Title: Does A Spoofed Drive With Standard Firmware = Ban On Xbl?
Post by: PimpleX on August 29, 2010, 02:23:00 PM
If (IF) I can get the key off my dead / dying liteon, do I need to buy identical drive to replace it for XBL use? Or can I safely spoof another one without getting banned console? Firmware will be standard obviously not hacked for that purpose.
Cheers

No one can say for sure if it is safe to use a spoofed drive with stock fw. You will be safe though if you can replace with a Liteon. If you have the choice and are worried about Live, then replace with a Liteon for sure.

What is wrong with your current drive? if it is just the laser going out then just replace that instead of the complete drive.

safest would be to do a complete dump instead of just getting the key, and using a matching drive

just to share my opinion...
if using stock fw but a different drive results in a ban, well thats almost criminal. are we not allowed to repair our own electronics?

You're not allowed to get on XBL with a console if it was opened for repair or modification, it's all the same to them, and the XBL service agreement you agree to covers all the bases.
