a DVD. Installed it. Calibrated Kinect.
7.Kinect sports, Dance Central, Adventures all work fine (Using boot disc of course)
Not exactly sure whats going on? Maybe this Dashboard I downloaded is Different then the one that was first installed.
Sounds like the first AP 2.5 TU !! We can expect more of these in the future (Updates that activate the new checks) The new Agreement on the 12611 Kinect dash actually implies that M$ will be able to do TU's without confirmation first(Although semi-illeagal in many countries) We have yet to see this (AFAIK)
So my advice to everyone wanting to stay on Xbox-Live for the time being:(1st)Check your Xval, If clean then (2nd) Re-Flash your original FW (If you can) or rebuild your orig FW (Once again if you can- If you can't send it to a pro) (3rd) Dig-in for the long wait (Playing only originals on ur Live box in the meantime) As I had been worried since I first looked into this - It may be some time before LT+ is released for 2 reasons A) It's a fair bit of work to code something like that and (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) C4eva Needs as much data on new AP2.5 games as possible (M$ may initially try to trick us by making the same C/R chex untill after LT+ is out) Due to the number of possible responses etc.. It may end-up being more than just flashing new FW eg; A piggy-back (PIC)chip the needs updating regularly to keep-up with new game releases.
I hope I'm wrong ....
Could anyone who have a look at the kinect games and see if the outer ring changes to the dull(er) colour (as on a normal disc) and then changes back to the shiny(er) colour unlike the older discs

I hope your right (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

I have a copy of Fable 3, (Fortunately) I haven't tested it yet since I'm completing achievements for Madagascar Kartz and a couple other childish games.. I tried googling the ap2.5 but I haven't found any direct answers..
-I never connnect to Live, so if for example I inserted a disc with AP 2.5 and it detects the game(s) that are inserted on the disc/installed on the drive is only a copy, my console will be forever banned?
-If not, then what will happen?
-I plan on buying Dragon Ball Raging Blast 2. Is this disc also affected by AP 2.5.
I have a modded console but I'm unsure on the specifics since I bought it this way. This has a higher kernel, and cannot be Jtagged. Help please, thank you very much.

So the original Activate.ISO works for Kinect games?
Old Hitachi, Samsung, Samsung-Toshiba drives + Ixtreme 1.51, 1.6, 1.61 (not sure about 1.61) + Activate.iso disc = Fable 3 & Kinect games would play perfectly.
-
So it sounds like if you have a drive that has ixtreme 1.60 non stealth you should be fine?
This is the one question I have kept asking and kept getting told my system would be banned and I couldn't swap hard drives, and blah blah blah. All that seemed to not answer my question and one that seemed others have had.
Could care less about being banned with an offline only system and one that has it's own hard drive and gamertag. I just have been wanting to but a Kinect and didn't want to worry about games not playing or loading. I know there isn't a 100% for sure answer, I am just wanting to find out if anyone with 1.60 non stealth, which my drive is a Lite On, has been cooperative since it seems all the info is for the LT versions of ixtreme and haven't seen info on the older 1.60 non stealth versions.

I just downloaded the new update. Liton 9 series with latest LT. Played Fallout New Vegas. Sec Data is still clean. Will most def stay away from new games till LT+.
On a side note... i only updated because Fallout is super glitchy and messed up my game save. I read that if i cleared my cache and re-downloaded the patch from Live that it would clear it up, no it didn't. Hundreds are affected by this glitch and many others.

Since the TS-H943A ms25/ms28 original firmware doesn't support AP 2.5, what if i spoof a sam with latest LT to think its the lite on for my system, would i be more or less as safe as i was before this new dash?

Dam, U should post here more often as yoou clearly have a talent for explaining things.
I might be wrong but I'm pretty sure SS= Security Sector (The security layer on a disk that holds the data used to calculate the responses) So when AGBX (schooled ppl - for want of a better term) refer to SSv2 etc, they're refering to the way we store the SS data on a dual(2) layer disc (I think originals have 3 layers - but we cleverly fool the drive into thinking there are 3 as the SS only takes-up a small area on the edge of the disc) Hence the need for Hakd-FW.
So sometimes (and maybe I've been reading forums too long) I(and others) might<Incorrectly> refer to M$ new copy-protection as SSv3 (ie; the new security sector containing the AP 2.5 info) Which I would guess is right over the top of the SSv2 (Where 'normal' C/R info is stored) That's why I keep asking ppl to look at the new kinect discs BTW. Whereas as my learned friend above has pointed-out that SSv2 etc, really refers to the way 'we' store SS info on backups.
My guess is that is how they have done it whilst keeping the same media type and allowing for backwards compatability. Like my friend above has pointed-out the info has to be stored somewhere on the original etc.. and that FW should be able to generate responses in the same way that stock setup would do ... (thus, yes it maybe unlimited responses - but formulas should be applicable) etc.. One wonders why sammys and hitachis aren't capable of this function (flash-size perhaps?- More likley M$ got liteon to put in specialised commands)
AFAIK (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) - Please sorrect me if I'm wrong (I won't take it personally - we all have to learn somehow)
Brgds/Dan

It was a blessing that I did not update my firmware and did not bought a liteon xbox 360.
My current status of having:
1.) Samsung-Toshiba drive
2.) Ixtreme 1.6 firmware with the permanent use of Activate.iso Disc
3.) Halo 3 limited ed console, 07-30-07 manufacturing date.
Fable 3 and all the KINECT GAMES work perfectly, BUT NOT SAFE ONLINE. Anyways, I do not play online on this console. I use my un-modified Xbox slim for online gaming. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Why they put the ap25 only on Fable 3 ?
All kinect games runs fine...This makes no sense.
I hope they continue without ap25. (great games coming this month...)

M$ are obviously threatned by the way in which C4E and Team Jungle are making it harder for them to track whos flashed their Xbox's, so they design and develop a new form of protection against it. C4E has already stated that hes cracked AP2.5 and he is doing one hell of a good job. Hes not going to be wanting to release too much information on the f/w that him and Team Jungle are currently working on as M$ employees are no doubt watching all these forums on the net finding what everyone is doing. Its just obvious, I wouldn't be suprised if some of them are members and are posting on this forum.
Either way they will be a ban wave, Developers are the ones complaining about flashed Xbox's and m$ probably don't really care about piracy just as long as they have an excuse to ban a few hundred thousaund xbox's to get their profits up for the holidays.
Sorry for the noob question (been away from the scene for a while) but is 1.51 for hitachi's still the safest f/w? Seems a long time ago that it was released!
Cheers,
Kurt

Its not the games that are flagging consoles to be banned its the new dashboard. I haven't played on my xbox for over 4 months so thought I'd test the theory that dash was *SAFE* as long as you dont play newer games so checked on Xval2.0 and it came back with a clean status. Updated to new kinect dashboard still not played any games re-checked Xval2.0 and now status returns error. Yet my son has played fable 3 and COD Black ops not gone online not done the new dash and his status on Xval2.0 is still showing clean. My point is regardless of what games you play new or old if you do the dash you will be flagged for banning.. IT IS DEFINATLY THE NEW DASH NOT THE GAMES DO NOT UPDATE TO NEW DASH UNTIL NEW LT+ IS OUT...

Have instructed both my son and daughter to stay offline and not do the new dash till LT+ is released then I can re-flash their consoles hopefully before christmas as my daughter is getting a kinect. There are never any guarantees as to what flags your console for banning whether it be game, update etc, Thats why I thought i'd check on my console before my kids as I very rarely even go online not into all the online games.. Since now i have the AC Brotherhood extracted as a folder im going to ftp it over to a jtag and see what the end result is. Weird thing is in iso forms its 7.29 GB and when you extract it comes up as 6.45 GB. Thats where when getting it back to an iso abgx comes up saying its xxxxxx bytes short.

Yea JoParsons, you're information is wrong. I know someone who updated to the new dashboard with LT and hasnt played Fable 3 or any new games and xval reports clean status. I know someone who updated AND played Fable 3 before the information go tto them and their secdata shows ap2.5 challenge... so it ISNT updating to new Kinect dash that flags you.

removing the $systemupdate does nothing. the game will still ask for an update in order to play and will return to the xbox dashboard.

So why was my console flagged after doing the dash when the last game I played was SAW 1 I very rarely play on xbox as there are not many games that I actually like plus dont have much time with being full time mum.. My console status was clean before i did the update yet within 5 mins of doing update status shows error maybe the AP25 is active in older games too not completly sure how it works all I know is that I have not played anything since SAW 1 and my console is flagged according to Xval2.0. I was just suggesting maybe its much safer to wait till LT+ before going online or updating to dash. Its due to reading forums and everyone saying new dash is safe as long as new games are not played that I updated and am now flagged.

Well, you may have been flagged for some reason, but there is no way you can be flagged for "failing AP25 challenge" without trying to boot an AP25 title. You obviously have been flagged for some other reason.

Does the new dash incorperate old stealth checks offline maybe? So if you play an old game that has not been correctly ss patched, yo get the flag?

Sorry if it's been answered already, but I'm in desperate need here :/
I fucked up and installed the Kinect-dashboard on my flashed Arcade LiteOn-360, and now everytime I insert a profile, it gets corrupted.
Checked the serial with XVal, and it showed as "AP25 check failed". I haven't had my x360 online for a year, I've actually added a sticker over the ethernet-port on the back to seal it
Have not plugged it LIVE since, and wasn't planned on ever doing it, since I have another 360 that are not flashed..
My question though, is; Is there any hope - now or later - that I will be able to deflag/unflag my x360, since it has not been online, but been flagged offline? Or is there a hardware-limit somewhere? I really want to keep updating my gamerscore.. :/
Regards!

I fucked up and installed the Kinect-dashboard on my flashed Arcade LiteOn-360, and now everytime I insert a profile, it gets corrupted.
Checked the serial with XVal, and it showed as "AP25 check failed". I haven't had my x360 online for a year, I've actually added a sticker over the ethernet-port on the back to seal it (IMG:
style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) Have not plugged it LIVE since, and wasn't planned on ever doing it, since I have another 360 that are not flashed..
My question though, is; Is there any hope - now or later - that I will be able to deflag/unflag my x360, since it has not been online, but been flagged offline? Or is there a hardware-limit somewhere? I really want to keep updating my gamerscore.. :/
Regards!
I think not because I assume your xbox is not jtaggable since you have the latest updates. No Jtag means you can't access the nand to clear the values.

Does the new dash incorperate old stealth checks offline maybe? So if you play an old game that has not been correctly ss patched, yo get the flag?
In that case the Xval wont return "failed AP25 challenge".

Agreed. But I was just speculating on why the gal who had only played saw 1 was flagged. She didn't say it was the ap2.5 fail and I just wondered if the new dash could detect a non stealth backup of an older game, or are those checks still only carried out on live?

That's what I think. He/she may be banned/flagged but for some other reason than AP25.

I got a (really) dumb question.
I have the 9199 dash and want to play the new Need for Speed. What can I do with a flashed drive to play it from a Verbatim Duallayer Disc.
Must I wait until a new CFW comes out?
Will this problem persist with the original media so that I cannot play it?

Wait for LT+ like everyone else without a JTAG.

Hitachi 78K: ixtreme 1.51
System was never connected to the internet. Updated to new kinect dash off of game disc.
Attempted to load AC:B, erroneously assuming my hitachi was old enough to not support ap2.5.
Xval 2.0 result after AC:B: "Failed AC25 Challenge"
Xval decrypted value: 000000000001 (not sure how many zeroes to be exact, but essentially a 1 value)
profile is not corrupt and I can still play all my current games with saves working correctly. Save files are not corrupted either.
From what I gather so far from reading this thread, I cannot reset my Xval to clean status since I cannot jtag because of updating to the new dash? Is there any other way at all to fix the xval?

No, you're screwed. LT+ will most likely not be released for Hitachi, considering hitachi's didn't make it past 1.61 ixtreme... and C4eva stated some hitachi's are incapable of ap2.5...
Buy a new drive, (liteon or samsung) and use that when LT+ is out.
But since you never connect to the internet... Does it even matter?
if you do care about live...
your only reliable option would be to buy a slim... wait for LT+... the go online like a bitch all day long till your ass explodes of excitement.

If I move my HDD to a new unflagged console, can I continue playing all my gamesaves? Will my profile and gamesaves corrupt on the new unflagged console? Again, I never connected my xbox to the internet and is only flagged in my console's nand xval, which not save in my HDD or profile right?

Hello all,
Newly registered user here, but I have a question that's been eating at me for a good while. I've read through most of the posts in this thread. Someone mentioned flashing their xbox back to the OFW and then updating to the new dash; my question is if I do this and then play an ORIGINAL copy of Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, will the console be flagged? I plan on making one of my consoles a "safe-online-legit" console, and hopefully the other will be for copied games (all the while avoid ap2.5 to see if can also keep its online capability until LT+).
In short, has anyone tested or can confirm Assassin's Creed Brotherhood (or other ap2.5 games) working on a console that has been flashed to the original/stock firmware, updated to the kinect dash, and then using an original-legal-legit copy of an AP2.5 game without getting flagged? Thank you in advance for any replies!
Will be fine, why wouldnt it? You're effectively returning it to standard, as long as you arn't already flagged for another reason.

Thank you mattjk. I'm just a super-paranoid guy, that's why I asked lol. Have you done this yourself? It'd just reassure me that it's fine if someone has actually done this.

Does a retail copy of games with AP2.5 not boot on ixtreme-flashed drives?

I'm sure it will boot,I just don't wanna get either of my consoles banned if that's possible in addition to keeping one of my consoles "Safe" (unmodded) for original copies and online play.

I can confirm restoring to stock firmware and using an original copy will not flag your system/get you banned. Ran xval on my console a few times after playing AC:B for a couple hours, shows up clean. Just putting this up here in case anyone else had the same questions I had or is just as paranoid
