Title: Benq Vad6038
Post by: slayer86ca on September 24, 2010, 11:15:00 PM
I am having a problem getting this drive into vendor mode. Tried at least ten times benq unlock button in JF, and also another ten tries power cycling when in JF I press send intro button.
Any help is always much appreciated.
Is it possible to do the BoxxDr method on this drive?

benqunlock is for pre ix1.5.stock or LT ONLY
the vcc trick as you describe, intro then power cycling is for via/nforce chipset only.
sounds like you have either ix1.5-1.61 on the drive and using your onboard sata.
follow the jungleflasher guide how to set half tray and powerup, this is to vendor mode for ix1.5 onwards
mra for the benq is over the top tbh.The worst case would be get a via card and vcc, it works 100% everytime, and for the price of a via 6421 card its a no brainer.

It's hardly MRA,  but fun none-the-less

(Googled by the way)

Everything  turny stated, is in the Jugleflasher User Guide.....

You could also lift the MXIC read/patch/write, then resolder  it.

All of this info is readily available in a 5 minute google, or, search on this forum - If not already included in the documentation provided with the application you are using.

Instead you post vague details of your situation and wait for a reply.....

Amazing....

Helolo friend, did you try Dosflash 32 V1.8 it made benq drive automtically in vendor mode bwhen it start.

It's possible too that you had a SATA chip problem????

You should be able to get it into vendor mode by using the half open tray method.

I have flashed a couple of drives previously with the same pc.
Asus p5q pro turbo mother board.
I have done the BoxxDr method twice, so I think that my chipset should be ok. I could be wrong though. I finally opened up the Benq drive, it was inside of a Halo 360. For this drive I should follow this tut?

I also tried your suggestion about using Dosflash, for some reason nothing is working for me.
Any help is much appreciated.
Sorry if I am vague, I have used the search engine and google of course before posting and filling up the forums with an already answered question.
Also this is a stock firmware box presently, never previously flashed.

I flashed the drive successfully with the trace cut/switch solder method. Used DosFlash to read/erase/write and JF to patch the key, if that is said properly.
Thanks to all those who read and also lent a helping hand.
